Awful Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We ordered a Coleman roof A/C unit from Camping World. It was stated on our receipt, that the unit would be shipped to us within 5-10 business days. The unit finally arrived one month later. Customer Service was useless... Give your business to another company who will provide support and assistance. Awful company to work with...

Purchased extended warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
When we purchased our trailer 12/21/15 we purchased the extended warranty and were told that it covered everything that the original warranty covered. Everything was to be covered except the tires and wheels. When the laminate started peeling off the counter top/table/vanity top/ side tables by bed we took the unit in and at that time they replaced the counter and table tops. I took it back to have the other tops replaced and was told that it was out of warranty and that the extended warranty only covered mechanical and electrical issues.................We paid $1,800 plus for this warranty.

WORST EVER!!! DO NOT BUY FROM CW!!!!!

We thought buying new would be better boy were we wrong.. This is the 2nd camper we have owned, the first was a used TT we bought 2nd hand from a private person used it for 6-7 years with no issued until towards the end with a leaking roof . which is to be expected with the age of the camper. So we decided to buy new and have about 15-20 years before issues start to arise. Boy was we completely wrong. Went to camping world on April 29 2018 and found a camper we really liked I was kind of picky and it had to be perfect. We went with the 2018 Heartland Pioneer 30BHS, The sales gentlemen we dealt with was very nice and down to earth . They had 3 of the same camper on the lot we went through all 3, one the ceiling was sagging in the bedroom so my husband said no, then 2nd the underbody was sagging and my husband said no so we went with the 3rd choice no issues we could see Signed the paperwork the same day Paula the Camping world Manager Of Roanoke Va was the one who helped us with the loan process and paper work and explained what all the PERKS that came with purchasing from them ( what a joke) such as the good sams club membership with Roadside assistance. Completed the process and left out unit there they said they needed to (CLEAN) it up and get it ready. On May 5th 2018 we made the hour trip back to Roanoke va to pick up our camper. Get there they say everything is ready the service dept comes out and and does a walk-through of the camper and shows us how to work everything. Upon retracting the awning in it stuck with the service man and he just kinda said hmmm wonder what’s wrong with that and kept hitting the button until finally it started working again. That should have been my first clue! This was going to be a terrible experience. We head home and it rains the entire time all the way we get there and park the camper in our yard . The next morning my husband gets up and goes outside to set the camper up and level it so he can unhook from the truck. He comes in about 30 mins after and says we have a problem I said what?? He says the slide it leaking he walked in to a puddle of water in the floor at the corner of the slide.( We thought the service man didn’t slide the slide in tight) we contacted the guy who sold us the camper on May 6th,2018 with a video and pictures of the leak and asked how could this already happen we haven’t even got to use this!! We were directed to call the service dept in the A.M We contacted service May 7th 2018 they said bring it in.. Well we couldn’t take it until after Memorial day weekend we had 2 camping trips already reserved and paid for during our memorial day trip the camper still continued to leak at the seal of the slide soaked the floor and wall to the point the floor was starting to bow up on the slide and then our awning decides not to work. Then we find busted boards over the fridge the wood is busted on the medicine cabinet in the bath room trim is pulling off around the counters and doors we note all of this before we take it back...We Dropped the Camper off on 06/2/18 and was told it would be worked on 6/11/18 told them we needed it back no later than 06/30/18 because we had another camping trip reserved for 7/4/18 and we needed it so we could get ready and pack it to leave we wouldn’t be able to make the trip of the evenings during the week to pick the camper up because of work scedules. Called 6/15,6/18/,6/21 left messages with no return phone calls. 6/22/18 Finally got to speak to service dept manager that the part was just order on 6/21/18????? Why??? They have had my camper almost a month and the part was just ordered?!?!? My husband was very upset and he called back and spoke to another guy (Larry) Which was very nice and said it would be ready but Saturday 6/30/18. We pick the camper up on 6/30/18 things (LOOK) like they have been fixed .. I was reviewing the paperwork and it stated no known problem with awing no fix needed. I was like we told them it wasn’t constant it was like their was a short in the wire somewhere. We get the camper home get it packed for out 4th of July trip get up there to our spot go to set up. (AWNING WONT WORK)!!! My husband had to wiggle some wires to get it to start working.. that was the only issue on this trip. 7/21/18 getting camping ready to go for a week trip over 3 hours away from our home reservations made and paid for. Camper is packed by 5:30 Saturday evening on 7/21/18 we are leaving 7/22/18 @ 8 in the morning. Go to slide the slide in just makes a grinding sound nothing will move in or out. I start freakin!! If it aint one thing its another with this camper!! Husband does some looking to see what the problem is and finds out that a Actuator has went bad and needs to be replaced .. I said well we have Roadside they will come repair it.. One the phone for over 3 hours!!!! And no help they finally get me to someone and tell me is going to be $100 per hour a 2 hour min and $25 per mile the guy travels to get to my home plus parts!!! Im so mad at this point I am like isn’t this what my warranty is for!?!?!?!? She said maam im sorry but we know nothing about your warranty you will have to settle that with your dealer. Well we are going to pay the man because we got to leave in the morning get the contact number for the repair man and he doesn’t even carry the part he said that’s got to be special order to manufacturer!! Im like what to do now.. Husband goes and figures out how to manually crank the slide inn and puts ratchet straps to hold it in place. Called the guys we bought off of and told him to let service know we would be dropping off on 7/27/18 on our way back he said ok will do. 7/27/18 Dropped camper off explained what was wrong this time and told them the awning was still messing up and the seal on the slide they replaced was ripped. Said we needed it back by 8/25/18 we had another trip the 8/30/18 Ellis from service calls my husband on 8/21/18 and states they have no parts they haven’t come my husband talks to several people at camping world to see what is taking so long Including Paula the lady that processed the loan!! And she was VERY VERY RUDE and didn’t care about anything we said she just couldn’t help us .. told us to call Heartland my husband said isn’t that yalls job she said it would be better for you to call.. So we did heartland stated they had no order for the actuator or anything else.!?!?!? My husband calls back to camping world on 8/22/18 and camping world of course gives us the run around and blames Heartland for everything!! Call heartland back and they state we just got the order this morning 8/22/18 someone lying!! And I think its CW..!!! Ok so on 8/23/18 we call back to CW still no parts they said call back to heartland so my husband does they said well we can overnight them but it will cost to do that.. WE called CW to see if they would request to Overnight Paula stated we would have to PAY to have that im like really!!?!?!?? Called Heartland back they ended of overnighting at no charge to us.. 8/25/18 my husband goes to camping world our camping is still being worked on in the bay. Goes to find the manager Paula gets into a altercation with her and she states I understand your pissed but I DON’T CARE!! Really these are the type of people you have running a company you pay $27,000 for something and its sit on the dealers lot more than it has your own home and you make your first 3payment while its sitting on the dealers lot and you still don’t care!!!!! The only thing they got fixed was the slide the seal wasn’t fixed or the awning.. we still have to take it back!!!! We get to our camping spot on 8/30/18 everything works fine sitting up. 8/31/18 we get a rain storm awning starts leaking right at the door soaks the inside of our door. While its raining I decide to sit the dining room table into a bed this is first time weve tried this out since having the camper because the kids wanted to lay and watch tv while it was raining… get it all sit up go to lay down on it the table collapse the boards pull away from the seating it was only held by 4 small staples on both sides!!! I’m livid at this point!!! No more issue until we go to leave an I see where they said they suppose ably fixed the bathroom cabinet bored with a new cabinet.. yea right !! I noticed they just put tape over it!!! We still have to take the camper back and im not looking forward to this!! Don’t wasted your time with CW!!! They are a JOKE!!! They do not care about the customer at all!!! Once you sign them papers they own you!!!!...

We are in the market for a camper because our 2018 was destroyed in a storm in June. I have looked on line at camping world. After reading these reviews, I WILL not be buying from cw.

We were interested in purchasing a used 2014 Winnebago quite a distance away but it had all the features we wanted. Alarm bells started ringing when they refused to negotiate the price as it was on consignment, or go to the owners with an offer and refused to give us a history of service on the RV. They wanted a retainer to hold it and run our credit which they said they would not do until a retainer. At the last minute before we pulled out. We found after they ran our credit anyway without our permission or a retainer. We have an email from the salesperson saying it was their mistake, however no manager would call me back. I contacted the states Attorney General, included the email, etc and the company said I gave them permission and that was as far as it got..the attorney general believed them. I was NOT looking for anything OTHER than a letter from Camping World to the 3 major credit bureaus that it was their mistake....see we had just refinanced our house and had enough pings on our credit....No satisfaction from Camping World or that states Attorney General office.

Very valuable lesson learned.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Just wanted to share a very valuable lesson learned. This is an update on my previous review posted. We have learned that the only way a warranty will be covered on your roof is that you keep receipts for purchased products needed to maintain the roof. It is not necessary to purchase their $399.00 roof maintenance service as they have been telling a lot of people. However, we did not know that we needed to be saving receipts as proof of roof maintenance. Also take pictures of your roof periodically time stamped with dates and by all means take pictures the day you do your roof maintenance. I would even probably take a video just to be on the safe side. You will need all of this information in order for your word to stick about your roof maintenance even if your roof looks immaculate. If you purchase a Forest River product, being they own 40% of the RV industry, apparently allows them to take five times as long to get the needed parts to the locations for repair. So steer clear of Forest River products. This is the company which taught us a very valuable lesson of roof maintenance proof. They do not like to honor their product even if it is a defect as proven. Our camper was a 2016 Wildcat and we had treated the roof four different times but the glue was separating from the rubber roof product. We were told by two different service departments this was a defect and Forest River would replace the roof. Well they started fighting from the word get go but unfortunately the people selling their products would not fight back. So, understand you are purchasing a product and you were pretty much on your own if you were denied and also make sure that the words chosen to describe a defect are accurate and can be supported with pictures or video. You make sure as the consumer that you see all of this information before it is submitted no one is going to fight for you except for you. It's unfortunate that the same energy put into selling you the camper is NOT I REPEAT, NOT put in to helping you maintain the camper. Do you know why, because their handy dandy salesmen are waiting to pluck you out of the service department in your time of despair to sell you a new camper. I'm not making this up go back and read a lot of the other reviews do your research. Also, apparently all of the RV companies close two weeks for Christmas and a week for Thanksgiving so allow extra time for your RV to be in the shop during this season. If you are an easy pushover, take someone strong with you if you are still choosing to use this company. Camping world has nailed down a great hustle and apparently a very lucrative hustle because they continue to open stores. My only concern really are the elderly and the weak who choose to do business with them. I know there is someone's grandmother and grandpa other out there who possibly wanted to retire but cannot do you to being suckered into their scam. I even got corporate involved. The only option Kenny Durham gave me was to return my camper with the defect roof that was not going to be replaced due to choice of words and inaccurate pictures which were sent. Which I blame part of this on myself for not checking what the service department was sending in to Forest River. Of course we checked afterwords but the damage had already been done. Forest River ran with the wear and tear comment that the young boy sent in because he could care less. To our knowledge he was fired. Not because of our ordeal but because he was always sitting around on his phone playing and half doing his job. So let me see.... do I keep a brand new camper which I feel I paid a little too much for, or do I get my old camper back with a roof that I will have to replace even though we did the maintenance and the new service guy as well as the others who looked at it 100% felt that it was a company defect. After the new service manager saw our dilemma, he sent in new pictures that clearly showed the problem unlike the previous pictures which were taken in the dark. For it to be covered by Forest River it had to show a 6 inch diameter bubble. It was only showing a 5 1/2 inch bubble. You've been warned. If you're needing parts for your RV that you can fix then order them online or find a mom and pop shop that can help you out. If you're in Mississippi or a close state and know of an awesome place with awesome service for RVs that has ratings and people that can back it up please shoot me an email. jndcockrell@***.com. We just so happen to be looking for a new future service department. I also noticed, as I was reading through the comments, they give reviews for themselves. Now you know it's bad when you have to do this. STAY AWAY!

It’s been two weeks or more awaiting a warranty replacement of my domectic AC unit on my Mercedes class c camper. They said 7 to 8 days after they order it but it’s been pass that . Got charged a diognistic fee which was a waste of time when I told them the problem. I am a certified AC tech from the military. I would like to pick up my unit and not pay anything at this point because of the excuses they have in getting a new one. They said I can’t do without paying diagnostic fee ,the service mananger said I can cancel work order. The service rep handling the job said I have to pay diognostic fee and give credit no for unit on its way??????

Pissed off customer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to camping world to purchase a camper for $13,000 it was used. I was also trading in my camper which they offered me $8,500 for mine. I did outside financing so they told me to go ahead and get it all brought it and we would pick up our new camper. We get to camping world and it’s 4:30. They tell my husband to unload the camper and go look at our new one. Once looking in the showroom they tell us they have a problem with our camper. We walk out and they tell us we have water damage all over our camper. We have never even had 1 leak!!! My husband gets pissed and yells at me and says let’s go this is a joke. He now has to load our camper completely back up. I ask to talk to the GM. They tell me he isn’t there. Then stutters and says uh,uh, uh here he is. So they clearly lied to me and didn’t let me talk to the GM. They I demand my deposit back. Which they say they can’t give me back now because it’s after 5 and they are closed. They assured me I would get it by Tuesday in the mail. Guess what, never received my deposit. So I call back and guess what? They have never heard of me , can’t find my name, so guess what now they won’t give me my deposit back. I call corporate and complain on them and receive a phone call from Richmond camping world. I call him back, never got an answer. I contact the sales guy I dealt with and he says it will be in the mail and should be there by Friday. So I’m still waiting on my deposit, and am reassured they will NEVER RECEIVE MY BUSINESS again!! They are very SHADY people!! Save your time and go to Modern Trailer Sales! They are the best

Warranty Cancellation

Complaint On March 25, 2019 we purchased a 2015 Winnebago Trend (VIN # ending in 118677) from Camping World RV Sales, 14200 SE US Hwy 441, Ocala, FL. 34991. We were told by the Finance Manager, Cale Rogers, that purchasing an extended warranty would get us a better interest rate from M&T bank so we did purchase the extended warranty policy, number 8186****. We never filed ANY claims. We subsequently discovered that his claim about the “lower” interest rate being tied to the warranty policy was not true and formally cancelled the warranty policy in writing with an account executive named Chris who works for Assurant, Inc. (the warranty policy underwriter) located at 400 Carillon Pkwy, #300,St Petersburg, FL 33716 on April 22, 2019. She assured us that they had received out written cancellation on the 22nd of April and forwarded it to Camping World on the 23rd, and that we would receive a check for the entire amount ($4,700.00) from Camping world within a 4 to 6 week timeframe. Additionally, we sent a letter to Cale at Camping World on April 22nd with the same cancellation request. 5 weeks later we called to Assurant to check on the cancellation and spoke with an account executive named Anthony. He told us our policy was still active and that Cale at Camping world had not returned the cancellation form sent him on the 22nd. Our understanding is that they can begin charging us fees after 60 days. Additionally, we spoke with a supervisor named Jennifer who told us she would follow up on the cancellation, but provided little in the way of information on what that might accomplish. She seemed unconcerned with our issue (let’s face it they weren’t going to be making money, so what the heck do they care) and would not allow us to speak with her supervisor and would not give us her supervisor’s name or contact information. We have tried at least 5 times to contact Cale Rogers directly and He has ignored our calls. I guess spending $60,000 at Camping World buys us no good will. Once the money is spent at Camping World, you can forget about any attempt at Customer Satisfaction! This is an obvious and intentional attempt by Cale Rogers and Assurant to stall and delay our refund. They will soon be allowed to collect cancellation charges. We feel that we’ve been lied to by both Assurant and Camping World. This policy was sold to us under the false statement that the bank would give us a low rate if we purchased a warranty.

Faulty Trailer and repairs

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We are in! Please contact us! elliott-amy@***.net We purchased a 2019 Shadow Cruiser in January, the day after we got it as I was pulling in the slide out a rod broke and went through the side of the paneling. We immediately called Camping World. The Camping World who was sooo helpful with selling us the trailer wasn't able to help us. They would call us Monday. Well Monday came and went, no call. We ended up calling them again. Little did we know that they only return calls if you are interested in purchasing something from them. Anyway, we had to end up hiring a tow truck to get it to our camping world here in Bakersfield. We ended up finding so many issues with this trailer. Issues from pinched wiring on our braking system, to broken and rusted welds on the frame, rusted nuts and bolts, the ball hitch pin was broken, missing screws from the side skirting and the jay brackets underneath, the stabilizing jacks were rusted and corroded, the door to the trailer wouldn't shut properly, I could go on and on. After all of these issues we requested a new trailer from camping world, but they refused saying these things were repairable and would not affect the safety or use of the trailer. The repair guy at the Camping World in Bakersfield had to wait weeks to get approval for work on the faulty trailer. At the initial purchase Dave in finance, will talk you into this Good Sam warranty. Per Dave that guarantees speedy and thorough repairs. That was a complete joke and not true. After months of repairs, we picked it up last Friday and left on our first trip. We had another issue this morning bringing in the slide out, but we were finally successful. As we were headed home as we were entering the freeway the braking system locked up flipping the trailer on its side. We had our children in the truck with us that almost flipped over because of this faulty trailer. We completely understand that this is a manufactured item that is sold by camping world, but the condition that the trailer was sold in is a Camping World Problem. We have went back and forth over the last two months with Camping World in Fresno. They have been the absolute worst. About two weeks after the initial problem they stopped returning all calls. Even calling many times to talk with the general manager, Jay he has not ever returned our call. Geoff the sales man is a complete joke, call me anytime he said as we left with the trailer. Send your friends my way. Ummm, not going to happen. We have called him many times as well and of course no call back. We filed a complaint with corporate office, they said someone would contact us within a few days. Guess what, no call. So a week later we called them back, informing them nobody had contacted us. At that point a higher up person in camping world was supposed to call us. Guess what we still haven't heard from them, maybe they might call us back now?? We will see. I am sure we will not be getting a call back on this one either. Thank the lord nobody was hurt. #campingworld #shadowcruiser #campingtrailer #forestriver #campingworldfresno

Nightmare Experience- No Communication

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This saga has been with CW-Ft Myers since 2016. We purchased a Starcraft Autumn Ridge in Sep 2016. The main reason we chose CW was that they were all over the USA. We chose the Autumn Ridge because it is a Jayco product with a 2-yr warranty. Our first trip out in Oct 2016 6 hrs on the road and we had 1 tire start to lose its tread. Called CW in GA nobody would help us. Drove another 6 hr to TN tried several CWs there but because it was a new trailer under warranty they couldn't help us. Finally a CW in Bowling agreeing, KY helped us, we were now on the belt, they found the Axle was out of alignment. Bask to CW Ft Myers where is sat for almost 5 mos and had 16 warranty repairs including major water leaks, broken bed frame and hydraulics, a shower wall not attached. We finally pick it up on 31 Mar 2017 after being there since Nov. They replaced the axle, the fix for the shower wall was to drive a bunch of regular crews right through it! The bed fix lasted until we lifted the mattress and the hydraulic arm pulled the frame apart again. Back it went again for another long run at CW. We get it back and do a 3 hr Rd trip in state to make sure all is well. The water leak persisted. Now a tire on the other axle went bald. Back to CW again we were accused of over loading the trailer, but Lipper was replacing the second axle out of the goodness of their hearts. We are both math people who can read the stickers placed all over the trailer about load. The max we have had in this trailer is 700 lbs and the tanks are always empty. It was distributed evenly and per trailer instructions. There is a certified scale across the st from this CW, we don't unload the trailer for service and told service to take it and weigh it and they would see that it is not over weight. They refused. Now we do annual service in Mar 2018 before a long trip. I requested roof check and sealing, AC service, brake check and adjustment as they did not have a lot of miles on them. When we pick up I'm thinking about $900 for what I requested based on the prices listed it was $2,100! They repacked the brakes without telling us $550. They charged $100 to assess a battery that I told them was dead and to replace it. Now we go on a 4 month cross country trip, the bed breaks again, the water leak persists. I figure out the water leak and when it goes back in Aug 2018 for warranty repairs again numbering 16. We get no communication I try calling nobody picks up or returns voicemail. Somebody finally emails me in late Jan 2019 that they have been trying over and over to contact us. What is wrong with the telephone? It turns out they sent 1 email to a defunct email acct. nobody ever checks the trailer when they schedule your pick up so we have driven 1 hr each way only not to get the trailer. This has happened on all our pick ups from warranty repairs. Our last pick up scheduled in Late Jan 2019 resulted in something else they now say with the awning we never saw the trailer and they would fix it. We only find this out after driving the 1 hr down. On this pick up they also said our tongue jack was not covered because it was not the original. That is true, but it was purchased at CW in Jacksonville with its own ext warranty plus we have the good Sam ext Waranty on the entire unit. I am so frustrated and unhappy. We have thought of upsizing but I will NEVER deal with CW again.

I also want 2 lazy boy type chairs added in on along with washer dryer! Well the chairs weren’t added. Again unexceptionable! So I had pay for out of pocket! So then at signing t was told to be their at 3 pm. Well I was their at 2:30 n still didn’t get in until 3:45. I said I had to at another appointment at 4:00. then gentleman printed off the wrong terms agreement. So had to wait until then was do. I want two lazy boy chair n washer n dryer added in on the deal. Well when that paperwork got their guess what no chairs were add! Now two days later that it’s been scheduled to be delivered at Friday at 11am, so I called to check to see if they were on time they say can’t be delivered until 12 or later! Unexceptionable. That’s BS!!! I have planned ahead of time to take delivery at 11 am because of my other commitments! Now that’s going to make me late for the third time since starting this! This is totally unexceptionable!!! They might have a life but most of us do n have to plan ahead!!! Really thinking hard about not taking delivery n going so where else to buy camper!!!
