Camping World - Customer Care Review from New York, New York

4.2
Details
We purchased a used RV from camping world in Tampa late last spring It stayed parked in storage sox 8 months with just being started weekly. We got it out prior to going on a 3 month trip. Generator would not work. We took it in. $300 later they said it was fixed. We got to North Carolina and it was out of oil . We filled it up and went on to upstate New York. Out of oil again after 6 gallons of oil we called camping world in Syracuse and the fixed it and our awning strap pronto for very reasonable price. Then after about a week the generator froze up and couldn't be fixed because the company no longer exist and parts cannot be found. We had extended warranty but they said they only par for parts and wasn't their fault it couldn't be fixed. Our service rep Christine Parks went to bat for us and ended up getting them to pay 76% of the cost. We are stuck here waiting fo r the new generator but camping world is allowing us to stay in lot with full hook-ups and Christine has been wonderful. We have watched as she has spent countless hours on phone witn warranty people and finding and tracking our generator and the parts to install it. I'm not too happy with Tampa CW. I feel the list of the generator may be due to their negligence in not recognizing the generator had an oil leak to begin with. But Syracuse camping World is great. Everyone there has be extremely nice and I don't know what we would have done without Christine. She went above and beyond the call of duty (even after I was not so nice to her. Yelling at her for things that was not her fault). Love her!

THREE RV'S LATER DISGUSTED WITH CAMPING WORLD

Letter of Complaint and Demand for Correction August 29, 2016 Dear Camping World Operations Manager Brad Cremo, Roseville, Camping World Corporate Office Headquarters 650 Three Springs Road Bowling Green, KY 42104 cc: Marshall Law Firm I am writing this email in regards to my experience as a customer who I would consider loyal to your establishment, as a current very upset and unsatisfied owner of a coach from your establishment, and as a consumer who has spent thousands of dollars at your establishment only to be completely let down. My name is Michael Wilson, otherwise we are the Wilson family. We have purchased three (3) recreational vehicles from your establishment. The first a 33ft Sprinter which I paid cash for. In taking the coach out a few times I realized I had bought something too small. I spoke with Brian Cutts who was very helful in my family finding something to suit our needs. I then traded my Sprinter in for a 40ft Sandpiper Bunkhouse (which I believe is still in your service area), that I also paid cash for. I was very pleased with this purchase until my wife became pregnant and we thought a class A would be better for our travels especially since the damage from the slide in our Sandpiper was to take months for your service department to repair. I believe they have yet to be done. While dropping off my Sandpiper for the service for repair was never done even though you had it many days. While waiting for service, I went to look on your sales lot, this is when I saw my 2006 Monaco Cayman that I now posess. At that point I was persuaded by your salesman this was better for my family than my Sandpiper. The only problem was that there was a huge crack going vertically the entire length of the window. When I was with your salesman I was told "the prior owner of the coach was having the damaged window fixed through an insurance claim". That your sales/service were aware of the damage and it would be fixed. With that in mind and the knowledge that I had a long trip to Arizona coming up I trused it would be fixed by delivery. This NEVER happened. In fact I drove the coach off your lot with the window being in UNSAFE condition and noone cared. The TV's have never worked, the awning your service people fixed was never fixed. I was also promised new batteries as the ones on the coach had bubbled and were also unsafe. When I took the delivery of the Monaco, I drove off your lot with an unsafe coach. Through research of my consumer rights....This alone is illegal. I have spent MULTIPLE hours of my time having to be the one to initiate calls for your service to repair that window, the batteries and the right side mirror whose glass fell off on my drive home from delivery as they were only held on by double stick tape. Not to mention countless 2 hour drives to Roseville for these repairs. I also noted to service that while out on my first trip in the Monaco the "LOW AIR" light and alarm beeped the whole way up the incline I was on which was two hours long. I was then passed to Sacramento Truck which told me it was no big deal. Funny when you are scared for you and your family's safety the entire time the alarm is sounding up a hill in the desert. From the final repair of the window which took weeks.... I have noted air conditioning issues on my coach since your service department repaired the cracked windshield. However even though I spent my hard earned money on the warranty, it would do me no good because time frame issues did not allow me an appointment. With this in mind I just got back from taking my son to college in Arizona....in which I drove through the Mojve Desert WITH NO A/C, a two month old infant, a 3 year old, my wife, and two dogs. I called the local camping world to try to get help as beads of sweat dripped down our faces and was told there was NOTHING they could to. They would give me a number of a mobile mechanic but "they were not going to cover the charge". See the list below of things that went wrong on the trip through the desert: No A/C front or rear, generator breaker continously flipping, low air light beeped for two hours straight, windshield wiper flew off, awning rattled on the wind. Before I left for this trip I changed re-bubbled batteries that your service replaced supposedly but were either bad or were never changed. MY COMPLAINT: I believe you knowingly and willingly sold me a coach that had been in an accident and if not had been damaged bad enough that it would appear so. I have spent tons of money with you and I have a coach THAT IS BROKEN, HAS CAUSED MY FAMILY DISTRESS, AND COST ME TONS OF MONEY IN RENTAL CARS, HOTELS, AND EXPENSES that had my coach worked I would not have acquired in a time when my family should have been enjoying the college experience it was a disaster. I want something comparable to my NEW 2016 Sandpiper that I was happy with except your service could not repair it in time or at all for that matter for my use. The damage to my Sandpiper was WARRANTY WORK, I guess just not important for you to expedite while my life revolved around it, along with ALL monies I put as a deposit on this Monaco, as well as you pay off the $39K balance on the loan I was forced to get for this "great deal". I want to be reimbursed for my hotel stay I was forced to get because I had no air, my rental car because I had no coach, food that went bad and that I had to buy out to eat because I was out my coach, a emergency room hospital visit caused by the distress, new batteries I had to buy, gas, etc. My ties to your company should be made back to the day I brought my sandpiper and was weaseled into this horrible experience. My wife ended up in the ER with a panic attack as we droce through the desert with NO A/C and fans on our infant worred he may not survive. THIS IS BY FAR going to my legal team and if nothing is done I will be forced to take legal action. I will allow two weeks from today for your response. Otherwise I plan to report you to the BBB, The local News channel, and take serious legal action. I can provide copies of sales receipts for all purchases, video of my family in horror in the heat, proof of phone calls and emails sent trying to get response Thank you Michael Wilson & Family

Camping World in Roseville, California - Very Disapointed

Details
On July 14th, 2016, we purchased a new 2017 Coleman toy hauler, Model # CTS300TQWE, VIN# 4YDT30022HH931910 from Camping World in Roseville CA. (Dealer# 59981, Contract#273110, Stock#1311916) for $27983.00. Boy was this the biggest mistake we have ever made. First off, even though there are 3 places for a TV not one single TV was included in this price, totally unbelievable. 2nd, the door and at least two windows leak, a clip has already broken on one of the bathroom drawers, the ac filter cover is broken, the awning switch is wired backwards and the screws in the shower are rusting. AND THE ICING ON THE CAKE….when I went to bed last night, my pillow was wet, upon further investigation, the trailer is leaking into the cabinet on the left side, AND MY CLOTHES ARE WET. Needless to say I am fuming. I really thought Coleman’s were a good quality RV manufacturer. I have had no success with Camping world in getting these matters resolved.

Be careful when you buy extended warrant from campers world .we stopped in Idahi Falls Campers World to have our electric devices because the slides wouldn't go in ..the salesman said The extended warrant would only pay for what they though was fair hours and service . Although they fixed the problem I ended paying out of pocket because the service manager told me the extended warranty wouldn't cover the work what a fool I was .i called extended service and they said the service manager never called them always and I mean always ensure the service manager calls extended warranty before paying out of pocket such crooks !! Now I have to submit the receipt and try and get my money back .ih and let's not forget I had tire problems and the extended warranty wouldn't cover that either I have to buy additional tire insurance for 300.00 dollars . With such a supposedly good company they were not honest with us .

I made a purchase in the London Ohio store. I was sold an extended warranty that when I tried to use it they denied the claim because it was a used trailer and would not fix anything wrong on my camper. They told me manufacturer warranty only covered items for a year. I told them I bought extended warranty not manufacturer warranty the only thing they would do is give my money back for the warranty. Refused to cover anything on my camper and would not take the camper back. I would never buy another camper from Camping World or send any friends that way.

Do not shop at this place!! Found a brand new 2016 Jayco 325BQHS Fifthwheel that the camping world in Gulf Breeze had marked down, I contacted the dealer had everything set to purchase (loan, insurance, deposit) and a appointment for a Saturday pickup. Got to the dealership and made contact with the salesperson (Tiffany) that I had been dealing with and she led us to the RV it was sitting all closed up, she unlocked the door and when she went to pull the steps down they were stuck, I even tried and couldn't budge them so she went to get a service guy! Started walking around outside Rv and found all kinds of problems. After finally being able to get inside found white sticky marks on the floor, saw dust on the bunkhouse beds and frame rales, plus more dust and dirt in the upstairs bedroom, bathroom, the carpet very looked dirty. I asked the sales girl if this unit had been cleaned and she stated yes ? I then asked if this was a demo or new and she said all of their units were demo's ! I Started looking more and found rust in the stainless steel sink, then after looking in one of the cabinets found a large bubble in the floor and you could see daylight from the outside where the wall met! She Tiffany left to go get help! I then went up on the roof and it was completely dirty and had been very poorly recaulked! The Floor manager Anthony showed up and asked what the problem was and then he had the nerve to ask me if we were closing on this unit cause he had another one in an hour! I asked him to climb up on the roof and look which he did and said everything was normal and factory done, told him that was a lie! After that he left and then the general manager came out and asked about us buying the unit, after showing him the problems plus the mold behind the caulking on the rear of the trailer, I told him thanks but no thanks! His attitude was the same as his floor manager! I do not recommend this dealership to anyone !

Got a install price of approx. $50.00 to install a LED strip light on my motorhome. made an appointment on the 11th of August to have the work done. Once the motorhome was in the shop The salesperson approached me and stated that they had the wrong price due to the work to be done. Showed me a price of 129.00. I very reluctantly agreed to that price. While the work was being done I had to instruct the mechanic on how to install the light, and wire it. When the work was done, I was given a bill for $199.00 instead. When questioned the clerk said "oh I forgot to tell you that the second bill was in addition to the first bill". I was so mad that I paid the bill and left. Have emailed camping world twice and called them 4 times. No Return calls. This for a light that cost approx. $110.00 NJ Consumer Affairs is next.

We will start from the beginning, we were out on a Sunday, all of the dealers were closed except Camping World. We have heard form others to avoid them, but we had free time and thought we would at least look a few trailers to get an idea of what we wanted in our next R.V. The salesman takes us out on the lot, seemed hesitant to do so, never asked us about income or credit. Just started making a few comments about how we would probably need 30% down and he wanted to only show us low end units. We said we wanted 30ft plus and needed a few amenities. He continued to make negative comments about our ability to obtain financing. (again, never asked us any personal info) We would have left after a few minutes of his negativity, but we ran across the perfect 5th wheel for us. He said we would not be able to buy it and that everyone he had tried to sell that one to could not get credit. This was a used unit, just under 50k and just as nice and similar t a couple of 90k plus units we walked to and looked at ourselves when he didn't want to show them. He kept pushing us towards sub-30k small trailers. We convinced him to give us a buyers order with the units info. On the ride home we both agreed we rally would not go back there except we found a great 42ft 5th wheel toy hauler at a great steal once we looked up NADA value. Anyway, did an online app with our credit union, the next morning they approved us with no money down full financing. We went to a branch, picked up the draft and headed to Camping World. Salesman acted shocked, we did all the paperwork and scheduled the walk thru date. They wanted a delivery date set for immediately after the walk thru, said once sold it needed to leave their lot ASAP. I found this odd, but made arrangements anyway. Now the fun begins, go there on a Friday afternoon to do the walk thru. This is a brand new facility they just built. Previously they had been in a very small place on the other side of the highway and did not even sell trailers, only service and parts. This is a 42ft unit with 2 a.c.'s and of course 50mp service. The gentleman doing the walk thru told me they only have 30 amp service on the lot and would not be able to demo the a.c. units, but promised me they were checked out an worked just fine. He did a nice thorough coverage of all of the items outside of the rig. Inside, except for being hot and no a.c., my only disappointment was he told me how the electric bunk beds worked, but did not want to pull the travel locks to demonstrate them. Ther were 5 issues that needed to be addressed. The first was a broken drawer handle that the salesman said they would fix. When I did the walk thru, I looked at that drawer, it appeared the handle had been repaired so I did not say anything to the man doing the walk thru. During the walk thru we found one clip outside that holds a storage door open that needed to be replaced. The travel lock on the shower door was broken. The automatic vent in the living area was turned off and you need a step ladder to reach it. And the skylight above the shower was broken. Both inner and outer parts. He said he would write down those 4 things after we were done, he didn't have a pen or paper with him. Unit was delivered to our house Monday, the delivery guy (NOT a Camping World employee) was super nice and even show me some interesting things on the outside of my RV that were not covered in the walk thru. Only issue with the delivery was that the sewage tank had been left open and the cap was not on and when he was backing into our side yard at an angle, raw sewage came out. I can only imagine what is was like to be driving behind this when he was coming up the interstate, (Yuck!) After he left, I opened it up and checked out a few things. Yes, the auto vent had been turned on. Yes, the clip had been replaced for the storage door. No, the sky light had not been repaired. No, the shower travel lock had not been replaced. Wife got home, (she was not present for walk thru, walk thru hours were only available during her work hours) She went inside, went to open the drawers and found that the one that had been broken and I thought was fixed, they merely had turned the broken pieces towards each other and made it appear as one piece. I called the store about the items, they said they were on order and we would be contacted as soon as they were in, should be by end of the week. About 2 weeks later we happened to be driving near Camping World and dropped in to check on the parts. Service told us we had to check with parts dept. but they were not open at that time. We went to speak to our salesman, He was off that day so we asked to speak to a Sales Manager, they were all busy but one of them would call us. Less than 2 weeks later we stopped by again, went to parts dept. they said it was a service issue and that Service would have the part order info. But no one was available in Service at that time. We went up front to talk to our salesman, but he was no longer there. They told us he was only seasonal and would return in the fall. Once again we asked to speak with a Sales Manager, after over 30 minutes of waiting the receptionist asked if she could just have them call us. We said fine, left our information again and left. The following weekend we went there again (this is a 70 mile round trip for us each time) We did not even attempt to talk to Parts or Service, just asked for a Sales Mgr, this time we spoke to one. He was not very cordial, but did listen to us and said he would get to the bottom of it and contact us. That was over 2 months ago. We have heard nothing, we have called and left messages but no one calls us back. I almost forgot to add this...since they were not able to turn on a.c. units during walk thru and I took there word that they had been checked out, that was a mistake on our part. Once the unit was moved to a resort and plugged into 50amp, the center a.c. unit has a bad vibration and rattles items in the RV when running. So I guess they got the last laugh on that.

This is why you NEVER buy anything like this, even new, until everything has been tested to your satisfaction and repairs have been made to your satisfaction. If they can't demonstrate something like these people said, it is time to walk away.

Same goes for buying a used car.

Camping World in Byron, Georgia - Horrible, Just Horrible

We purchased a 2016 Jayco Flight SLX 154BH in April 2016, have had nothing but problems with it, the biggest being it leaks EVERWHERE. Main window, antenna, kitchen and bathroom, kitchen faucet leaks. Boards under bunk beds broke, boards under main bed broke and the battery never held a charge. Well let me backup first of all when we found out the camper was leaking never a good sign, we were going to trade it in on a bigger camper, and our salesperson had told us what our payment would be, the down payment like we had already been approved, they pulled the camper back for cleaning and everything, so we went to Walmart and bought 2 TVs an 2 swivel stands for mounting in the new unit, we were there for 6 hours and finally were told no one would approve us for the new loan, that's fine but why take 6 hours of your day, this should have been done in a couple of hours. So then we speak to the service department gave them a full list of items to be fixed on our unit and was told by the service department that they would mount one of the TVs in our unit for free, so that was all good, now back to the original story, the camper was in the shop for 5 weeks and we could never get anyone on the phone from the service department except one time, spoke with a lady one day and she was like all I can do is take down your number and have Jennifer call you back because she said she could not even find us in the system??? WHAT??? NO CALL BACK. So finally my husband actually got someone on the phone going on 5th week they said the camper was fixed but could not locate our TVs, then he got a call back beginning this week and was told TV's had been found, so we said good we will be there Saturday to pick it up, Guess What, got there Saturday, Battery was still not fixed and no sign of the TV's. They had mounted them in the unit we were going to trade in for and sold it to someone. We were there for 4 hours again. They did replace our TV's with some from their store. We should have been able to go in and pick the camper up and out within an hour. We have the worse experience every time we have to go to this business. Very disorganized.
