Camping World in Valley Center, California - No service department

I defy you to call or use the internet to get a oil change appointment at CW San Marcos CA. I've been on their call back list for over a week. I submitted an online request for an appointment a week ago. NO RESPONSE. In the past the only way I've gotten an appointment is to go there and stand in line and then they will talk to me and give me an appointment.

Camping World - Oil change scam

1.0
Details
This review could go on for pages about how we were lied to, ignored for weeks when asking where the title was after the purchase, fed misinformation, and treated like we were stupid when we bought a used RV from CW. OK I will admit to being stupid for going there but it was a seldom seen RV and we wanted it. But this one incident stands out. The salesman at Camping World had said they would change the oil for free in the Onan generator in the used RV we were about to purchase. We took him at his word it was done. During the pre-purchase walk through they said they had tested the generator and when I started it the generator worked fine, started right up and ran smoothly. I started it a couple of times and the last time it remained running long enough for me to test all the circuits in the RV. Probably 5 minutes. When we got the RV back back home I went to run the generator and it no longer worked. It would crank until I let go of the start switch. An internet search suggested that I check the oil level as that is a common cause of that symptom. When I unscrewed the dipstick, oil came flowing out. It was way way above the full level on the dipstick, it was at the very top of the reservoir! In fact when I siphoned oil out I got over 7 oz. extra oil before it was down far enough to read full on the dipstick. When I changed the oil, and here is the really interesting part, the oil by the dipstick that I had siphoned out was fresh clear new oil. The vast majority of oil that flowed out of the drain plug was old, black oil. Fresh on top, old below. The only scenario I can think of is someone just poured fresh oil on top of the old oil in the reservoir to make it appear that the oil had been changed. The generator hasn't started since. I doubt the generator would have run smoothly with 7 extra oz. of oil (it checks oil pressure on startup and won't run if it is out of spec and 7 oz too much oil is way out of spec). But even if it did run, the clean oil on the top would quickly have been mixed with the old oil in the running engine. The oil at the top of the reservoir was pristine when I opened it. This tells me the generator was most likely not run after the oil went in. So I believe it must have happened after we tested it at the dealership and before we drove it off the lot. After dealing with those people I have no doubt they are capable of doing that.

This complaint is far too long to read in its entirety. It is plain to see what precipitated this issue : QUOTE : " we wanted it.

" There went all of your common sense and usual buyer's acumen right out the window.

Like a child with an obsession. Then this is what happens : you ignore all of the warning signs with your *** for perceived product performance and are now out the money , have a problem, and little recourse - it's like jumping into bed with a high priced call girl who turns out to be a regular streetwalker that leaves you with a nasty STD.

Camping World - High prices in service

Took RV in for oil change. Also asked them to check the jack, steering for to much play in it. Came out with a bill of $437.00.. Will never go there again!!! Rip offs!!!!!!!!! Had we known they were going to charge so much we would have never ask the to look at the jack or check the steering. Most of the cost was for labor.. I guess it took them at least three hours for a one to two hour job... They could have at least given us a heads up on how long it may take.. Not that they care. Way to much money.

Same experience in Marion, NC...cannot trust these people! Period.

Had a water leak under sink in cabinet after our first trip. Took it in for repairs and they said they found no leak but charged u $151.97 to look and see that there was no water. Had there been a leak our warranty would have bought the parts, repaired it at no charge. Instead, they found no water and owed them the above amount for looking.

They are total idiots. Please take all the 1615 complaints serious and stay away.

Similar experience with Camping World in Arkansa. 2 hours to install awnings.

We stood there and watched the guy do it. 1/2 hour, was still changed for 2 hours labor, said we had to pay for him to have lunch and do paperwork???? Then $119 for "misc" use to call it "rag" charge until I would tell them, I wanted the rags I paid for.

We will not use Camping World again. I think they have been Franchised, so no longer have control over the new greedy owners.

Camping World Jacksonville Service

Details
We took our Winnebago Tour into this Service Dept. for normal oil change and filter and generator service (oil change and filter). We were having no issues, just normal maintenance. When the service tech finished and pulled the MH out of the service bay one of the other tech's noticed an oil leak, so they took it back into the bay and said they had put in a bad filter so they supposedly put in another one. We left Jacksonville and drove to SC. For the first time ever, we had a problem with our generator, it just stopped working. The next morning my husband discovered oil leaking. We took it to Camping World, Statesville, NC. They found the new oil filter put on in Jacksonville was very loose. They also found Jacksonville had not put a filter on the generator. When my husband called the Service Manager in Jacksonville about the generator filter he hung up on my husband. WILL NEVER USE THIS PLACE FOR SERVICE AGAIN AND WOULD SUGGEST IF YOU VALUE YOUR MOTORHOME YOU WON'T EITHER.

Camping World - Oil Change Review from Olive Branch, Mississippi

Camping world was running a special on oil Change on motor coach which included oil change in generator as a package price for around 378 dollars up to so many gallons then the price goes up well they had it for three days we picked it up paid the 378 and drove it home and parked it They did change the oil in the generator I know this because they tightened the plug so tight it now leaks so I checked the oil in the motor its black as coal they claim it was changed there is no way for one I didn't till now know that my 450 Cumins Diesel engine takes 12 gal of oil so if they changed it my bill would have been much more than the 378 charged what a bunch of thieving liars never trust them now I have to spend another 300 or 400 more for the oil change

Camping World in Burlington, Washington - Attempt to fry our battery?

It's May 2015. The Facts; We have a 40' motor home we're into our 4th month "Full Timing" touring the USA. We scheduled an oil & filter change and replace a few battery cables on a "bank" of four batteries; all are connected. Let the experts deal with the cable replacements and cleanup of acid buildup. Pros; Did great job on oil/filter change! Cons;Did poor job on reassembly of cables! Specifically placed the "Inverter/Charger Cable" on wrong terminal & battery! We discovered this mistake (10 hours later) is "Electric/Electronics Basics 101" knowledge. Which may have easily "Fried" one battery (the tech misreconnected the Inverter cable to) fortunately we simply disconnected the main power (land) and all interior fuses before we went to sleep that night. Too bad the Company won't fess up to the error. Conclusion; Our objective? You beware of this particular section (Electrical) from this particular store! Also, perhaps Camping World of Burlington can avoid this boo boo next time with their Techs!

Camping World - Why submit to RV Service Abuse in Kissimmee, Fl?

1.0
Details
I’m done with Camping World In March we made an appointment for work to be done in April with our trusted repair/service worker, Dave Vacanti and were told by our service advisor, Lorne Edwards, he would be available for us.On April 1st arrived at CW at Kissimmee, Fl with service needs as follows:1. Water leak caused floor to buckle which needed Repair. (40 hrs estimate)2. Awning spring need replacing.3. Satellite motor stuck.4. Our couch also needed repair under a Camping World extended warranty.5. Change engine oil. We stayed in a hotel while repairs were completed. We were not told that Dave was gone and another technician was assigned. Every day we asked about progress and were told that they were still on track for completion on the following Friday, April 10th. The Motorhome sat for 5 days before work began on April 6th.Lorne kept complaining that he could not contact the couch repair people but, he promised to keep trying.Instead of being realistic about the work, Lorne just kept promising. Also, their phone kept crashing and I was unable to speak to Lorne so I began communicating by email at his suggestion. Lorne said the phone system was so bad email it is the only way to contact him. Imagine, a multimillion dollar company with bad phones. After 2 day, Lorne stopped returning email. Calls to the service manager, Brady Nails and the store manager, DeeDee were not returned. So much for customer service!! On April 10th, Friday we picked up the Motorhome as promised.Floors were repaired but the rugs were soiled, the kitchen faucet didn’t work (counter top was removed to fix floor) and a floor grate was damaged.Oil was changed but the oil cap was not put back on the oil tube. If my engine seized up would Camping World repair or replace it? I doubt it. Lorne said they didn’t have enough time to fix awning but he will order the part on Monday. He had 10 days to order the part. In fact, On Monday, May 13th, Lorne asked me to send him the part number and serial number of the awning. Don’t you think that was his job?The awning was opened and the spring removed so the needed numbers were available. The awning was closed up for travel but was not secured for travel by not tying it down creating an unsafe travel condition. Lorne never made an appointment with furniture repair people but he assured me next time we’re at CW in Kissimmee Camping World he would make an appointment. We left Camping World on April 10th and I continued to email until April 29th without a returned email or phone call. Today is May 3rd, nothing has changed. This is the second time I got screwed as a customer by Camping World. This first time was at the Lakewood, NJ facility where I needed a new slide motor because this motor burned up. CW kept assuring me they couldn’t find the part. I called in a mobile repair person and he had the slide motor installed in 2 days. A one man operation is better than and entire company. The service agent, Charles Mitchell, kept stalling proving that Camping World service operation was not customer focused. 2 strikes you’re out.Why should I subject myself and family to Service abuse?

Camping World in Indianapolis, Indiana - Poor service and missing fuel

2.2
Details
Nov 2014 - Dropped of my Class A Diesel for winterization, oil change and invertor check. Month later told job was finished. Upon arrival, it was determined job was not even completed and freeze damage. CW stated they would need my RV longer to complete the work. After calling weekly, they finally stated it was complete and I pick up my RV in Jan 2015. AS I turned on my engine, my fuel light was on and buzzers ringing. How in the world do I bring a full 100 gallon tank to service only to get it back below empty.

Don't believe salesman at camping world

we purchased a 2014 22ft.thor motorhome May 2014.During the walk thru we pointed out to our salesman two minor items that needed correcting.he replied take the camper out a couple of times and make note of any other problems and bring it back in and we will repair them!!!!( we assumed at no cost)we had four issues.we took it in Sept.picked it up 3 weeks later just to find out they were going to charge us $490.00.The sales manager reduced the total to $164.25. $73.00 of that was for an oil change, which we understand.one of the problems they lied about fixing was still an issue instead of fighting with them again my husband ended up fixing it.we will NEVER purchase or have any repairs at camping world Nashville tn. again!!!

I feel bad for you. But you should call your local library and get the CEO's name and phone # and write him directly.

That's what I did and got most of my money back for the inept driver who TRIED to deliver my RV camper and damaged it.

I wouldn't accept delivery and my damaged yard they paid (when I provided the receipts for most of the repair--still waiting on the last receipt to be refunded to me). Horrible company in Friendsville, TN too!
