Service Appointment

I wanted to make a routine service appointment for my C class at the local Camping World. I had never dealt with Camping World prior to this time. I went to their glowing service web site inviting me to make an appointment with their highly skilled service facility and they would get back to me shortly. I filled out the online form and submitted it. No one ever contacted me. About a week later I filled out the online form again. Still no response. I have since read many of the Camping World horror stories on different web sites and because of all the heavily negative comments I will no longer attempt to use them. I am convinced that the one thing Camping World does really well is shooting themselves in the foot....and if they miss, they will move the foot and try to shoot it again. They are their own worst enemy.

LOUSY

Quick synopsis so you don't have to read my sob story but you might not waste your time on this sorry excuse for a company: 1. If you call you will talk to the front desk, then be transferred to an unanswered voicemail. EVERY TIME. No one will call you back either. Just ask to talk to the manger. 2. No on can give you a clear answer for anything 3. Plan to drive to the store at least 4 times before you are done no matter how far away you might live 4. When you think you finally done with their nonsense, you might be about halfway there. 5. Don't expect anyone to apologize for anything. Including but not limited to; unanswered calls, unclear answers, incorrect paperwork, wait times, etc. Absolutely awful! My husband and I did research on a camper that was on the lot. We came in knowing what we wanted. No one had to "sell" anything to us. However, we almost walked away during the paperwork because everything was so messed up. No one could give us a clear answer on anything. We live almost two hours away and would have loved to be able to drive off with it that day. It became clear that that wasn't going to happen but we were fine with that. They charged our bank account $5,000 (our down payment) BEFORE they ever told us what the final price of the camper would be. We got that figured out finally and agreed on a price. This was on a Saturday so we understood that they would have to hear back from the credit union before we could move forward so we left. We were assured everything would be fine and we could come pick up the camper Monday once Camping World called us. Monday we didn't hear anything from anyone so we called. We talked with someone at the front desk who directed our call elsewhere. From there we got a voicemail. No one ever called us back. Tuesday morning I called again and got the same go around; talk to the front desk, then transferred to an unanswered voicemail. I called back 4 hours later to get the same run around. Mind you, we are now a day past when we were told we could pick it up AND have already put the $5,000 down. Between my husband and I we called 3 more times that day with zero response. Finally when I got the front desk for the final time that day I asked to speak to the manager. Come to find out NO ONE EVER FILED OUR PAPERWORK! The credit union hadn't even been contacted. They never apologized, they just said "things had been really busy because of a sale that they had for July 4th." We finally figure out that we can come pick up the camper on Thursday and set up all the appointment, etc. So we think we are in the clear. I am not free on Thursday but my husband is. I get a call that not all paperwork is signed so they need me at this appointment too. So I have to leave work early and drive the two hours there to sign what I later find out my husband could have. Later that day he drives the two hours to actually pick up the camper. We finally think we are done. Think again!! Nothing is ever done with this company. I get a frantic call on Friday saying that they had me sign the WRONG PAPERWORK when I left work early and drove a totally of 4 hours so I would need to come back in. No - they could not fax it or mail it. I had to come there. So off I went, AGAIN! No one ever apologized for their mistake. My husband and I actually went out to celebrate being done with Camping World that night. Then I get another call. They didn't save the document that had my pay stub so they would need that ASAP. I cried. I begged my husband just to take the camper back because such a company did not deserve our money. Almost 4 weeks later, my husband and I are getting ready for a trip to North Carolina and realize our tags haven't come in. We were never given a temp tag so this was vital to our upcoming trip. So I just called and guess what happened - talked to the front desk, then transferred to an unanswered voicemail. OF COURSE!

Buying an RV with the St. George Camping World was a nightma

Found exactly what we wanted. Drove from San Diego to St. George , Utah to pick up our rig. Sat for 5 hours. My husband went on the roof to check out the job they did in installing a 2nd AC unit. So much damage. They said they’d put some caulk on it. We asked for something in writing to say they damaged it so our warranty wouldn’t be effected. They refused, so we walked. It was almost comical! I have never done business with such a immature bunch of grown men.

Stupid is as stupid does, who would live in San Diego and drive to St. George Utah to purchase an RV.....when you get home who is going to service your new RV?

Certainly not the local Dealer, it's a long drive to back to Utah to get adjustments. Anybody who tells you anything different is full of ***

Biggest mistake I have made

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a montana 305rl fifth wheel in june from camping world in myrtle beach sc. We also purchaced washer and dryer, and the dish satelite system with two receivers. PAID THEM TO INSTALL THEM AND ALSO TOOK THE GEL COATING TO BE PUT ON THE UNIT. When it was delivered it was late so didn't notice they hadnt put it on unit. Then couldnt get satellite to work either or dryer. So they sent a tech out to pick unit up to fix what they had been paid to install. Brought it back and satelite still didnt work and noticed they had tore led lights off unit while putting gel coating on. Went to ise washer and it flooded front of fifth wheel. Reason for that was their fault of installing washer incorrect. Take in mind i live in my fifth wheel full time i am construction worker and purchased this unit to stay in instead of motels. So by this time i have paid for month space rent and for cabin to stay in while they are fixing their mistakes. So i stayed maybe 4 nights in this unit. So i told them i didnt want the unit because once flooded it could have issues with mold. So i drove2 hours back to their lot and picked another unit out a montana 3731fl. It took almost two weeks before they delivered it. Told me they wanted it perfect when its delivered because of so much trouble i been through . Well this unit isnt right either. The kitchen island is busted from slide pushing up against it. Can only use 1 trash can in island. Have 3 tvs in unit can only use 1. Ice maker doesnt work. Now ceiling fan in kitchen to. Its the worst experience i have ever had. When i purchased the first unit i sent one of my construction buddies up there and he purchased a new travel trailer. He has had a few issues but not like mine. I would love for the owner or ceo of camping world in myrtle beach to actually have to go through what i have for the last 2 months. Or at least read some of my emails and texts from their employees to me on these issues. This is the 2 time i have purchased a fifth wheel from camping world. First experience was great in chattanooga, tn. But the second one in myrtle beach, sc has been nothing but a headache and nightmare. I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. Dont be a fool like me. Beware

We bought the extended warranty (2000.00) and the exterior paint warranty (1695.00) from Camping World when we purchased our RV. We took our RV in to Camping World at the end of July 2018. As of today, it is still there. Every time I call there is a different excuse as to why nothing has been done. When we brought it in, we had a list of items to be repaired. We presented all our warranties (that they sold to us) and asked to be kept informed. We had not heard anything from the service department after three weeks even though we continued to call. The lady that checked us in at the service department gave us her card and said call anytime. We later found out she no longer worked there. We were given a different contact person. As of today our RV is still there. When I called the service department today, I was told the same thing.... let me check on it and I will call you back. Not! I did call the service manager and ask he give me a call, but he hasn’t and that was 2 weeks ago. I will try to make an appointment with the manager of Camping World. If he will not see us, I guess the step is to seek legal help.

Bought a brand new camper and roof came off first trip and im having to fight for them to warranty it.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a new slide in truck bed camper and had no help at all loading it as they said there insurance wouldn't cover them to help so me and my young daughter managed to lift and slide it in the bed by hand with no forklift help. then next day we started our vacation and some time into it I noticed the roof flapping in the wind so I pulled over and vinyle roof membrane was ripped and pulling out from under the wood so I duct tapped it down and called them. The manager I talked to immediately said there was no warranty and nothing they could do. What a great start to a vacation after spending that kind of money I tell you. But I didn't let it stop us and a week later when we got back off vacation I took it in and showed them what had happened and got same story there was no warranty and so I walked the guy over and showed him the sticker on back of unit that showed a 2 yr warranty in a 1ft by 1ft sticker with 2inch lettering and they still said they could not help me at the service side. went to sales side and was told they had bought out a company and those were in there inventory and they didn't know how to do the warranty work on them but the manager assured me he would look into it and let me know something soon so I left my number and what a surprise after a week still no word. took camper back up there after that week and service department said they had not heard anything also so I took camper home again without being fixed. been to office talking to other managers and each one of them say the same thing let them find out and they will call. never do I get a call. Now 3 weeks of waiting ive noticed the refrigerator has quit working what next. I have bought several campers from here but will never buy from this company again.

I went there in 2016 i wanted to purchase an RV. I did like one and I let them run my credit. And I couldnt get settled that I really wanted to purchase an RV for sure so I walked away from the deal. 2 years later i still wanted one. Went back and they ran my credit again. Wish so badly i had looked up my credit report. It turns out these idiots did 4 ... four! Hard pulls on my credit in 2016. I dod not tell these idiots they could do that!. Now they have pulled 2 hard credit checks this year! This crap dont fall off your credit score for years! I absolutly hate them. They did so very wrong and I may be paying for ut fir years. But for as long as its on my credit.... I will spread the news.

This happened to a disabled veteran friend and her disabled veteran husband

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Well everyone, bad news here. We took the RV out for a test run to visit friends in central Missouri over the weekend. When we got to their house, we discovered that the RV fell apart (slightly dramatized, but I’ll explain). First; the RV is a 2018 Crossroads Zinger 18SS. According to I sticker I have a picture of, it was built in January 2018. So imagine our surprise when we get into our RV, to begin setup, and find that a cabinet I had put cans of soup in had dislodged itself and was sitting (with the cans) on the furnace. Not only that, but the “wall” of the cupboard became 3/4 detached and you could see a couple dozen finishing nails sticking out. Then, once clearing the cupboard out, we turned around to unstrap the table and pillows from the couch, only to find that the couch is no longer bolted to the platform on one side (the couch is part of the slide out piece of the RV; and only 1 screw half way in on the other). Upon further examination, the platform that the couch is on, is also broken. One of the drawers in the kitchenette area will not stay attached to its ball bearing rail and tries to fall off each time it is pulled out. Super upset, I call #CampingWorldKC to tell them and they inform me (this was Friday the 4th of May) that they cannot get our RV in for service until Tuesday; this was their soonest appointment. I try to explain all of what is wrong and that dropping it off Tuesday is going to be an awful burden because my husband works, and an extra 6 hours of hauling a trailer with a broken pelvis is not ideal. Again, they insist that they cannot get us seen until Tuesday. Requested to speak to the manager and was told he was SFC until Monday. So I left messages with managers and the sales associate who sold us the unit, but had to concede to Tuesday because no one got back to us or answered the phone when we called during business hours. Luckily for me, Josh was able to get emergency time off to help me. We get to the Camping World of KC (where we purchased the rig) and the service associate began to walk through with us. It went from bad to worse. The cabinet that had fallen apart had also begun tearing away from the wall/ceiling. The ceiling itself was dipping (where it should have been solid) and was so warped that the covers for the interior speakers as well as the smoke detector began falling off the ceiling!!! Then while I was showing the lady the drawer, I noticed a giant area under the sink that sunlight was getting through! It appeared to be *** that had been covered on the outside with a mostly translucent clear substance. In the words of the service associate (who had been less than polite or helpful over the phone), “this is way worse than I thought, we may have to return it to the manufacturer.”. Then we go inside to sign the papers that authorizes them to work on the RV, the service associate informs me that they will have it diagnose in 1-2 days and once diagnosed they would send a report to the manufacturer who “may or may not” approve the warranty work. IF it is approved, it will take another 2-6 weeks to get parts in. I lost it, and said “so you mean to tell me that I could not drop off my RV until Tuesday because you didn’t have an open appointment, but it’s going to take you 1-2 days to even get it diagnosed???” Her response was yes. That is their police. No phone call Wednesday or Thursday. I got ahold of the sales associate and he promised he would look into it and see what my options were. No phone call until almost 2 pm. At which time, we get a message stating that his service manager is responsibility and so needed the service report before he could do any. THEN he says my rig was just starting to get looked at. JUST THEN. (This was less than an hour ago on the 10th). I ask you this rhetorically - why did I need an appointment?!? Ok. End rant...

Given all the defects you stated, my question is: didn't you thoroughly inspect the unit before buying it?

Shady practices all around

My husband and I were looking at trading in our toy hauler for a normal travel trailer since we are done needing to haul toys. We had looked online for the units we were interested in and walked in the door knowing exactly what we wanted to look at. The first unit we looked at was totally trashed. The previous owners had modified the unit and their dogs had destroyed the table, benches, and couch which we were told they would not fix it was just being sold as is. We looked in the fridge and there was black mold everywhere...we were told that they do not detail any trailers until after they are sold and they would clean out the fridge. They had windows open all over so you know the trailer really smelled as well. And they were asking almost new money for a 2 year old trailer that was trashed. I would not pay even 1/2 of what they were asking for that trailer. We were then told that if we wanted to figure out the value for our trade to take LOW value on NADA and divide it by 2. Really? They are delirious. She tried to tell us that we would be better off purchasing the new trailer first, then consigning with them to sell our old trailer. Again, this is a win win for camping world. They get a new loan (we are not planning on financing anything) and then if your trailer sits too long they are counting on you just taking the low ball value for your trade in so they can turn around and sell it for at least $10,000 more than they gave to you for it. Shady. We walked away and will never set foot in another camping world. Go somewhere else.
