These bozos don't have a clue

I bought an Outback 323BH travel trailer from Camping World in March 2014. Later that summer the kitchen slide stopped working (the motor died, it's a BAL cable slide - don't EVER buy one) and the large slide was making all kinds of noise. I brought it back under warranty and they "repaired" both slides. The only problem was when I went to pick it up the kitchen slide didn't come in all the way. It stuck out about an inch and a half from the side of the camper. The technician tried to fix it while I was there but he ultimately said I would have to leave it. Duh, they had screwed it up pretty good. I didn't even check the large slide. When I came back they obviously had someone with intelligence check and adjust the kitchen slide because it was pretty good. The large slide however was still a mess. When it moved in or out the slide would bind and snap and pop as it traveled. They said, they all do that, it's normal. Normal my *** but I was so fed up with these clowns that I took my camper home and did some research. Low and behold I found that others had the same issue and they solved it with some Dry Lube. So, I bought a can of Dry Lube and sprayed the linkage. When it dried I moved the slide in and out and gee, NO NOISE at all!!! I guess they were wrong and it only cost me $17 for a can of Dry Lube. Bottom line - they have totally and completely lost me as a customer. I think Camping World is only there to make the sale and then they're gone. And, their technical staff doesn't have a clue about what they're doing and they don't give a *** about the customer. Make the sale and run. I will NEVER buy anything else from Camping World. Oh, and one other thing. When you buy a camper from them you are "required" to talk to their insurance department before they sign the deal where they try and pressure you into buying their sick *** RV insurance. That's one *** of a business practice. This place and their CEO "The Profit" Marcus Lemon"head" are a total joke!!!! If he's such a profit he should try and save his *** RV company.

Service department head Tracy Smith, does not follow up on work, call customers back, or schedule pickups. Repairs are not completed because when Tracy is told what the problem is, it doesn't get relayed to men doing the repairs. If you in the process of buying they are all over you, afterwards your invisible.....

Original review Feb 08, 2017
Our camper was purchased from camping world December 23 we had to bring it back for service December 27 we picked it up on February 8 and not all the repairs have been done in the meantime Tracy Smith service manager never once returned any of our six calls she said she would that day. My husband had to make visits to camping world to get an update on our camper. The answers he got were ridiculous it took six weeks to five small issues. When I finally called and said it was ready and we went down there to pick it up it still was not ready and not completed. Their customer service sucks and their service department sucks nobody knows what anybody is doing there is no quality control no follow up on the work being done to make sure it's done right. Don't bring your camper there to be serviced and less you want headaches and aggravation.

The rest of the staff apologized for the lack of good customer service an oversight on the work that was being done. No apology from Tracy.

I'm surprise she still working there. We have since brought our camper back to be repaired.

The water pump would not prime because the shower valve with elite evidently it was damaged during our cold winter park at camping world. They fixed it and returned it to us in less than a week which was great we were very happy to get our camper right back quickly.

Horrible Shipping

I place an order online for items I needed for camping 9 days previously to needing them. I spent over $100, which qualified me for free shipping. The order was placed on a Wednesday. Thursday, online it said the items were awaiting shipping. Friday it also said that. I called Friday evening and they told me the items didn't ship yet and they will probably ship on Monday. The phone attendant did not know why it did not ship yet. This is 2017 for sake. This is horrible service when all of the items are in stock. I will just go to Amazon I guess, and still get my order before Camping World will even get it out the door.

Your 'report' on Camping World's customer service was oh so familiar. They had our brand new Thor Vegas for over 6 months with a new promise date every week. They actually had physical possession of our new RV longer than we did by the time we got fed up and took it back. This was for warranty work! They also damaged it while holding it on their lot. The two hours worth of work they did do was shoddy, shabby work. I wrote letters to the area VP (Joel Cline) and the owner (Marcus Lemonis) and got no response. Camping World cares ONLY about the sale of the RV and nothing else after that.

Well.......here we are 2 months later and still trying to get our warranty work completed. We can't take the RV to any other service place because Camping World has applied to Thor for the warranty work and gotten approval from them so when we tried to go to another shop Thor wouldn't cover the cost a second time. This is outrageous when is Thor going to step up and 'Deal' with their Dealerships????

Write all the letters you want but it will NOT matter to any of them at all. To camping world any problems are always the customers fault.

Even when they are in the wrong they will not do the right thing. PURE EVIL, LIES & DECEPTION.

Camping World - Rv Repair Review

Totally, utterly, disgusting. I have NEVER been so appalled at a U.S buisness in my life. Please do not give camping world a single penny. They are theives, yes literally. We have over 3500.00 invested in the kingston ny store for a truck camper that we drove over 7 hours for. Spoke to a 22 yr veteran saleman for two weeks prior to arrival and required specific needs for a one ton diesel long bed dually pulling cargo behind it. We are first time buyers and trusted this buisness with our lives. They quickly installed a tie down system to our truck when we arrived, and placed a 6 ft bed camper on our truck. Then angry that we didnt accept the 3 foot gap between our cab and camper. Charged us 1000.00 for the tie down system that they had drilled 20 holes in the truck bed and bumper for. Later to find that the system was not made for large trucks and campers. So its useless. Had the odasity to demand we overnight mail to them the coupon book given to us. I firmly believe that the lord was watching over us because if we had left that facility with a 3500+ pound camper tied down with "BREAD TIES" we may not have even made it back home. They do not care. At. All. So sad. And not a single refund to date. Total nightmare. Did i mention we still have a loan for a camper that is still on their lot??!!! #camperlesspissedconsumer#

I called the service adviser and asked how long would it take to get a recall on the switch gear ( for the generator) fixed and a new awning installed. He said we are not busy probably two to three weeks. I dropped the fifth wheel off on 10/12, the whole time it was at the shop I did not receive any progress calls. I had to initiate all the communication, I call after ninth day it was at the shop, I called and was told the awning was ordered and the adviser had to check with another department about ordering the switch, meaning the switch was not order yet. I called back after another 11/4 I was told the switch should be in Friday next week, he said they had a conformation number on the awning but it was never shipped and it should be in Friday too. I called back on 11/14 I was told the switch was installed but the awning had holes in it and they expedited another awning and it is on it's way. I get a call on 11/28 my fifth wheel is ready. When I get there I paid the bill and they pulled my fifth wheel around so I could pick it up, first thing I notice was the the break away switch was pulled out meaning the fifth wheel's brakes should be engaged, unless the battery is totally dead which it was, the knocked a quarter size plug out of the gel-coat ( where the fork lift would hit) The Service Manager was inspecting it he said he had to look at the pictures that was taken when it arrived, I said they didn't take pictures while I was there. I guess they took picture at sometime, he said it wasn't in the picture and they would fix it, which is nice but it will never be the same. The problem I have is the 274.00 battery was completely dead they should take care of the customer's equipment, which I have to take the camper to a different store to have the gel-coat fixed and let them check the battery too. In short I don't think it takes almost 2 month to complete this little bit of work, I think the people just don't care it seems to be the issues, no pride at all. I will never take my fifth wheel to any Camper Worlds again the price you are charged you could get a mobile repair man do it.

Long story made short. We had a good sam warranty. Hardly anything was fixed properly and we were charged outragously....Toilet had to be repaired twice, jack Went out after 6 months and other things that we were charged for and not fixed paid over $1000 for poor work!!! Would never go there for service again. They charged a fee for everything they checked out then said it couldnt be fixed under the warranty. Even though they knew ahead of time it couldnt be fixed under warranty. We will never ever go to camping world again for any kind of service on our Motorhome .

You should hear all the BADS I have to say about Good Sam Extended Warranty. My most recent is an A/C failure and a black tank crack - - they are now calling it in to the extended warranty people after 5 days - they are saying tank failed due to build build up and the A/C failed doe to corrosion from moisture - - - sounds to me they are going to try to weasle they way out of covering my problems - - I will update!!!

Online orders ? !

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
On 2/20/17 CW charged my debit account the FULL amount and has yet to deliver or give an ETA. This is a bad practice. I should not be charged until my product has shipped. You folks are essentially using my money interest free, like banks try to do, while I am being deprived of any interest on my money . This is not the industry standard and should be looked at and changed to comply. CSR stated that it should be back in stock by 3/1/17 and then of course it will have to be shipped out . If I had ordered this from your competitor it would have been here today and at a cheaper price and far better consumer awareness . Still NO word on my Order at all ? . I am not a happy camper folks. Give me an ETA or I will CANCEL this (order # 102****) !!!! . You folks are not even remotely competitive and Customer service s off the charts to the negative side, Awful and Unacceptable once again ! Think you should know about what your company is doing . We bought a pull behind a year along with the extended service plan Promising front of the line service any time we had a problem at ANY camping World. Within 2 months a slide pulls system went out. It took another Camping world 10 days to even see us on hen complained about fixing another locations problem. It took 6 weeks to get the part and have it fixed. More problems and we were told our trailer had been wrecked at sometime. (They never disclosed this information even when asked directly befor putchase) now more slide problems and they refused to even look at it for 6 weeks at several locations we called including where we purchased the trailer. We have to have all our "covered" service done elsewhere. DO NOT BUY FROM CAMPERS WORLD!!! They are dishonest and will not return phone calls or deliver on ANY of their promises.

So called finance manager a joke!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We were looking to buy a new 5th wheel trailer. After we spent several hours looking we decided on one. The salesman took our credit application and after a little while came back and said everything looks great! He said that because of our credit we would not have to put anything down, which we figured we would use the money for parts. Once we were called into the finance office we were met by a man wearing a green shirt with red pants who said he was a finance manager. That should have been a clue! He said that they would submit our paperwork and call us later. We live two and a half hours away. Later that afternoon he called us and said "you're approved, we just need $3000.00 down. I said that the salesman said we wouldn't have to put money down and he said "he never told you that!" I decided since he called me a liar, I would not buy the trailer. You should have heard him cuss at me about wasting his time and then hung up on me! Never will do business with them again!

Disappointing customer service

After the sale, Kristen Wiley, sent our tag paperwork to the wrong county out of state. The tag office that received the paperwork returned the documents to Kristen. It has now been 7 weeks and we still do not have a tag on our unit. Not only will Kristen not return our calls, no one can tell us where the paperwork is now. We have offered to drive the hour and a half each way to pick up the paperwork ourselves, but cannot get verification where the paperwork is. For eight straight days we have made multiple calls to Camping World and can get no one to help us. Not only will Kristen not return our call but Steve Moore our salesman and Tom the sales manager have not returned our calls as well. Their service after the sale is Horrible.

Very Inefficient Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought a small travel trailer at Camping World in Anthony, TX and it was supposed to be ready to go at 1 pm in the afternoon. It was not ready until 5 pm and we had to be very proactive to get them going on it. It was a used trailer and when the "walk-through" was being done (after a supposedly thorough check by a "tech" for which they charged $399), the black water vent was opened and all this really nasty black water poured out. So then we got a tech over there and he had not done anything prior to the walk-through! We went over everything with him and all seemed well. Ended up pulling it home in the dark, which we had wanted to avoid. Then, when we took the trailer on a real camping trip a month or so later, the hot water heater was not working properly. It seemed to be working during walk-through, but we had no way of knowing it would not heat up to the temperature it was supposed to. To summarize, this company does not provide good customer service and they charge a lot of high fees. There is a huge lack of communication among different sections of the business. Be very careful if you are buying something from them. Double check everything and make sure they don't rush you through the "walk-through". Make them heat up the hot water heater to be sure it actually gets hot. (if applicable) I would not buy there again and I can't recommend them.
