Kept camper for 4 months and totally ruined it

Updated by user Sep 17, 2012

The other facility we took our camper too refused to touch it as it was in such a mess.. After getting camping worlds VP and regional and district mgr involved our camper is now at camping worl in Chattanooga Tn.

Camping World in Calera has given me $2200.00 for my inconvience because of their inadequate repair shop..

The gm and rm of camping world are promising a great job when I go to Chattanooga to get it... We will see

Camping World at calera , Al had our 11 month old jayco 5th Wheel for 4 months. It now looks like a 10 yr old 5th wheel. Totally incompetent and liars. Called and said it was ready in july and when we get there it still has 2 broken taillights from hail and they had bent the ladder, Rubber roof was so wrinkled we would not have it. Caulking smeared everywhere and just plain old white caulking not even the correct kind. Run do not walk away from this store. We got it today and had to take it to another facility for repair and now it may be a total loss.

Camping world it rain in my camper

Bought a new toy hauler . Took it back to the dealer in Lowell Arkansas three days after purchase because the front diamond plate rock guard fell off exposing the insulation and wood studs. I went back 4 days later to check on it and they haven't started on it plus they let it rain for 2 days in my new camper. And they say it's all just fine and nothing will be hurt ...yea right!!! Now Tim the general manager will not see us or take any calls from me. I took it a bit further to the regional vise president and even Marcus the CEO of camping world and still haven't heard a thing.

After a $1086 repair, had to redo. And file a complaint about the grease all over my carpet. Service Mgr. promised $150 check for my time to clean, and $60 reimburse us for a water pump defect. It's been a week, no one will call us back, left several messages for Lopez the gen mgr. But he doesn't care either. Shop there again? No wSy...repair there? Not ever. Refer others to them in our travels? Nope. If you have issues with this Gresham company don't call them. They do not care after the sale! Thank you!

Camping World Albuquerque Finally OK

I have to admit. I have not been happy with camping world. We have a Jayco trailer under warranty and every time we took it in for warranty service something cost us money. The first year we didn't pay for storage because it was in the Camping World service lot and we "borrowed" it to use it. My husband knows how to replace a battery, yet we paid for one because they said he hooked it up wrong. He changed the one in the truck 3 days after he reinstalled the one in the RV after winterizing it. The truck is fine. Every car he has changed one in works, the one in the RV worked the first year after we winterized it. We are getting ready to go full time. First trip out this year and our outdoor shower is leaking. They wanted us to wait a month to bring it in. But then, it would be out of warrany and we would be living in it. So we convinced them to take it earlier. Then after waiting 2 weeks for a call (we were told we would be called every three days) I called. I was told it was going to cost us money. The shower had frozen. I explained that this is impossible, we winterized it and it was leaking PINK (the antifreeze is pink) and it didn't freeze this year. Finally I was told that it could be fixed under warranty but it would take 3 weeks for the part to come in. Funny, I already explained that we were leaving in 2 weeks to go full time. The service rep offered to cancel the part order. That's all the rep wanted to do, cancel the order. Finally I called and wrote to corporate headquarters and explained the situation. I was told that they would have the part in 3 days. Amazing after it was going to take 3 weeks. But no one ever called to say that they had the part. So a week later I called. They managed to get it in and fixed in one day. But we were also promised that it would be washed, it was not. When hubby picked it up the first time it was unlocked and the outdoor shower was hanging out of it. After they called to find out what time we would be there to pick it up, they wanted it to be ready for us. By finally calling and emailing corporate and then Jayco themselves we finally got help. But I had to work for it. Camping world, you hold my extended warranty. I hope we don't have anymore of these issues. I am neutral because the issue was resolved. Yet I had to keep doing all the work to resolve it.

That's a nicely made answer to a challegning question

We are currently having the same problems with CampingWorld of Albuquerque. We purchased our Jayco last spring and within a few months we had to take it for warranty work. Three and a half months later, they are not finished and the work they did do was shotty.

CAMPING WORLD AVONDALE, AZ

Was quoted $275.00 for an axel flip on a Colman popup trailer, the customer service rep. said they do this all the time its a very simple process, it wouldn't take more than a week to complete........... Three weeks later it came to $1,050.75 for an axel flip they said they had to cut off the original leaf spring supports. When I went to discount tire they said one leaf spring support was aligned improperly, (tire would rub on leaf support) so the tires I was going to purchase wouldn't fit, the new rims and tires would only fit on the side that was properly aligned. When I got it home to load the camper I noticed the fold out step had a nasty brown overspray on it, everything was locked on the trailer, when I dropped it off they said the have no need to enter the trailer, and if they did they have a master key. I called the manager Shane S. and told him about all the findings, he said he'd look into and call me back ASAP, it's been three days and still no call back, I've called and left three messages, he's conveniently on meetings now. So I'm looking for a place that can fix their screw ups. I don't want them putting a finger on my camper trailer again. They just lost a loyal customer. I guess they feel big enough to rip people off and do *** repairs and still have plenty of business. The lady that charged our card was very apologetic she knocked off $75.00 with coupons.

I was charged $518.30 to replace a toilet water valve, tighten items under the kitchen sink and test the water system (which I am now skeptical about). They refused to call the extended warranty company. Now I know why. I provided the info. After paying the bill, I called my extended warranty company and mentioned that Camping World said that they (the warranty company) wouldn't cover any of the cost. The warranty company's response was "How does Camping World know that ?" I now have to submit paper work to see if they will pay at least some of it.

They also corroborated the following email comments related to time it takes to make the toilet repairs from the independent I will now use :

QUOTEHi Christopher. I hear horror stories every day. I had a customer who Camping World in Greensboro told him he needed a 5 thousand dollar roof job. I found Absolutely nothing wrong with his roof when he called me for a second opinion. With regards to your hitch, I am insured to do "RV" work. I am not insured to do work on your vehicle. I recommend Raleigh Hitch on Capital Blvd. By the way, I looked in my catalog to be sure, if you have a Thetford toilet, the water module valve is $31.99 list price. Dealer price is like $25.00 I'm curious to know what they charged you for the valve. It takes about 10 minutes to pull the toilet, 10 minutes to change the valve, and probably 15 minutes to re-install the toilet.Camping World has gotten too big for their britches. Now that they're in bed with Good Sam, maybe folks will figure out how big a rip off they are. I'm a two man company and I can beat their club member prices for parts.UNQUOTE

They told me I had to buy the same thermostat for my camper and I had to get numbers off thermostat and unit and they would have to order it. After I researched it I went to Walmart and bought one and it work fine.

They said it would not work.

I think they need to get some service guys that knows something about campers or was they just trying to rip me off? They won't get any more bussiness from me.

The combination of Camping World and Good Sam's is not too good either. Like a bad marriage that is heading to divorce.

Not sure what has changed in the last month but they have a new guy in service that is amazing. He's not the service manager but another title that takes care of the advisors, customers and techs.

I call him when I need help and he always takes care of me.

I wish I remembered his name! I do know he came from the dealer across the highway and is new to Camping World.

Camping World in Burlington WA.ripped us off

In Sept 2012, We were assured by the service dept. the technicians could repair everything. Instead they kept our rig for 2 months and continued to make things worse. They never repaired their mistakes, but charged us for making matters worse. They did not put things back together, just left things undone. I would NRVER go back or recommend them for any chassis work, or assume they will complete the job in a professional, or even semi professional manner. Even their technicians will agree they are not trained enough. This is a company that preys on RV owners. BAD, BAD.

We purchased a ner Kingston Montana June of 15. Should have read the reviews.

Paid 1200 for post delivery and received nothing.. Lots of rust, 1/2 of air condition not working, lots of things broken and doors not fitting. Lots of dialogue with Burlington and no results.

We were just kicked to the curb after we signed sales. Avoid Camper world at all cost

Guest

I too have had problems with the Burlington Camping World. I have owned a 2012 5th wheel bought 13 months ago and have had it is the shop on two occasions with the first time only a couple of weeks but this time almost 4 months.

Also a surprise piece of info as found out the new rig we bought had previous body damage which was repaired and then sold to us as new.

Would I ever buy from any Camping World again ...... NO, NO & NOT ON MY LIFE.

Guest

Im not from Englewood Colorado. Im from Kerhonkson NY. Can't seem to change the location.

Guest

Camping World in Kingston NY had had our camper for 2 1/2 months now. Service needed on a 2012 Jayco: bedroom door would not latch closed, what can be done to keep battery carged?

Can we dissconnect radio? Wire for slideout kept showing when we extended and took it in. Globe in kitchen on ceiling for LED light kept falling off...this was suppose to be fixed when we initally picked up the camper. And last, the wheel well was pulling from the siding.

After the first month we called and they said everything was done and they were just waiting on a part for the light. A month and a half in, still waiting on the part. Last Friday, called coporate/complaint line and that same afternoon they called and said our camper was ready to be picked up. My husband called and said he would be in on Wednesday.

He went in, and first thing he checked was the wheel well...not finished. He didn't even bother checking inside he was so pissed. We are "suppose" to hear about picking it up today...3 months later. It's suppose to snow this weekend and we will leave it there until spring if they don't call us.

We will not pay storage. This company is the worst company we have ever delt with.

Parts were ordered three weeks and not as much as a phone call

We made an appointment with the camping world store in Okla. City for July 7th, to have our toilet repaired in ou 2004 Monaco motor home. The manager indicated that they had parts stocked and access to other suppliers for Thetford toilet parts. I informed her that we would be driving 170 miles to that location. When I arrived there the manager located Charles the parts man and we left the vehicle there to be evaluated. We returned there when Charles called and informed me that parts would have to be ordered. We came back to pick up the vehicle and. Charles said that it would be 5 to 7 days before the parts would be available and that he would call when the parts arrived. Still waiting for a phone call. This type of poor service is totally unacceptable. I intend to seek other outlets for these repairs and all future services that we may need.

Service is non-existent

IDIOTS! My husband drove an hour to the Camping World in Lakewood, NJ today. Not one person in the entire store or service area could help him to purchase a new awning for our camper. Earlier in the day I spoke to a girl who answered the phone for the ONline store and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Bothered by this I looked into complaints online and found plenty. Needless to say I will never set foot in their store again. I can get everything I need elsewhere. Glad I discovered this before I made a purchase. Camping World just lost a lifelong customer.

Camping World sold me a $50,000.00 totaled 5th wheel

Purchased 2007 5th wheel from Camping World of Lake City, Fl July 2012 .Walk-thru one of the 5 slides was not opened. Tech said he would momentarily. He then diverted us inside the camper. He then opened last remaining slide however we were inside. Before we went outside he closed the slide. Not suspect of any issues we signed the paper work. Next morning opened the slide not opened during walk-thru. Broken beams, cracked exterior. Called bank to stop payment (WOULD NOT). Returned camper 11:00 a.m. following a.m. Was told no problem they would repair. Now 4 1/2 months. No camper. Now am told I wrecked the camper. Told me to file insurance claim. My insurance claims all damages are prior to purchase and will not pay. Loan amt. $50,000.00 camper valued currently $1,800.00.

I also used to work for camping world in Lowell, AR they are a very crooked and lousy company. they will do anything and everything to steal a dollar.

I now work for another local RV dealer in my city and we get camping world customers each day that tell us stories just like this and say they will never be back. If I were you I would back that 5th wheel right through their front door one night!

Poor service Camping world

I called camping world about setting the hitch height on our new 5th wheel. The service manager said that they would do what ever it took to make it correct. I drove 45 miles to Fife, Washington Camping World. The first tech said we will have to lift the trailer to get it level, but he wanted his supervisor to look at it first. I waited for a 1/2 hour. The supervisor came out and said no problem. He took my keys and went to move the unit into the shop. Another 1/2 hour later the supervisor walked up to me, gave me my keys back and said yhere was nothing they could do for me and to tow it the way it was. He said "it's fine". There was a 3 1/2 inch difference ,front to rear, on the trailer. NOT GOOD ! So I drove 45 miles back towards home. I stopped at a hitch shop, RV hitches, Olympia, Wa. Awsome service !! So 90 miles and 4 hours wasted with Camping World.

I just recently purchased a fifth wheel toy hauler from Camping World and I am not satisfied with the experience. While trying to negotiate the financing, I was continuously forced to contact the dealership as I couldn’t seem to get information otherwise.

Once financing had been agreed on and we sat down to sign the papers, the numbers were incorrect as the Salesman failed to notify the finance department of certain changes to our deal to the tune of $2,000. As with any major purchase, a walk-through inspection was also conducted (which I was charged $1,100 for) to make sure everything worked and that we were familiar with all compartments. While a few discrepancies were identified and taken care of, the real problem was discovered when I got the trailer home and found all three waste tanks (1 black and 2 gray water tanks) where ¾ full with someone else’s waste. Ironically it occurred to me that checking the tanks had not been part of the inspection.

I immediately called to complain and received absolutely no compensation for this grotesque inconvenience which I had been charged for. Let’s just say I will not being doing business with the Sales Department of Camping World again and I will make sure this story gets out to everyone I can on how poorly Camping World processes and deals with sales and customers.

Budlight3, I am sorry for your experience with us last Friday. If you could give me a call, I would like to discuss what happened during your recent visit to our store.

Let Andrew write it up and let it set unlocked, unprotected for any one to pilfer all your belongings, they have master keys to lock any unit, others say he tried to call me but used a phone number stored in the computer, not the one I had just given him and was written on the work order but to lazy to look up the work order or change the number in the computer his service is to himself not his customer!! it would have set there all day and all night had I not passed and checked it and locked it up!! a brand new class A motor home with our belongings inside!! yes it upset me big time.

Paid two times for roof service on my R.V.

Updated by user Jun 01, 2012

Camping World did nothing but make excuses.Took unit to a shop in Franklin NC,the owner looked at roof and patch job, said he could not believe the bad workmanship. The patch was not sealed around the edges properly and the roof was full of pin holes.

Original review Apr 29, 2012
I took my rv to Camping World in Spartanburg SC for a complete roof service and outside detail.I left the camper so they could the work. They called in about 1 week and said the work was complete.I went back to get it (app.70 miles),when I got there,I went in to pay the bill, they told me where my unit was parked.I went to get it,the work I paid for was not finished.I talked to service manager,he said they would finish the work and bring the unit home. When they washed and waxed the unit, they took off some of the paint during buffing and used something during washing that took off paint in streaks. A couple months later I noticed a leak inside.Took it back they patched *** they didn't find the first time I was charged for this. Now less than a year later i am having to have the roof and rotted framing replaced, cost app.$5500.

Join another mad consumer. Spartaning Camping

World does bad workmanship and does nothing but tell you about warranties on thier workmanship.

My roof replace was bad from the start. It has been bubbling up form the start. They say it is normal. Today as I wash the roof and check for cracked sealent or anything wrong it look a mess with bubbling.

I have called the home office and get the same thing.

I will "never" buy anything from Camping World ever again or bring my rig in for service. Take it elswere.
