Camping World Camper Service Department Review from Denton, Texas

I must say Camping World has the worst customer service I have ever experienced!!!! Our new camper left the dealership with a short in the brake light (we realized this on our way home) that we cannot get fixed without "authorization from the manufacturer". So, we have to drive our camper that has an electrical issue three hours from home because the dealership in town cannot work on the "manufacturer warranty" the first year. Really!!! This should have been found and fixed in the inspection before they had us drive off!

Camping World in Kansas City, Kansas - Slow and Incompetent

Camping World - Slow and Incompetent
Purchased a used a travel trailer from Camping World in April of 2015. Bought in Albuqurque, NM, but that's another story. Bought an "extended warranty with the trailer. I was told " they'll send you further information on what's covered. Well, almost 5 months now, and absolutely nothing in the mail. There are about a dozen issues that needed service from day-1. The selling dealer Camping World in Albuquerque, NM committed that they'd go through a thorough inspection and bring it up to speed to fix anything they found. Boy, I bought that hook, line, and sinker. When I found several items (like the A/C that sounds like a locomotive rumbling down uneven tracks and intermittently works) they assured me that the extended warranty would take care of it. That extended warranty seems to cover very little. Not worth the money!! Having a special Hensley Hitch on the trailer, they wouldn't repair it, or provide a "step-up" hitch bar so that the trailer would tow anywhere close to level. Not having the 6" step-up hitch bar was enough while traveling in the mountains to cause the front steps to be torn loose when making a sharp curve on a steep incline. The trailer got stuck on the steps!! So I repaired the hitch, and the steps, and bought the 6" step-up bar from Hensley, myself. After repeatedly asking, CampingWorld would do absolutely - NOTHING!!! We live in our trailer full-time and travel. August's the first opportunity we've had to put it into a shop for the follow-up service. We put it into the service dept of Camping World in Grain Valley, Mo. Put it into the shop on 8/6/2015. Went over a very detailed list with Tony, their Service Writer. The following week, on Tuesday 8/11, Tony called asking for the Hensley hitch bar, they couldn't move the trailer to do the estimate. I brought them the bar and found my Hensley hitch disassembled laying on their gravel parking lot around the front of my trailer..I reassembled my hitch myself because they stated they didn't know how, but would try to get someone - WTF? Who took it apart? I called on the following Friday 8/14 to ask if an evaluation had been completed, and if an estimate was ready. Tony was not available , so the person I spoke with began telling me about the issues. They couldn't convey the hours needed to repair or what was covered under the extended warranty. My TV antenna was the wrong one and would need to be cut and refitted -the only problem with the original antenna to the trailer is that it wouldn't rotate. Raising/lowering works properly. It's the original Winguard antenna and the broken part's only a $ 6.00 plastic part!! It wasn't covered - I'll fix it myself. The dryer's tub doesn't rotate. This was a brand new washer/dryer CampingWorld had installed in Albuqurque, NM just before we bought the trailer. They conveyed that the dryer's tub was off it's rollers - the dryer doesn't ride on rollers, it rides on a shaft with a bearing that would be near impossible to come loose. The problem's likely the belt is either broken, or slipped off the drive motor. I've even provided the belts to repair it!! It wasn't covered - I'll fix it myself. The left rear 30" BAL scissor Jack is "thumping" when raised/lowered. I conveyed this is because of a temporary roll pin that had been put in place In the screw assembly, so it would go up/down. Was this way when we bought it. They've told me the Jack is stripped. They either haven't looked at it, or don't know what they're talking about. It wasn't covered -I'll fix it myself. The front VentAir ceiling fan does not always turn on. Intermittently it turns on at 3AM in the morning. Their fix is to replace the motor because the fan wouldn't come on when they looked at it. As I told them - The motor runs, so it has to be the circuitry driving the fan motor - so now I can look forward to having to take the trailer into another CampingWorld later to fix the same problem. Why don't they just replace the entire fan? My rear A/C unit is noisy, does not push out cold air, and is being replaced. With the VentAir Fan, I think that instead of another 3-4 weeks waiting, I'll call VentAir and fix it myself. The replacement A/C unit is covered and was received this week on Wednesday 8/26. However, They forgot to order the A/C adapter to mate this new A/C unit with my Holiday Rambler Trailer. They ordered it (ground shipping) from their supplier on Wednesday. It's not as though my trailer's some off-brand. It's from a major manufacturer of RV's!!! So here I sit 3-WEEKS!!!!!! The A/C unit could have been ordered sometime during the first week, but wasn't. The adapter should have been ordered with it, but wasn't. The A/C adapter should have been ordered OVERNIGHT when they realized they had ordered the wrong one, as they told me they had done on Wednesday when I spoke with Tony, but it wasn't. So, I've been 3-weeks without my trailer to live in and 10 of the 12 issues needing repair aren't covered under Camping World's "All-Inclusive" Extended Warranty. I called the Service Manager, Ken Kissler, and the General Manager during week 2. No one called me back-seems as though they both chose to ignore me!! From the day I first dropped this off, and in every interface, I made it very clear that I needed to pick this trailer up no later than Thursday 8/27. Today is Friday 8/28 and I demanded to speak with Ken Kissler their Service Manager, which I have. Politley, he tells me they're still waiting on the part that was shipped Wednesday. I asked why wasn't it shipped overnight, like Tony said it would be, when I spoke with Tony on Wednesday, and he doesn't know!!! Baffling!! So, all they can do now is wait until next week. So it's going to be another week, looks like 4-weeks now to get a simple fan repaired and an A/C unit replaced. Customer Service is something I know well, as I've taught seminars on Customer Satisfaction for major global corporations. I've been in Service Management positions, and led global corporations. I felt confident and thought I was buying a Travel Trailer from a solid, reputable national company. I surely could have paid less for my Travel a Trailer from some other dealer or an individual. What a dissapointment! With my experience from both the Albuqurque NM and Grain Valley MO stores, I'll never buy from Camping World again. And, I'll go out of my way to ensue I tell far more than just the average 10 others about my experience, I'll tell everyone I meet. Customer Satisfaction, after the sale, is someting they've demonstrated they seem to care little about.

We have almost the exact same story.

We dealt with Camping World Calera Alabama.

I wish this company was shut down

I've left comments on the Profit on his facebook page.

Camping World - 2010 Fourwinds Freedom Elite Rv Review from Lake Panasoffkee, Florida

8/2015 Camping world RV of Savannah Ga. Got bait and switched. Looked at 2010 freedom elite diesel rv on RV Trader.com looked at all pics and sent contact info. Asked specific questions about body panel and delam issues and told were none ! Flew down on one way ticket, got down there and was in total shock ! RV was piece of ***. Previous water damage, panel delam, most shocking was driver seat in pic perfect, got down there and upholstery was shredded, was hardly any *** cover left on seat ! I asked what happened from time I got pics to now ? There reply was "guess there was a pad on it " . I took several unbelievable photos of this abused RV. Got the generic email from Marcus lemonis saying he personally reads every email( total BS ) never heard back from him. Camping world is a corporate sleaze, scam company. RUN from these crooks ! Salesmanship reply to me was, oh well, hate the deal didn't go through ! Could have cared less that he wasted a weekend of my life, not to mention the money ! There of plenty of small caring dealers that would love your business, avoid these crooks at all cost. At the bottom of your review it asks do you want to be contacted by camping world ? NO I don't , if they cared they would have rectified this problem . They not only stole a weekend from me, they stole my hard earned money. CROOKS !

Camping World in Tucson, Arizona - Odered Day and Night Shades for my motor home and everything went dowhill from there.

I was told that the shades are custom made for each order and it would be up to 6 weeks for delivery. I was also told I would get a confirmation e-mail with all info regarding measurements, sizes, colors etc. I wanted make sure that they matched the other shades I had installed previously. 5 days later I received a shipment and was obviously surprised, since the shades can not be made that quickly. When I opened the box, I noticed that the measurements were not correct and the hardware was in plastic bags which were deteriorated. Upon further checking I found a manufacturers date from 2008 - 7years old? I also discovered that this package had been shipped from the Camping World warehouse in Kentucky where all returns go from customers. I then spent over 2 months just to get my payment returned to my credit card. After many calls which put me on hold for up to 30 minutes listening to their goofy electronic music and telling me my call was important, I was finally able to get an e-mail address from on women who was actually trying to help me, because I was not happy at all with Camping World. This is a short version of the whole experience. My customer account also had information with another customer's name and info. I finally got money returned and decided that if I ever need anything, I would only go to Camping World if they were the only place to obtain something that no one else sold - not going to happen - they only thing that they have that many RV Stores don't have is extremely poor service. I finally did get a 50.00 gift certificate from Camping World with an apology - and wouldn't you know - I went to the Camping World Store here in Tucson to use it, and the clerk was not exactly polite when she told me that the card did not match my account when I arrived at the check out. I tried to *** my lip and remain civil when she told me I would have to contact customer service to correct it. I asked that instead - SHE call customer service and verify that they had screwed my account up and assured me that every thing had been corrected including removing the other customer's name from my account. She did so reluctantly and was able to verify the info and complete my purchase with my Camping World Gift Certificate. And you think I will go back to them ever again after having been a customer for 25 years? NOT!

Sunday we went to camping world in Mesa, AZ to look for a toy hauler. We were greeted by Ryan who was great and took the time to show us around the lot. We then came across a used 2006 toy hauler. He told us they had it sold but the deal fell through. The people were going to try and get private financing the sales manger then told Ryan there was a very little chance these people would qualify. Never were we told the party had a deposit down on the trailer. We were under the impression the trailer was available. Fast forward almost 3 hours where we come to an agreement on price. We ask Ryan, so dose this mean the trailer is ours if we qualify? Ryan says yes! Not once were we told that this trailer might be sold to another party or that we were a back up deal or that the other party even had a deposit down. This VERY important information was NEVER relayed to us. We were under the impression that the trailer would be ours if we qualified. If we would have know this we would have never authorized Camping World to run our credit or give them a down payment. We would have simple requested to let us know if the deal goes through or not and we will talk then. Here we are Wednesday afternoon and we are just now finding out about the situation from Ryan. We spoke with Sales Manger Kent Wheeler to express our disappointment and how we feel we were taken advantage of in this situation and how badly this makes not only them but the company look by not being upfront with the all the details and misleading us about the current deal. We spoke with Ryan a few times regarding the situation. We asked for a copy of any and all paper work we signed and was told that they can not scan it to email it to us and that we would have to come down for the paperwork. When speaking with Ryan about the situation we went around in circle about what had happened. I also got Ryan to tell me that maybe in the mix of his excitement for the deal he did not explain to us clearly about the situation and took blame for that. He then proceeded to tell us that he was being talked to by his mangers about the situation and what he should have done differently. At the end of the day we still feel completely used and heartbroken over the experience with Camping World in Mesa, AZ and how they do business. We can only imagine how many other people have been taken advantage of at the company. Being up front and honest and having good work ethics will go along way!!! We will not be doing business with them as we are completely devastated over the situation. We have requested an apology from the Corporate Office and for them to recall the credit pull as we were given misleading information and would have NEVER authorized for them to pull credit if we would have know the full information that was withheld from us.

The spelling and grammar in this complaint are both atrocious. I can not imagine Camping World given this complaint any credence. The author sounds like an uneducated hick.

Maybe she is from another country. Can you type, and talk in two languages?

Yes she should have paid attention to the red line under the word, but some people are typing on they're cell phone.

Stop condemning when you don't have all the facts.

So, if a person has poor spelling or grammar there's no credence? You understood the complaint fully and I am sure Camping World did too. A lack of education (if true) should not mean a business gets to treat them unfairly.

Camping World in Salt Lake City, Utah - Didn't do what they promised

1.0
Details
I recently purchased a 2009 Winnebago View from Camping World in Salt Lake City. It was $70,000, and although used, for that amount of money I expected to get a completely functional unit. At the time I was promised all systems would be checked to be sure they functioned properly. On my first outing it became obvious something significant was wrong. The water system leaked every time it was used. Took it back and they went through it, supposedly. Found nothing and told me nothing was wrong with it. Took it out again. Same problem. Eventually they found the water heater was cracked. They offered to split the cost with me. I reminded them this was a delivery issue and I was promised all systems were checked and worked properly. Obviously that was a lie. Finally they agreed to absorb the cost, but only after I fought with them over it. The awning wouldn't work properly. Found a part was broken. Promised to replace it. They didn't. The check engine light was on. They refused to even check it. Said that was not something they did. I would need to go to a Mercedes dealer. That's probably going to cost me a few thousand. Now I wonder what else they didn't do. I'm afraid I've bought a lemon that I'll have to live with for a long time and bottom line is, Camping World doesn't care.

Camping World - Warranty Review from Union City, Indiana

Camping world in richmond indiana has the worst customer service that ive ever had to deal with. I bought a new 2015 prime time avenger from tomrapers before camping world bought them out . Called camping world of richmond indiana at least 30 times trying to get some warranty problems fixed and nothing, most of the time you get a machine with no call back . Started calling and went in the store in person 3 months before my warranty was up and got no where . They said they would take care of me and my warranty ran out so now they wont do anything. you cant use a warranty if they wont respond back. The manufacturers throw these new campers together with the cheapest materials they can find. I wouldnt recommend anyone to buy from camping world. Trying to get my $1800 extended warranty money back with no luck. When im ready to buy a new camper down the road it will not be from camping world !!!
