Camping World in Jacksonville, Florida - Incompetent and Unacceptable Service

I purchased a Class-B motor home from Camping World, Jacksonville, FL on or around 15 May 2015. We have used it only three times since the purchase. I realize it was “as is” when I purchased it. I have no complaints about the RV at all. After a trip we took in mid August, the generator stopped working. I was in no hurry to have it repaired because I wasn’t planning on using it for a while. I made an appointment to have it repaired on Tuesday, 13 October 2015, just prior to a weekend trip with it on the 17th. When I called on the status on the 14th, I was informed it was still waiting in line to be checked out. The same response was given on the 15th. When I called on the 16th, the day before I was leaving on my trip, the service manager, Jose, told me they were a week behind and the my vehicle wouldn’t be in the shop until the following week. I picked it up that afternoon because I needed it for the weekend. Jose told me I wouldn’t lose my place in the ***. Why wasn’t I informed when I made the appointment that they were a week behind so I could have saved time and concern for the week it was at Camping World? I returned my motor home to Camping World n the 20th and, true to his word, Jose took my keys and mine was next in line for service. However, the good service ended then. I waited several days to call for status. When I was finally able to receive some status, Jose told me that they changed the spark plug and CLEANED the air filter. They were able to start the generator, but it ran really rough. It probably needed the carburetor cleaned or replaced. The repair cost would be about $515.00. I gave verbal approval for the repairs. Several days of testing and many calls to check on status passed with no positive information or results. On the 28th of November the problem was still elusive. On the 29th of November, Jose told me they finally found the problem and repaired the generator. All that remained was for them to do was assemble everything and run a final test with it installed on the motor home. What fixed the problem was they REPLACED the air filter. Jose told me my motor home would be ready Friday afternoon, 30 October, or Saturday morning, 31 October, at the latest. I received no word from Jose on Friday so I assumed it would be ready Saturday morning. I called and left 2 messages on Jose’s voice mail between 10:00 and 11:30 AM. I told him that I was leaving on a week trip the following week and I needed the RV before then. He finally called me around 12:25 PM and told me the technician that was to work on it didn’t come to work and it would be done Monday even if he had to do it himself. On Monday, 2 November, at 9:04 AM Jose called me and told me my motor home was done and ready to pick up. He told me the cost would be in excess of $740.00. I don’t remember the exact cost. However, it was much more than the $515.00 quoted for the replacement or cleaning of the carburetor. They only replaced the spark plug and air filter, which could have been done initially instead of just CLEANING the air filter. When I arrived to pick up my RV, I asked Jose a few questions. The 1st one was, “Does the generator run on diesel or propane?” His response was that he didn’t know but the way the lines were run he guessed it was propane. He asked me if I tried running it with different fuel. I responded, “How could I if it was connected to the motor home?” I asked Jose why the cost was so high. He told me that I had to pay for the removal of the generator, all of the testing/labor that was performed, the replacement of the air filter, and the final assembly/testing of the generator. Jose also told me the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced for the generator to really work properly, for an additional charge. He told me the generator wouldn’t work unless the RV was hooked up to external power. I told him that if I was hooked up to external power, I didn’t need the generator. That is the reason I took my RV in for repair, the generator wouldn’t start and run. I asked Jose about the excessive cost for the repair. He said the generator had to be removed from the RV, a 3 hour job in itself, to change the spark plug and air filter. If true, how could they replace the spark plug and clean the air filter when they initially started the repairs? That is contrary to what he told me in October. He also told me they had to run more tests to determine why the generator was running rough. They finally had to reassemble everything. Jose told me that the technician that started the repairs no longer worked for Camping World and they had to call an independent contractor, KENT’S Mobile R. V. Generator Service, to finish the work. Jose took $40 off of my bill to appease me. He said normal rate was $125/hour and he was charging me $95/hour. At $30/hour times 6 hours (3 removal and 3 installation of generator) not counting all of the troubleshooting time equates to $180. Much more than the $40 break he was giving me. If they would have REPLACED the air filter and spark plug when they first started working on the motor home instead of CLEANING the air filter, my RV would have been finished 2 weeks earlier and would have cost approximately $500 less even if they had to replace the battery. Fortunately, I am a local and really wasn’t inconvenienced too much by the entire process. However, it was very frustrating. What would have happened if I would have been traveling from out of state and needed my RV repaired being on a tight time schedule. From the time I initially took my RV to Camping World, Jacksonville, FL service department on the 13th of October until I picked it up on the 2nd of November, was 21 days. That would have delayed my vacation, cost me approximately $500 more than necessary, require my wife and me to obtain a motel room, and rent a car. That is entirely UNACCEPTABLE!!!! Especially since I bought the Class-B motorhome to eliminate the need for rental car and motel rooms. In addition to the frustration, I was required to pay for the incompetence of the service department! The handling of entire maintenance process was UNETHICAL and boarders criminal. I am actively looking for another service center to have my motor home repaired, when needed. I am going to a local propane company to have my propane serviced rather than go to Camping World, Jacksonville. I strongly encourage everybody I know that owns a RV to use any other RV company’s service center for their RV repairs. It is my intention that this letter will instigate changes in Camping World, Jacksonville service department to make it more efficient, effective, competent, customer friendly, and honest so other customers receive world class service.

Good luck trying to change anything within the camping world organization. Promise you the world before the purchase.

Then soon after you sign the papers, you are dead to them. My advice, purchase elsewhere.

Camping World in Caldwell, Idaho - HIGH PRESSURE SALESMEN

i went to the Meridian, Idaho to look at motorhomes. Most were to expensive for me. I was taken to an older model, also way to expensive and asked how much would I pay for this one. I didn't like this old model and so I said "I wouldn't give half of what you're asking. Then suddenly I am approached by 3 salesmen who said this is a consignment and the owner says he'll take that offer, lets go sign the papers. I said whoa fellas I'm not ready for this. The sales manager said are you a liar? You said you would buy at this price. I said I would think about it, not buy it. No matter. Those three salesmen made me feel awkward and embarassed in front of my wife. I bought the Motorhome. I never drove it off the lot. I came back the next day, they would not reverse the purchase. I put the motorhome back on consignment and it was sold one year later at a $16,000 dollar loss. Those people were mean and arrogant. I never recommend that place to anyone I know.

Not camping world's fault, this all lays on your shoulders. Good thing they didn't tell you to jump off a cliff, who knows if you would have done it.

Sorry you are so easily led into things you don't want to be in, surprised you have made it to exist this long in life. DON'T BLAME OTHERS FOR YOUR OWN IRRESPONSIBILITY, BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS GOOD OR BAD AND STOP WRITING POOR REVIEWS THAT ARE UNWARRANTED TO ANYONE BUT YOURSELF.

Camping World in Jacksonville, Florida - Poor to no Communication Skills

They promised that they would replace the shocks on my motor home rather than have the local freightliner dealer pick it up after Camping World installed a new main awning. After having the RV for 6 weeks they changed their mind about the shocks and never told me even though I was in contact with them several times during the 6 weeks. They did the exact same thing about a side window that my detailer broke. Even though I told them that I would pay for the window if my detailer reneged they changed their mind about doing that repair also without ever telling me until it was too late. Now I have to waste my valuable snow bird time in Florida having to find others to do the repairs. Very poor service I would say.

Camping World in Fairfield, Ohio - 1.4 Billion is revenue

1.5
Details
I have been camping since I was an infant - I am now 45 and it is my horrific experience with Camping World that has ended one of my favorite past time.. I had hope to pass along this tradition to my 2 young children but I have to waive the white flag and finally surrender...Camping World, you win - I give up. I purchased a new 2015 Keystone Summerland 32 weeks ago and have only had it in my possession for 3 of those weeks - I have made 9 trips to the dealership. There are not enough characters in this box to tell everything that went wrong and the absolute follies of the staff at the Fairfield, OH location. I honestly believe if I listed the issues no one would believe it and it may undermine the credibility of this site. People, Process and Product is what the CEO touts...I don't know the man and he may very well believe he has all 3 or perhaps his vision and judgment is clouded by the 1.3 billion in sales. They must be doing something right to have that kind of revenue right - compare them to the substandard products and service from your local dollar store and it makes sense. The problem is - that everyone on this site has spent more than $1 and has higher expectations - not unreasonable expectations...just expectations.

Write or call Keystone and advice them of the issues and the problems with your dealer. They should recommend another repair facility that will accommodate you properly and hopefully log the complaint about the dealer.

Consistent complaints about the same dealer in large quantities may resolve camping world of being an authorized dealer. Unfortunately the best way to win against corporate greed and poor customer service is through monetary value.

Camping world in Fairfield has horrible customer service!! Took our camper in for estimate on a repair.

They had it for over a week and never called us.

We called and left messages to see what was going on. When we told the lady at desk that no one was calling us back she got nasty with us and said "there is only one guy working in that dept." I am sorry but not my problem..I will NEVER use them again nor refer them to anyone!!!

Camping World in Jacksonville, Florida - Shoddy Work / Disinterested Management

I took my 2015 Dodge Ram in to have my 5th wheel hitch re-installed. A $700 job turned out to be over $1000 and the installer failed to place the pins in the bottom of the hitch which caused it to come up off of the truck bed. I sent an email to Camping World and stated that I felt like I should be credited for their shoddy work. I received a call back from Rodney but every time I return his call he is unavailable. DO NOT TAKE YOUR RV TO THIS LOCATION unless you want sub-par service

Camping World - 2012 Forest River Xlr Thunderbolt Review from Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Hey, I am very sorry I did not see this before I bought from Wood Village Camping World! I have spent everything I have on a 2012(was suppose to be 2013) Forrest River XLR. I drove 3.5-4 hrs one way to see the camper, walked through it was told it had been serviced, found things wrong with it was told they would clean it and fix things and could pick it up Saturday. It was not ready, they said I could stay in it they would get me power, they didn't, I froze that night as generator didn't have gas, battery went dead, then I waited all day the next day, I ask to see the repair sheet, and was told "you don't trust me"... I don't now, I drove home and nothing had been fixed! The carpet was now soaking wet from rain pouring in, the slide didn't go out , too many things to list.,.I am now spending (12/23-till who knows when)Christmas Eve and Christmas by myself in the parking lot if Camping World.... I feel they have taken $50,000 by deceiving me....I think it is time to put a stop to this...they also put a hitch on which on way hauling the camper back came loose.

Camping World in Fort Myers, Florida - Customer service and repair

Since purchasing my coach in June 2015, it has been more in the shop than parked at my house ready for use. Main slide replaced. bedroom slide needed adjusting, water leak into coach, needed to be returned twice to find and repair cause, entee doors adjusted twice, bay door locks adjusted twice, only did one instead of all, radio replaced, antenna booster replaced, passenger seat adjustment repaired twice, fire alarms remounted, ice maker malfunction connection loose, sink window valence fell of, outside water valve replaced replaced and only connected with one retainer nut. Spare part deliveries between 4 - 6 weeks, wrong spares ordered or delivered whome ever you believe. Installtion times excessive 2-3 days. Coach not cleaned after installation, other items broken during installation. Every time I piked up the coach after repair we found something else or incomplete repairs. Slide out was opened against stops and stop jammed between caoch and slide frame, all fuses blown but not reported. would panesl were replaced wit cheap plywood and nails. Wire shavings and clippings were not cleaned up and screws ,nots and bolds were left on the floor. Coach was not cleaned after repairs. 80 Words is not enough to discribe all the things. My cutomer satisfaction rating for the Fort Myers service group is a 1 and that is generous.
