Camping World in Jackson, Mississippi - Very valuable lesson learned.

1.0
Details
Just wanted to share a very valuable lesson learned. This is an update on my previous review posted. We have learned that the only way a warranty will be covered on your roof is that you keep receipts for purchased products needed to maintain the roof. It is not necessary to purchase their $399.00 roof maintenance service as they have been telling a lot of people. However, we did not know that we needed to be saving receipts as proof of roof maintenance. Also take pictures of your roof periodically time stamped with dates and by all means take pictures the day you do your roof maintenance. I would even probably take a video just to be on the safe side. You will need all of this information in order for your word to stick about your roof maintenance even if your roof looks immaculate. If you purchase a Forest River product, being they own 40% of the RV industry, apparently allows them to take five times as long to get the needed parts to the locations for repair. So steer clear of Forest River products. This is the company which taught us a very valuable lesson of roof maintenance proof. They do not like to honor their product even if it is a defect as proven. Our camper was a 2016 Wildcat and we had treated the roof four different times but the glue was separating from the rubber roof product. We were told by two different service departments this was a defect and Forest River would replace the roof. Well they started fighting from the word get go but unfortunately the people selling their products would not fight back. So, understand you are purchasing a product and you were pretty much on your own if you were denied and also make sure that the words chosen to describe a defect are accurate and can be supported with pictures or video. You make sure as the consumer that you see all of this information before it is submitted no one is going to fight for you except for you. It's unfortunate that the same energy put into selling you the camper is NOT I REPEAT, NOT put in to helping you maintain the camper. Do you know why, because their handy dandy salesmen are waiting to pluck you out of the service department in your time of despair to sell you a new camper. I'm not making this up go back and read a lot of the other reviews do your research. Also, apparently all of the RV companies close two weeks for Christmas and a week for Thanksgiving so allow extra time for your RV to be in the shop during this season. If you are an easy pushover, take someone strong with you if you are still choosing to use this company. Camping world has nailed down a great hustle and apparently a very lucrative hustle because they continue to open stores. My only concern really are the elderly and the weak who choose to do business with them. I know there is someone's grandmother and grandpa other out there who possibly wanted to retire but cannot do you to being suckered into their scam. I even got corporate involved. The only option Kenny Durham gave me was to return my camper with the defect roof that was not going to be replaced due to choice of words and inaccurate pictures which were sent. Which I blame part of this on myself for not checking what the service department was sending in to Forest River. Of course we checked afterwords but the damage had already been done. Forest River ran with the wear and tear comment that the young boy sent in because he could care less. To our knowledge he was fired. Not because of our ordeal but because he was always sitting around on his phone playing and half doing his job. So let me see.... do I keep a brand new camper which I feel I paid a little too much for, or do I get my old camper back with a roof that I will have to replace even though we did the maintenance and the new service guy as well as the others who looked at it 100% felt that it was a company defect. After the new service manager saw our dilemma, he sent in new pictures that clearly showed the problem unlike the previous pictures which were taken in the dark. For it to be covered by Forest River it had to show a 6 inch diameter bubble. It was only showing a 5 1/2 inch bubble. You've been warned. If you're needing parts for your RV that you can fix then order them online or find a mom and pop shop that can help you out. If you're in Mississippi or a close state and know of an awesome place with awesome service for RVs that has ratings and people that can back it up please shoot me an email. jndcockrell@yahoo.com. We just so happen to be looking for a new future service department. I also noticed, as I was reading through the comments, they give reviews for themselves. Now you know it's bad when you have to do this. STAY AWAY!

Never buy from Camping World again

I purchased a brand new 2017 Stryker 3112 right at 50k from Richmond Indiana Camping World. Sales people were great. Sold me everything under the sun. Bought feb 2017 delieveres to my home 2 weeks later. 1st camping trip was manorial day in May. Awning would not retract so I had to roll it in by hand while wife push button also no hot water. Called service set up an appointment to drop off the following Saturday. I arrived at 9 am as instructed and waited 5 hours to be checked in. I recieves a call from service 2 weeks later that there was a problem that ( I ) had to have hit something because the roof had a 3’ long tear in it. I ask for pictures and they sent 2 which it was tore and the plywood was showing. The plywood had no signs of any water damage nor did any ceiling or walls have any water damage but they said he had to have come to them that way. Indiana springs are notorious for being wet and stormy. I had to replace the roof at a cost over 8500.00. Camping World would not start or even order the material until my insurance company came and approved the cost. So this is now June. They have my camper from the end of May until mid Aug with no updates return phone calls or answers when I drove to check on my now 58k camper. I called the main office and told them what had went on and they said someone would contact me within two days. The end of Aug I get a call my camper is done come pick it up along with a check for another 1250.00. I go to pick it up and the roof looks fine. I check the awning it goes out and won’t retract. I walk thru my camper and there are parts to someone else’s camper on the bedspread in the master bed room. Parts that did not belong to my camper let alone on my bed spread. The bathroom ceilings fans had not been out back together after being removed to replace the roof nor was the AC cover. Service said they get right on it. 6 hours later I’m leaving awning still doesn’t work. They sent a tech to my house and replace the motor on the awning 3 times with the same result. Spring of 2018 we take camper on our first trip to find that the AC now does not blow in the living room kitchen area but does in the garage and master bedroom awning still goes out on its own won’t retract unless I roll it while button is pushed. I decide I would take camper to another camping world for different hopefully better service in oct 2018 as I purshaces the full extended warranty where I would spen no more than 100 dollars out of pocket on any repair they camping world. I take it to the Greenwood Camping World in Indianapolis. I explain the poor service poor communication and just want my camper correct. I’m told they hate to work on something someone else has worked on but would take a look as it was another Camping World. Received a call today 4 weeks later that the awning nor AC vents are covered under the high dollar warranty I purchased and I would need to pay another 540 dollars to get my camper fixed. I guess I’m not sure what the 3000 dollar extended warranty covers and was also told that to preserve my paint finish on the exterior I really need to have a lifetime clear sealer put on it for 1100. I said that’s funny because it was bought and paid for over a year ago when I bought the camper. Like I said they have good sale people. I will never do business with this company again. I will drive 500 miles out of my way or past Camping World to get better service.

Original review posted by user Jan 01

Bought a used camper from Camping World Rapid City in May of 2016. The 'agent' harassed me into purchasing an extended warranty (Good Sam's Club), which I didn't want and finally gave in after numerous assurances that it would pay for itself and they had a mobile repair guy (I had been clear from the outset that the camper would not be moveable... ) He also put in Gap insurance, which I also had repeatedly said I didn't want... due to circumstances beyond my control, I could not simply walk out and he knew it. But the real issue is the fraud. Knowingly selling me a warranty that could never be used. The warranty and the BS gap insurance added 25% to my total cost. They owe me $3700. They have a pattern of "responding" to complaints with "gosh we are so sorry, we are opening a case file" yada yada yada... but it's all for show. So now, I'll go public every single chance can to warn folks to never go there. I wish I had seen all the complaints about Camping World before I went there...

Camping World in Marietta, Georgia - What a Joke

Details
I placed a order with Camping World on the 4th of December. After a week 9 December 2018 I called for a status and was told by Camping World my awning I ordered will be coming from the manufacture "Dometic". I was told Dometic does not send Camping World status or shipping info on orders. I had to request them to call Dometic and get me a idea when I can expect my awning. They told me my awning had shipped. So, I waited another week. NOTHING, On 13 December 2018 I called Camping World again and asked them what is going on. I was told the awning was shipped, give a couple more days. I waited and on 18 December 2018 no awning and I called. Had to ask Camping World to call Manufacture, they did and then gave me a tracking number that Dometic had from Central Freight. Called on 21 December, no awning and guess what, I called Central Freight and the tracking number did not exist. Called Camping World whom called Dometic and came back and told me Dometic must have wrote down the wrong number. 26 December 2018 called Camping World whom called Dometic whom called Central Freight with the same tracking number and was told Central Freight had picked up my order today. Central Freight sent info on the shipment saying it was scheduled for delivery 26 December 2018 between 5 PM and 10 PM. Nothing, 27 December 2018 called Central Freight and was told they had to set up a delivery van for delivery and I would get it on 28 December 2018. Nothing, called Central Freight and was told the delivery was in a truck to large for delivery in a subdivision. They have to schedule a delivery some time time after the New Year. I will never deal with any of these outfits again. I guess Central Freight only had one drive>

Camping World in Dothan, Alabama - Service department review

1.0
Details
Camper World in Dothan has the worst customer service department that I have ever experienced. Our 2018 camper has been there for 4.5 months for minor repairs and still not complete. They ordered the same part four times...the first part was the wrong part, the next two were broken. For the next repair, they ordered the wrong color. Once, after Camper World had the camper for four months, the service manager called to ask if we had the camper or if they had the camper...which I reminded them that they had had the camper for the past four months. We still don't have the camper. It took Camper World about three weeks to determine that our ten-month-old camper was still under the twelve-month warranty.

Camping World in Tulsa, Oklahoma - Montana Heat duct Issue

Camping World - Montana Heat duct Issue
We have a 2018 Montana High Country 381TH. It was delivered to us in July 2017 but not opened or used until Late spring of 2018. Camper has worked fine until we had to turn on the furnace and found no air flow coming into the bedroom or the bathroom. We have good air flow and good heat coming from the ducts in the living room and kitchen but nothing in the bedroom and nothing in the bathroom. Try sitting on that throne when it is 28 degrees outside and no heat in the bathroom. Fast forward to where are today. I got instructions about where a tube coming from the furnace to the basement area was located and how the problem was associated with the tube maybe slipping off the connection to the rear heater ducts. I opened the wall and much to my surprise the tube appears to be intact and connected. I pulled the heater tube loose and again to my surprise I have little if any airflow coming from tube. This would tend to say the tube is either crushed, obstructed or cut open somewhere between the furnace and the basement area. This is entirely under the floor. All contained in the frame and no one wants anything to due with it. Since this is OBVIOUSLY a workmanship issue, how does Keystone justify not fixing the issue without me having to file on my personal insurance? They don't justify it, they just will not fix it... As a first time buyer of a full time 5th wheel, this trailer had the floor plan we wanted and the price was competitive but the service work and from what I can see from the posts everywhere the warranty system SUCKS. Unless things change, Keystone will not be where I spends the dollars for a new coach in a few years.

Camping World in New York, New York - RV Cover

Camping World - RV Cover
Would like to show that my top of the line RV cover didn't last a month and a half. You would think 350.00 would last longer. That was the est. Sale price. They cost more than that reg. At the top of my RV is a part of the gutter system that protrudes about an 2 inches out the backside. The cover which is supposed to be strong and durable, didn't hold up at all.
