Sales department was easy to deal with, I had a list of 5th wheels that I wanted to see. They were all on the lot and were shown to me by a young man that was very helpful. He had good knowledge and explained good points and some bad points of different RV’S. This young man I wish I remembered his name. He did work in the service department now but was a sales man prior. This was on 01-09-2018 During the RV show in Akron so they were a bit short handed at the store. I did connect with John from sales and he worked out the details in short order. He is also who will answer any questions you may have that come up while camping or on the road. If he doesn’t know he will get the answer for you. I made arrangements to pick my new RV and have the Anderson 5th wheel hitch and Air Lift air suspension installed. The installation did take a bit longer than expected but they ordered lunch for me and wow was it good thank you. On the way home one of the air lifters lost air, I called Tracey in the service department in the morning and they arranged for camping world in Apollo PA to assist with the problem. I drove over that morning and one of the techs had the problem fixed in less than 5 minutes I’m not kidding. I thought for sure I would be there all day. Talk about fantastic service and fantastic people like Tracey. These are all positive things that will go a long way with my wife and my self. I did experience something I didn’t like and that was the surprise that the price on the advertised price didn’t include freight and dealer prep. There goes another $2000 to the cost. In the future I wish they would increase the advertised price to include these costs. Then when you see the finance department be prepared to ask a lot of questions. They will present 4 or 5 different payment options so don’t be fooled. They will try to sell Service contract this to me is a good Idea, paint protection and tire protection so you can add another $10,000 to the total deal. So be smart and buy what you need and have an overall good experience. The overall cost was still lower and the service was good, and remember we can get service easily in every state we drive thru.

On October 8, 2017 I purchased a 2018 Heartland Pioneer DS310. My sales person was Anthony Tobin. Anthony was a great sales person and showed us several units within our price range and did not push any purchase on us. We closed on the purchase around 6:30 PM and the staff had already left before we could do our walkthrough of the camper. Anthony advised us that I would need to place them a call on Monday (10/9/17) to schedule a time for the RV to be delivered. On October 9, 2017 I placed several phone calls to Camping world to arrange a date and a time for the unit to be delivered. Finally we settled on the delivery date being October 13, 2017. On Wednesday (10/11/17) I placed a phone call to see about getting the unit delivered on 10/12/17 because of the weather that was supposed to come in on the 13th. We decided to keep the delivery time and date the same as previously determined. I talked to Mike who was the delivery man for the unit. I advised Mike that the camper would be sitting on my father's property for a moment and advised him the address. I advised Mike that the driveway to where it would be parked was approximately half a mile or less down a graveled driveway. Mike advised me that normally they only took the camper to where the pavement ends, but that he would take a look at the driveway and *** the possibilities of him delivering the unit to where I wanted it to be parked. On October 13, 2017 I advised my father that Mike might not be able to haul the unit to where I wanted it to be parked. My father contacted a family friend who had a large tractor that could haul the unit to where i wanted it parked if Mike could not. When Mike arrived I drove him down the driveway to *** the possibility of him hauling it down the driveway. Mike stated that he was confident that he could haul it down the driveway with some help throughout the process. My father and I agreed that we would help him haul it down the driveway. I was in the front guiding him through narrow portions of the driveway and my father was in the back. Mike did a great job getting it through the toughest and most narrow portion of the driveway. Once we got the camper at my fathers residence down the driveway, Mike parked the truck and got out to *** the next and final stretch of the haul and to where the camper would be parked. Mike stated that he would probably drop the unit off at my fathers and not take it up the final stretch. Mike and my father, and I looked assessed the driveway and made a few measurements to confirm that the unit could be hauled up. Mike agreed that he would haul it to where it would be parked. Mike was worried about one pole that was near the driveway and we measured the area and talked about it and came to the conclusion that it would not be a problem. My father pointed out a tree that was leaning over the route and stated to Mike that we should remove the tree first. Mike stated that he didn't think the tree would be a problem and hopped back in his truck to haul it up. While coming through the final area the camper collided with the tree that my father had pointed out. The tree collided with the power/led awning moving the awning about a foot and a half bending the awning. When I heard the sound i halted Mike. We took a loot at the damages and figured out a remedy to get the tree away and off of the camper. We cut the tree down using a chainsaw and freed up the collision. Mike finished the haul with ease after that point and parked the unit where I wanted it to be parked. I asked Mike who i would need to call at Camping world to have the awning fixed. Mike advised me that i would just need to contact my insurance company. I asked Mike why Camping World would not take care of this issue since it occurred during the delivery of my unit with Camping World's truck hauling it. Mike stated that he was not supposed to deliver the unit past the pavement ending. Avoiding any type of confrontation I just advised Mike that we would figure something out and Mike left. After Mike left I placed a phone call to Camper World to address this issue. The lady i talked to advised that she did not know if Tracey was available, but that she would try to hunt her down to give me a call, and if not she would leave the message. I did not receive a phone call from Tracey that day. I placed a phone call on 10/14/17 and asked to speak with Tracey. Tracey advised me to write this email explaining what had occurred the day this happened. Tracey advised that she and her GM will read this message and see what they need to do to get this issue fixed. I advised Tracey on the phone that i do not understand how i should have to come out of my pocket to fix the awning. The unit was attached to Mikes Camping world truck when the damage occurred. Mike was not forced or coerced into hauling the unit where he did, he did so freely. Mike was confident that he could do the job, so we let him. Mike also knew that we had a tractor on stand by to haul in the unit if we needed to. After over literally 100's of phone calls (non of which was to any supervisor - because they would not return my phone call) an employee at this location advised me that Tracey had told them to tell me that there was nothing that they could do to fix my unit. I attempted to reach out to their corporate office, and couldn't get any help there either. IF YOU PLAN ON BUYING A RV GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. GO TO A COMPANY WHO PUTS YOU FIRST AND WORKS FOR YOU. THE ONLY THING THESE PEOPLE WANT IS YOUR MONEY.

I have been please with camping world as a supplier of STUFF. I am very displeased, *** is the word. They have had my motor home for 5 months with excuse after excuse. Wrong parts, waiting for parts yadah yadah yadah. It has now been in the body shop for a month and there was very little actual body work required. Camping season for my wife and I is over for this year due to schedules... I am a very unhappy camper over this situation.

The service manager, to whom I had never spoken, reached out to me and they will be resolving the issues.

Updated by user Feb 27, 2018

After discussing this matter with the dealership this turned out to be nothing more than bad communication and they will be resolving the issues this week.

Updated by user Sep 15, 2017

Edit Sep 15th - I now have evidence from another RV dealership who did an inspection that the fridge, furnace and water heater DO NOT WORK on propane. 3 of 4 appliances that I was assured were tested during a presale "Appliance check" DO NOT WORK.

With this new information, now I can go to the BBB and file my complaint. Hopefully it will result in a huge find and termination of the salesman who misrepresented the condition of the RV.

Original review Aug 28, 2017
Go ANYWHERE else, but do not buy from Camping World. These people are extremely shady. Google really needs to devise a way to leave 0 stars. This business would surely get a 0. As soon as they have your money they forget they ever knew you. They sold me an RV based on a huge pile of lies. I did not notice on the lot, but the RV I bought was at some point obviously involved in a small side impact accident, as the cab is pushed off center by 1/2". That may not seem like a lot, but it is something that should be disclosed, should it not? I expected minor things to be wrong, but is a side impact incident a minor thing? They tried to sell me this RV with a generator that did not start, the logic apparently being "Once you sign for it, it's on you. YOU replace it!" The cranking battery does not hold a charge. The fridge does not work. I now need to take it to an RV service center, NOT Camping World, and have a long list of things checked out, and I antipate a HUGE repair bill in my near future. There are things I don't know about this RV, and I have asked questions that are answered with "I don't know." I recently was told that I need to flip some shutoff valve so the water heater fills before I turn the heater on. I asked the salesman where that valve was. He said "I don't know." Well if HE doesn't know, how would I know? He also made no effort to find out. With the other reviews, and now my experience, they truly seem like a shady dealership and I advise you to avoid them. They sold me this thing with so much wrong that it will require my taking it in for service already, as I don't want to risk using it until I have everything fixed. That is going to mean inconveniencing someone to follow me there and bring me home, then do the reverse to pick it up. Avoid Camping World. Go ANYWHERE else.

So which Camping World employee are you? The salesman who sold me this thing and badly misrepresented the condition, or his manager who informed him of the review?

This review was completely honest.

I was given a checklist of the appliances that were allegedly tested. The fridge does NOT work on propane. That checklist said it did.

Very soon I will have everything repaired that should not have been inoperative when they turned it over to me.

Once I have that the BBB will be involved, and I will win, and they will pay for the repairs plus however much I ask for in punitive damages. This isn't close to over.

Product in Sales Flyer not in the store

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I drove 80 miles east to the Springfield, MO. Camping World the day after receiving a sales flyer showing a King Tailgater antenna with free receiver that I wanted for my 5th wheel. This was Aug. 8th. I was told that they didn't get the receiver's for the sale but they should be in on Friday with the truck, so I had them put the Tailgater away for me and put me down for 2 of the 211-z receivers. My plan was to use it in the Colorado Mountains while helping a friend build his cabin out in the "boonies", with a departure time of this Thursday morning (Aug. 17). Well, the truck showed up but not the receivers, after I called them to check Friday afternoon (I never once got a call from them). Anyway, they supposedly were having some shipped separately and should have them Monday or today (Tues. Aug. 15). I waited to hear from them until 4 p.m. and then I called them again. No receivers and probably won't have them until Thursday or Friday, which does me no good since I'll be on the road heading the other way. I find it really hard to believe that a company would have a big sale like that without supplying the stores with the products advertised. Amazing. I told them to put the Tailgater back on the shelf & I won't be going back to that store any time soon (or later).

Most "flyer specials" are negotiated months in advance and often the manufacturer isn't able to supply the units as agreed. The retailer always takes the blame.

Resolved: No clear indication of length of Sale Offer

I called back to Camping World (on a whim) on their Catalog's Customer Service number and got a very helpful Customer Service lady who said "Yes" that she could see the previous price and could adjust to the sale price that was available when I add it and the two other items to my "Wish List". Additionally, although I was $2.00 short of Free Shipping, she was able to offer me that bonus.

The first lady was not able to assist me and was not helpful in offering to check the prices etc.; she said that they never know about what is on the on-line sales.

Now, though, I am once again a very happy Camping World customer. Sincerely, Nell48

Original review Aug 10, 2017
I had put 3 items on my wish list to purchase via their website; and when I went to purchase them the next day - the price on one item (the most expensive) had gone up by about $8.00. . There was no indication that the price on my item was a "one day only" or limited - when I called to ask about their mistake - the person (who was nice) stated that the Customer Service people know "nothing" about when prices change" or if there is any variation from day -to-day. Which meant there was no offer to review and return my item to the original Sale Price. IF I had seen any notification on the site at the time this was a "One Day" sale, of course I would have place my order. I am very unhappy - I was the victim of a sort of "Switch & Bait" Scam from Camping World

Ordered an a/c on the 17th of July. Still hadn't shipped by the 27th. Made multiple un returned phone calls and an email. Finally received an email apologizing and stating the ac would ship and arrive next day air. Three days later still not shipped. I replaced both acs and it cost me an extra 600 and they lost more than a thousand in revenue. If you full time or actually need the product your ordering DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. This review requires 100 words. I said what I had to say. I'm working overtime to pay for the extra 600 I spent. Hi Scott, Your order is scheduled to leave the warehouse today via UPS Next Day Air, tracking # 1Z3Y676201****1087, and should arrive to you by noon tomorrow. We stopped by camping world in Stafford, MO to shop-around for an RV. Being new to RV's we were not sure of what we wanted. A bald headed salesman (sic) took us out, showed us where the class C's were at and disappeared, boy did we have questions! After an hour or so David, another or should I say a REAL salesman came up and answered questions, showed us different RV's and was a great help. We didn't buy as we had a lot of thinking to do, but when we do buy, David is getting the sale from us. He did get a sale from our friends that were there with us!

Do not sell items for posted prices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Today I wanted to purchase some things for my RV, so I stopped by one of your stores. You did had the items I was looking for. The items available for sale in your stores have a posted prices but when taken to the check out register I was informed that I can't actually purchase thows item for that price, unless I join the club for an additional twenty five bucks. So you know what I did? I left the items on the counter and told the clerk to keep them. You Know, marketing is changing in the united states and your stores will soon be replaced with on line purchasing. You would do well to remember that everything you sell, can also be had over the internet for less then your store prices with no shipping and no sales tax. I came home and purchased five hundred and fifty dollars worth of merchandise and got everything I wanted for much less. So you should stick your marketing idea's up your ***. Even though there is a camping world twenty miles away I won't shop there for this reason. Gordon B San Jose ca.
