Service department review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Camper World in Dothan has the worst customer service department that I have ever experienced. Our 2018 camper has been there for 4.5 months for minor repairs and still not complete. They ordered the same part four times...the first part was the wrong part, the next two were broken. For the next repair, they ordered the wrong color. Once, after Camper World had the camper for four months, the service manager called to ask if we had the camper or if they had the camper...which I reminded them that they had had the camper for the past four months. We still don't have the camper. It took Camper World about three weeks to determine that our ten-month-old camper was still under the twelve-month warranty.

Ripped Off

We purchased a Keystone 379FLOK and were billed for $12K in warranties (23% of the cost of the trailer!), all but one we specifically said we did not want. The only one we felt was necessary was the extended warranty since it has 6 slides and hydraulic Jack's. They automatically made it a 7 year warranty without asking us how many years we wanted it for. It took months of emails and phone calls that went mostly unanswered until we contacted the BBB and Illinoise Attorney General. Amazingly, we were issued the remaining money they owed us. This amounts to nothing more than retail theft! Will never do business with them again, even though we had a pretty good experience with their service department.

Please, please read...if you dont want to get ripped off!!! Camping World and Good Sam has a good scam running here! After purchase of the RV the salesman tells me about the Good Sam Club extended service plan. Tells me the ONLY time it is available is at this moment for the Good Sam premium coverage plan because the RV hasn't left the lot yet. Once it does it's not offered. He tells me the plan covers EVERYTHING! Tells me I would never having to pay for anything but brake pads for the brake system, and hoses, electrical, awning, door handles, everything I could imagine was covered except *** in the awing or furniture not caused by manufacturing. I asked about additional expenses, NONE! Only thing is if I had to call someone out because of something that made the RV immobile Good Sam would only go up to 250.00 for someone to come out, but all of what they did would be covered. I also MUST submit contract now with a credit card or pay in full at this time. The Good Sam Extended Service Plan IS NOT AVAILABLE once I leave the dealership. I asked repeatedly. He said NO! This was a Camping World which is suppose to be partnered or whatever with Good Sam.The plan sounded good even though it was quite expensive. Being new to rving with a new rv and having to go on the road quickly for a family emergency I decided to purchase it even though I didn't like the idea of not being able to think it over or having to attach a credit card. I didn't realize I was being so blatantly lied to. Your instinct is to believe an established business right? They are Good Sams partners or however their technical association is. I asked him for a copy of what was covered so I would have it with me in the RV when we left. He hands me the little advertising brochure and tells me the paperwork will be mailed to me for this Good Sam extended warranty and all of the information would be fully explained there. I should receive it in a few days.So we wait, the Good Sam credit card comes right away. We wait. Nothing comes for this Good Sam Extended Warranty and I have nothing - not even a claims number should something happen on the trip. NOTHING at all except this retail installment contract which when you go over it with a fine tooth comb once you visit the Good Sam website, you notice little things. So I went online to Good Sams to see if I could get a copy of what I was suppose to have. I find out that apparently you can purchase these warranties after leaving Camping World. I didn't go into everything, but they offer quotes. They also had a sample warranty and what was covered by what plan.So now, not only was I lied to about the ability to purchase the extended service plan that covered nearly everything once I left, I was also lied to about what I was purchasing!!!! According to the retail installment contract he had me sign for the plan he told me I was purchasing, it did not include everything he told me it did according to the Good Sam website!! His extended service plan was totally bogus according to the Good Sam website, except of course the money they would technically steal from me!!I believe I have not received anything because Camping World did not want me to find out yet I was ripped off from start to finish about this. I would have been able to purchase later AND what he told me was covered according to what he checked off on the installment contract does not match. The service agreement does not explain what is covered, but going through each of the things on the contract with what is on the Good Sam website, this contract IS NOT for what he told me I was purchasing. So I contacted Good Sam via chat on the website. I told him based on the retail installment contract I had in front of me I suspected there was a major problem and it looked like I was ripped off. He was totally useless and I mean useless. The guy asks me what I purchased etc and wouldn't go any further. Kept wanting an email address and would have a manager contact me. I had to keep telling him we were getting ready to leave tomorrow and I needed something to take with me. Email addresses wouldnt be checked soon. I didnt even have a claims number or anything. He said someone else would have to help me. I gave him my phone number. It's been hours now and no one has contacted me yet. This only solidifies its all one big scam!!!This coverage is not worth it at all and I can see why they have to lie to sell it. On top of all the above after he told me there was no other expenses (except maybe of someone had to come to me, their service call if it was over $250.00) he marked a $250.00 deductible before any work can be done!Im sure he thought I would be an easy rip off being female, but I'm also a Veteran I don't like to be ripped off. I will fight tooth and nail when someone lied so extensively to me. I think we all expect respect and honesty when dealing with businesses. I am so enraged right now that these 2 businesses are set up this way. Not only do I have to deal with an impending death of someone very close, I have to deal with this before we hit the road! Good Sam should have addressed my issue immediately by calling me to find out what was wrong and then going to investigate.I'm not done with this, I might have been ripped off, but I will get my moneys worth advertising what they did to me and I will make a complaint with state officials and every where I can when I get back.

You should hear all the BADS I have to say about Good Sam Extended Warranty. My most recent is an A/C failure and a black tank crack - - they are now calling it in to the extended warranty people after 5 days - they are saying tank failed due to build build up and the A/C failed doe to corrosion from moisture - - - sounds to me they are going to try to weasle they way out of covering my problems - - I will update!!!

this past weekend I experienced why people are so disgusted with these warrantees. I have good Sam road hazard warranty my son and I share coach and alternate monthly.

this is my month so went and got coach from his house and noticed tires on passenger front and rear big chunks missing from tires, called and got 2 claim numbers from good Sam, operator told me to have mobile tire company to call when they arrived, and so he called and explained the tires were coming undone due to chunks missing, my son told me he hit piece of angle iron but kept on coming home and so good Sam told me it sounds like defective tire and I should call Goodyear. tires are 9 years old and were in great shape and I don't think good year cares either .so beware of road hazard baloney, 800.00 later and 189.00 for warranty I have gained nothing but contempt for these companies as I have canceled my good Sam policies both coach and 5th wheel. You are on your own. all they do is lie and not pay.

this is American way with them. very disappointed in Bad Sam

3 years ago i purchased a hybrid camper from them, when i went to pick it up, they had it in a stall inside to show me the workings of the unit. They said that they couldn't unroll the awning because of the space we were in (red light) . So, i took the camper home and on the first trip we opened the awning and it was torn 3/4 of the length of it. I called and they said it was "as is" because it was a used camper. I fought with them for 4 months and finally they gave me the cost of the awning, but i had to pay the install. I was not happy, i thought they were very deceptive. Fast forward 3 years and we are ready for a class c motor home. We went to an event at NYS fair and saw the perfect coach we wanted and it was with Camping World . The salesman JUMPED on us and penned a deal quickly. I looked at the deal and it was giving me more than i expected for a trade, s i asked "is this right?" and he said yes, i need the deposit. We gave him $2k on the spot. Later in the week i decided to call Camping World to make arrangements for the pick up, and the sales manager looked at the SIGNED deal and said "there is a mistake" He said they "overstated the trade" .... here we go again i thought...... bottom line is they wanted $7k more. I said please refund my deposit immediately. from that point forward i was treated like a POS . 3 weeks later and i still do not have the money back!!!! They are giving me the run around. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!! I bought a new class c at MEYER'S RV for less than the used one with the exact floor plan!!!!! Still do not have my deposit back!!!!

Wow, 3 RV complaints out of 8 posts right now ... cementing their position as the most complained of bigger ticket item receiving regular posts to this website. I'm afraid the sellers of such things must view their customers as "fish on the hook".

Do Not Purchase from Camping World

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My Family decided to purchase a new Travel Trailer and it was a big decision for us. We did some research and initially weren't scared off by the bad reviews of Camping World. We decided to purchase a Coleman 3015bh and all the warranties that came with it. We used it for one season and traveled. The unit had issues. I brought it in for service and scheduled well ahead of time. Of all the issues none were really addressed the others I was told weren't covered under warranty. I complained... So they said leave it here until the Manufacturers Warranty Expires and We will "Try and Get it Covered under Good Sam Insurance." SCAM. Asked for refund of warranty. Waited 2+ months. Filed Complaint with BBB and still unresolved. Unit is 2 years old. We don't beat it up. Poor Quality. Poor Service. We were lied to. I asked them to back up their product and fix the issues. If someone pays 30k+ for something it shouldn't start falling apart within the first year? Awning,Doors falling out of ceiling, electrical problems, jacks, roof leaks, exterior fenders blowing apart on thruway, tires don't last 5k, glue joints leaking on tank valves, microwave falling out, slides jump all over, outdoor kitchen slide screws just falling out everywhere. Ran into the Sales Woman who is no longer an employee and she stated. "I clubbed you on that deal" Lol. Those things are junk and they are made by a bunch of *** Heads in Mexico." Really unhappy with my purchase and still owe 27k. Might last another season not sure?

Beware of Finance dept

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Take a good look at interest rates before you decide to finance with these crooks. Try USAA or Alliant Credit Union. Their rates are lower than what Camping World offers. Don’t but the Good Sam insurance at the dealership! Call them directly and save hundreds if not thousands. Try RV America for the insurance for savings. Stay away, too many fees and when your RV falls apart, nobody is going to answer the phone....

Worst Experience of My Life

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
So my fiance' & I went to Camping World of Oakwood to purchase a 2017 Luxury Jayco North Pointe 5th Wheel. after looking at 5th wheel we went in office to talk. Of course sugar was dripping out of the fiance manager Jason McKelvey day of purchase. I hace perfect credit score as well as a trade in. They were ready to do business. So during fiance/purchase process they offer warranties in different tiers. We were told by Jason McKelvey we could change our minds & get any or all warranties removed/cancelled anytime no problem. With in 7 days of purchase I was back in the office to cancel all warranties. Boy let me tell you!! When I told Jason McKelvey I changed my mind on the warranties his demeanor changed! He called all excited, anxious, VERY loud with me. He was telling me I need those warranties because all rv's are made to tear up! I He was doing all this figuring & #'S trying to tell me why I needed to keep the warranties. Some how bullied me into canceling the road side assistance. So then he went into another room to deal with other customers. He made me wait forever before he brought paper work to sign. By then I got my fiance' to come back to the office. I told him what had taken place. When Jason McKelvey came back into the room my fiance" told Jason, "We do not want the warranties." Jason left he room, left us sitting there for ever. Never said bye or anything. He totally ingnored my request that day. Needless to say I'm still fighting with him over this. He gives me a different story every week. I believe nothing he says. I just wonder how many more people are out there like me? I know I'm not the only one. Not to mention the day of delivery we waited over 2 hrs. because they couldn't get the middle leveling jacks to work. They still don't work. Jayco is hopefully going to cover the jacks & labor. Camping World of Oakwood never called once to see how things were going. The minute you sign on the dotted line you're SCREWED!!! Stay away from Camping World OF Oakwood!! They SUCK!!!

Needed 2 new side cams for my coach. Went to store in Cocoa FL and the service writer wrote a contract for the parts AND installation. At the time, there was an installation special (INSTALL ANYTHING $59.95). As expected they charged that price for each side, ordered the parts and set an installation date of Jan. 28 2019. 2 days later I got a call form them saying it was not a warranty issue???? I NEVER SAID IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Unfortunately I would have to pay $680 just for installation!!!!!!!!!!! So I cancelled the whole thing. This is pure BS! ***

Dived a bullet last minute

The trailer (Coleman 1805RB 22.9 Feet for $14,993.00) I was going to buy is now for sale again. DO NOT BUY IT. It has major Delamination issues. *Came to pick up this trailer October 20, 2018. We had our walk-thru with Steve and she shared many tips and was good but failed to mention that the bubbles on the front and back we should be concerned with. *After the walk-thru we went thru the documents as we financed through our Credit Union so we would not have any of the issues on the financing mentioned in many reviews. *We then went out to hitch up the trailer and as my husband was backing his truck up I noticed the sun hit the trailer and their were numerous air pockets under the fiberglass so I asked about them. Steve, the technician said he would get the manager and he told me to not have my husband hook up the RV. ( If we would of the RV would of been ours) The manager came out Red-faced and said didn't your salesperson Craig tell you about the Delamination of the RV? WHAT? Funny thing Craig had the day off so they could blame it on him. *Needless to say we got our Credit Union check back and our deposit. Whew! Please do not buy from them. This company and employees are very dishonest and crooked and only out to make a sale. They now have this RV for sale again and are looking for the next sucker to fall for their lies. At least it wasn't me.

Product and Service of Camping World where bought

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am writing this letter in hopes that Camping World will step up to the professional standard that they portray. I have over 670 followers on my facebook page and over 540 on another facebook page entitled “Two VT Girls On An Adventure”. I also belong to many RV sites that also have a lot of followers. They are all interested on how this will end. On November 9, 2017 I bought a slightly used 2017 Grand Design 357 BHS from Camping World in Bartow Florida. I had been researching RVs for a year and decided that the 5th wheel Grand Design was the best one for my needs. A friend and I were going to travel the US for a year. Being 2 women, we wanted to have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I inspected the camper minus the LCI 3.0 system and the gas line from one tank to the other. I gave them a punch list along with asking that the camper be checked over for anything else and that the unit would be cleaned. There was a recall on the unit, so I could not pick it up as planned. They called and explained that once they had the part, they would call me to set up an appointment to come get the RV. I asked that a keyless entry also be installed. They did do that. I was called and made an appointment just before Thanksgiving. The person delivering the unit came out to greet us. He started showing us some things about the RV. I did mention that they did not clean the RV very well and he stated they don’t get them all that clean, just the little stuff. He also showed us how to empty the black tanks and the grey tanks. While doing some of that he received a call stating that his next delivery was here. He was upset that they were here, and he had to driven with me yet. So instead of being rushed thru I told him, I would not have a problem rescheduling a time to pick up the RV. I did ask him to have them flush out the tanks since it was used. That was not done either. It was running into Thanksgiving, so I scheduled it for after December 1. We set up the appointment for 5 days into the future. When I got there, the RV still had not been cleaned, nor were the tanks cleaned out. When I got there, he had me back up the truck and hooked to the RV. He could not get the LCI 3.0 system to work and went in to get a battery pack because he stated that battery was dead. He said he overrode the mistake on the LCI system and brought up the levelers. We rode around the park and the street around it for some practice. He never showed me anything else in the camper and said we were good to go. I had to go in and pay for the keyless entry and when I came out he was getting his battery pack out of where the battery was. He said he almost forgot it. Told us good luck and sent us on our way. My ride home was two hours away. When I arrived home and ready to use the LCI 3.0 system, it would not work. I called Camping World, but they were closed. I called LCI and they said to check the voltage in the battery. When I went to check the battery, the cables were not attached, the battery box and screws were all over the place and of course the battery exhaust was not attached. I had to park my new 5th wheel attached to my truck in the Walmart parking lot. The next day I called Camping World and stated I wanted a new battery, the keys to my unit, (they did not give me the outside keys) and for them to come out to fix my LCI 3.0 leveling system. They sent someone out. It took him almost 2 hours to try and reset the system. Finally, after many attempts and phone calls it worked. But the problem was not solved because I went to move it on December 31 to a camping area, I had problems with it again. Two other people came to our rescue, but they had a very hard time getting it to work. When I got to our first destination, we again had trouble but were able to fix it by looking it up on youtube. It got very cold there and that’s when we discovered that Camping World did not even fill the tanks. The main problem with that was the gas line was also defective. Doesn’t Camping World check over problems before selling a unit? I think NOT! We were in Lafayette LA and we could not get the right front leveler to move. Nothing was working so I decided we would get someone out to help get the levelers all up and get to somewhere, where someone could help us fix this once and for all. I called Camping World twice, (not the one in Bartow) but the local one and they never called back. I called a few places, and everyone was booked up. We went to Alamo Texas where there was a certified technician who could help us immediately. I told him of the problems I have been having with this unit since I got it. He was on the phone for many times with LCI (Luppert) trying to help us. They told them I should really have two batteries running this unit. That is was the battery always giving us trouble. Well, if that is the case why isn’t it sold with two? The technician hooked up the second battery and was able to reset the LCI system. Everything is level and hopefully fixed. The real test will be this Friday when we got to hook up and when we get to our destination. When my technician was here, he tried calling camping world for several days and spoke with one of the managers who said he would talk to another manager and get back to him. Of course, he never did. Back on January 17th I called Camping World Cooperate. They gave me an email acknowledging my concerns and gave me a case number 728814 but I have yet to hear from someone. How rude and unprofessional is that? I did send a letter to Grand Design a few days ago but have not heard back. I spent 1. 130.00 for a service call in Lafayette LA 2. 150.00 for a new additional battery 3.65.00 for battery box and cables 4.216.00 for gas line, regulator and parts for faulty propane gas line 5.600.00 in labor (which he gave me a break on because of all the problems I was having) I have paid out more than $1000.00 on repairs that should have been corrected before I took it home. This letter is hoping that someone will stand up and do the right thing and reimburse me for these repairs that I should not have had to do when I just bought the unit a few months ago. You can reach me by email or phone number. Email is Tangolegz@***.com and my phone number is 802-881-****. I have been on the phone constantly with LCI since taking possession of this unit. I have been on the phone leaving messages with Camping World many times and my service technician has also. You people do not even have the professionalism it takes to call back. That is very disappointing. I have read many bad reviews about Camping World by many people, but I did not believe it. Let’s see if its true. This letter will be going to Grand Design Cooperate, LCI, Camping World Cooperate and Camping World in Bartow Florida. Look forward at least to a phone call. Thank you in advance for any consideration you give this.

Bought a Jayco 33RTBS LAST December. Had water leaks and they could not repair problem. Now I take my camper back for it’s annual check up and service guy calls me up to say there are some issues with my roof and it will cost me to repair them. I bought a extended warranty also. I was thinking about buying a new fifth wheel this year but I promise it will not be with camping world
