Camping World in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Screwed out of money

1.0
Details
Have to replace roof and wall because the told our insurance company it was poor maintence. Roof was resealed every 6 months had not water damage until they replace a $700 seal they said I needed and lost about an equal amount of money in camping equipment in highway 17 which by the way they did not stop to try and pick it up. I was told it was not their responsibility. We did not use it until 5 months later. The slide would not go in. I contacted them in June when we used it the 2nd time and told them we would be there for 3 weeks. Didn't come get it until August. He said if it was something they did they would fix it. I told him that somehow I knew they wouldn't own up to it. Here I am with a 10 year old camper that's been maintained. Not by them that's why they said it was poor maintence. We did have a camper service with in the campground where we stored that sealed it every fall and spring since we had. Yes a lot can happen in a year but but we hadn't moved or used it since they brought it back for 5 months. You tell me how that much damage got done from October- March. We were told 2 different stories from 2 different people. I would buy, sell, trade or have any maintence work done by them unless you want to get taken advantage of because you depended on them. What's even worse the camper was bought from them.

Camping World - Loan Loading

The 2003 Minnie Winnie was advertised on the Internet for $29,995, can we just say 30 grand? Anyway, my wife and I went to look it over and liked what we saw, but I don't buy the first one I see so I did some more research. While I was there I asked him how much my payment would be if put $10,000 down and financed $20,000. He said about $200 a month if I wanted to go 10 years. Didn't even ask about interest rate, when you have a credit score over 800 you can take your time finding the best place to refi if you get a raw deal. That sounded reasonable even without crunching the numbers. The next day I called the salesman and offered $28,000 providing everything works. No guarantee how long, no warranty, but at least nothing major to fix, just small stuff. After consulting the "powers that be" he called me back and accepted my offer and emailed me a copy of the sales agreement. I was supposed to come back in 3 days to close the deal but a guy called and said they had an "issue with the slide" and asked if I wanted it fixed. Of course I wanted it fixed, everything was supposed to be in good working order or no sale, remember? So I waited about two weeks, had to order parts from Winnebago. Meanwhile the salesman called and asked if anyone told me this was a consignment sale. I said no but what did I care? Then he said they were selling it for an old lady who had a lot of medical bills and asked if I'd consider coming up $1,700 on the price. That one had me scratching my head, first time I ever had a salesman try to Jew me up. When I finally went to sign the papers the salesman/finance officer said the bank, Huntington Bank in Columbus, Ohio, would only go 7 years on the loan and my payment would be about $300 a month. They had forgotten about the $1,700. I agreed, always the refi. Then came the pitch for the add on insurance, gap insurance, roadside assistance and travelers assistance, whatever that is. I could not have been more adamant about not wanting any junk insurance. No but *** no! So I took my little Minnie Winnie home. In a couple of weeks I got a payment book from Huntington Bank, $311.72 a month for 84 months. When I found out they charged me 6.49% interest I went to my local bank to refi at 3.4%. When my bank called for the payoff balance they said it was $20,999. Turns out $2,999 worth of junk insurance was built into the loan. I guess they figured since I didn't say anything about the payment I wouldn't notice they had stolen $2,999 from me. So, in round figures, I ended up paying $31,000 for a $28,000 motor home. Worst thing is I can't refi without buying the damned junk insurance. I called the finance department @ Camping World Oklahoma City and raised oh Billy *** about it. I went in to sign a paper to remove the unwanted insurance from the loan. The *** finance manager sarcastically said " this won't lower your payment" to which I replied " it will when I refinance it". The $2,999 is supposed to be taken off of the principal amount in about 4 weeks. Watch this space, might have to take the crooked bastards to court.

I resent your reference to the salesman trying to "Jew me up" .

Now I don't care what happened to you.

Were I as vindictive as yourself, I should hope that the entire episode has caused you annoyance and cost lots of money.

You aren't very bright as you clearly failed to read the documents you signed for Huntington Bank.

Camping World - Worst experience in my life. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Will never purchase another item from Camping World again in my life. They have lied to me and are not true to their word. Their employees tore my canvas as they were pulling it out the showroom floor. Was told that this was fixed as good as new when in fact it leaked the first time it rained. Now we are living in a leaking camper due to hurricane Irma. Lorne Edwards and Tyler Hewett should not be in charge of anything. If you do not want horrible experience, there are many other camper businesses to choose from than Camping World.

Have you gone back asking them to take care of the leak? Complaining here won't get the leak fixed.

Of course I went back to Camping World and they told me it’s not their problem. I am writing this in hopes to save someone from making a huge mistake buying anything from Camping World.

Camping World in Panama City, Florida - Purchased motor home in July 2017 it is now October 2017, no repairs made, unable to use .

Details
On July 22, 2017, we purchased a 2008 Winnebago Tour from Camping World in Panama City, FL. We were told there was nothing wrong with the unit and it was ready to go. After waiting three days, we went back for delivery. A young man was to give us a walk thru of how to operate the RV. After two hours of pointing out its features he was unable to tell us how certain features worked. He explained he was not familiar with Winnebago. I specifically asked about certain items that did not work or he did not show us and he would only reply he wasn't sure. By now we were way passed their closing time and decided to go home with the unit as it was getting late. We were assured if there were any issues Camping World would take care of the issues. On the way home with the coach in operation i noticed several things didn't work. The right side camera didn't work at all and the left side was blurred. The house AC was not cooling properly (had asked about this problem repeatedly and was told because it was a bog unit it would take a few hours to cool down). The dash air did not work at all, while at the dealer asked about the operation of it and was blown off by the "delivery" guy saying he didn't know how to operate it. I also discovered that the hydraulic leveling system was not functioning properly and one of the awnings was not working. I had asked the delivery guy about the leveling system to which he replied we didnt need to use it because most camping spots were level. After driving the unit home on Thursday I called Friday morning and talked to the manager, I told him there were things wrong with the unit. He said he knew about some things but these problems were not conveyed to me. Therefore i took the unit back to the dealership that very morning Friday. The manager asked me to let them wait until the extended warranty kicked in, and they would repair everything, I told him NO, I wanted the unit fixed. He promised me face to face it would be taken care of. He said he would contact the previous owner and ask them to pay for the repairs. After waiting two more weeks and not hearing anything I called back, and the manager said he was going to get it fixed. I called back a few days later and he said it was ready to picked up that the house air and dash air were repaired and they would repair the other issues later. I picked up the unit only to discover it was not repaired so I took it back and it still there no repairs have been made as of Oct. 1st 2017.

Camping World - Drive the other way

Camping World is big on promises but failures to deliver. During the buying process, I was promised that my camper would receive a ladder to access the roof, it just had to be ordered. Later, I received a call that Keystone had sent the wrong ladder to be installed and Camping World requested the correct later. Several weeks later, I received a call (after multiple attempts to reach out) that Keystone said that the camper I purchased was not able to have a ladder installed. Camping World instead provided me with a bike, not what I wanted but okay. Then about 1.5 months later I damaged my camper and had to have an awning arm repaired. This is when I discovered just how unethical Camping World St. Augustine is. After multiple attempts (calling and emailing) I reached the service advisor in charge of my camper. I was told that Keystone was in the middle of midyear inventory (approximately 2 weeks of my camper being in the shop) and they could not find out what type of awning arm was on my camper. After discovering what type of awning arm was on my camper (4 weeks later), I requested that the damage awning arm be replaced only (if possible I did not want the undamaged arm replaced). Nick said that it was highly recommended that both arms be replaced and that I had to purchase arms from Keystone (unable to purchase separately). I was okay with arrangement at the time. When I finally got my camper back from Camping World St. Augustine and getting it home (I was unable to inspect the repair due to my camper battery being dead and they did not offer to review the repair with me) I realized that they falsified their service report. Both awning arms were not changed, in fact they only changed the damaged arm. I have attempted to correct this matter with Camping World Corporate, the Service Manager, and the Dealer Manager. The Service Manager, Cody, is rude and unprofessional. When communicating he the tone and candor of his emails was insulting. When I went to Camping World to speak with the Dealer Manager he was unprofessional and did not introduce himself. I had requested that I be reimbursed for the other awning arm as they falsified their documentation stating that both had been changed. I would highly recommend that anyone looking to buy a camper or motor home drive far away from Camping World.

Camping World - Worst service department that I have ever visited, Byron Georgia

We bought a new Jayco in Februrary, left it with Camping World Byron, Ga. for repairs on the unit. Took our jayco camping in April, noticed water coming in around the bottom of the slide so took it back to Camping world for repair and to repair a door that was uneven. After a month they finally fixed the door and said they could find no leaks. Took the unit to Florida in June, while there had leaks coming around the rail on the awning. While trying to clean the top of the slide noticed water would settle in the middle of the top of the slide. Took the unit to CW June 29th, They put us off time and again even after talking to several managers including the Service manager (Jim Lingo). Finally after many phone calls they repaired the slide and told us to come pick it up yesterday (Sept. 29th) after three months of CW having he unit this time. Noticed we had a low tire so pulled the unit around and found a screw in it. CW wanted to patch it but I insisted that they put a new tire on it. While removing the tire discovered a stripped lug bolt. So they had to fix the Lug bolt and steal a tire and rim from another unit. While waiting I discovered several screws laying around in the service area. We have owned the unit for less than nine months with CW keeping it for repair for five of those months. Hope to never go back to CW again especially with what the CW CEO said concerning Trump supporters not welcome there. Camping world is a pitiful company with a pitiful CEO.

Camping World - Bent arm for awning replacement

I took my 2016 itasca to camping world in panama city in may 2017 to have awning repaired after a wind storm bent the arm. I picked up the coach and did not put the awning out right away due to the weather. I called camping world and told them the awning was hitting the slideout . I took coach back to camping world on july 5,2017 and was told the wrong arm was installed. They said it would take a week to get the right part. sept. 22 camping world said it was finished with the repair and I could pick the coach up. I checked the coach and found two large scratches under the arm that was replaced. We are moving out of the area in two weeks and need this to be finished as to prepare for the move and all I get from the service manager is excuses as to why it is not done.

I scheduled my warranty work back in July for September 18th. They've had it since then and as of yesterday, nothing has been done. I'm picking it up tomorrow which will take it out of the Que but I have a trip planned...which they were well aware of but apparently don't care. They just give me the usual about how busy they are. I had an appointment!! What does that even mean with these people! Will NEVER purchase anything from Camping World again after this service work is done. Contacting Thor to get the warranty work switched to another service company. Not sure it can be done but I'm one pissed customer.

Camping World in Bakersfield, California - They weren't responsible???!!!

Had my 2016 Thor Tuscany at our local CW for the last of the warranty repairs. While they had it, it was stolen from their "secure" lot. Why you ask? Because they left the door unlocked with the keys in it! It was recovered a few hours later, but not before the thieves stripped all of the electronics out of it. Two big screen TV's, surround sound, Blu-Ray player, satellite box, GPS, dashboard radio/backup camera monitor, plus numerous personal items. Long story short I went back and forth with their third-party company that deals in losses. After five months of fighting, I accepted a check that covered the losses, the towing bill ($825), and my personal items. I had to sign a release stating that I could not hold Camping World responsible for anything! Not quite the end of the story. They told me that all of the warranty items on my list had been repaired. This week, I have it a an independent repair shop taking care of the two items that were never touched. First was the bedroom slide that was coming out cockeyed and retracting cockeyed. It finally quite coming out at all. Second was the large awning. It would start to roll out, then it would stop even though the motor was still running. Nice repair job Camping World. They just don't care.
