They sell bad products

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Camping World sold me a reject camper.I told them when I bought it that I am a widow I could not tow if it needed repairs and they agreed to pick it up repaired if I needed .anything .well when I got the camper they delivered it ,I couldn't open it till the following year because it was late in the season till I bought it and then when I opened it there was so much wrong with it they would not pick it up and repair it.Camping World sells rejects don't buy from them. Toilet don't flush, awning bent, my granddaughter got cut on nails sticking up,table seats fell apart,my outside sink was broken! It is a bad product. Forest river cared even less when I called them.

I have a 2012 Wildwood 25S. We love it and if they still had the same model I would buy new again .

They have since cheapened them up to the point that i feel not only Wildwood but a lot of others are useless. They have gone from built in generators to no generators . Two propane tanks to one.No front window. Two batteries to one , on and on.

We have had motor homes , campers , trailers , etc.

Trailer has always worked best for us but I can also tell you that living in the southwest a travel trailer without a generator is useless. And a front window is a must as well otherwise you might as well live in a jail cell.

I wouldn't even give [ANY!] CAMPING WORLD one star.

1 day after buying my RV here - I am told I need 2 new ACs, so I spent the nite @ a hotel because I travelled 160+ miles to this CW to purchase my (used) RV with only 33,000 miles.

Unbelievable - not only did my RV break down (160+ miles from CW where I purchased my RV) - JUST 3 hrs after buying my RV @ the Tallahasse CW location (and spending over $6,000 in repairs, replacing inoperative ACs, paying for a full/detailed inspection, on the day of purchasing my RV here - it "failed" an inspection and required repairs just a few months after buying it, and broke down 2x in a few months.

On one occassion trying to leave after a camping trip - being "stuck" (again!), as the jacks wouldn't retract - with this happening JUST 1 month after buying the RV causing more repairs & replacements!

Less than 30 minutes of leaving CW, having JUST bought it here.... I complained to the Svc Dept of my problem/my concern not being able to put a DROP (literally) of fuel in my RV -

being told, "I am not pumping gas properly!" REALLY? A RV gas tank IS a regular frickin gas tank! Like an ***, I even went to 3 different gas stations trying to put fuel in my newly-purchased RV (again, not even after being off CW's sales lot 10 minutes - unable to put ANY fuel in it!).

The gas pumps kept "kicking off" like I was "tapping off" the gas tank, so I assumed the fuel gauge was faulty and the fuel tank was full. NOT! Well, the fuel pump AND the fuel gauge didn't work!

Well, I "broke down" (less than 3 hours leaving CW!) because of course - my fuel tank was empty!

Leaving me stranded @ midnightght in 30, with my 2 dogs & over 160 miles from CW - where I JUST bought my RV! So, the fuel pump had to be replaced, costing nearly $1,800 - just LESS than 48-hrs after buying my RV here! And, I PAID for an (apparent) "FULL" inspection @ CW, on day of purchase! Well - the wrong roof sealant type was applied by CW.

A month after buying my RV here - the stairs didn't work so I had to spend $1,200 on its replacement. Then, 6 months later - the RV breaks down 2x - BOTH TIMES within 48-hrs after a drive from FL to CA, only to find out ALL the spark plugs basically exploded and looked like sparklers because previous owner applied electrical tape to damaged wires! Then, the RV breaks down AGAIN in 110 heat - stuck in the middle of nowhere, in the desert! The next day, RV breaks down AGAIN (on a busy freeway!) as the CAM sensor failed.

Again - after my RV "passed" CW's complete, expensive "inspections"! Also, another RV dealer, 6 months after purchasing my RV @ this CW, found my LP tank "failed" inspection and that the LP gauge was faulty. Again - this too was inspected by CW but "passed"! I only found out about this serious problem because I had serious doubts of CW, so I had the LP tank get a 2nd inspection by a different RV dealer!

But...what a dumb *** I am to fall for this ***, AND - what vehicle dealer would keep ANY TYPE of vehicle on its lot on an empty gas tank when they know it's gonna be test driven? (again....cause I am a *** I don't doubt them, and worse...TRUST them!). NOTE TO SELF = RED ALERT on ANY sense of shadiness - eventhouth the sales rep is being your "best friend", as they see NOTHING BUT $ signs - being SHADY, a thief AND greedy! BUT again, what does one expect - falling for the cliche "car" salesmen ***!

Oh - BTW....speaking of 'trustworthiness" - sales guy (TIM), I hear regurgitating: "I am a retired cop - you can trust me" - recalling this B.S. SALES PITCH - totally trusting a former police officer - "falling" for typical, expected car dealer mentality/disgusting, selfish motive & LIES - just [really] irritated with yet ANOTHER SALES REP. And worse.....I'm retired/TOTALLY, permanently disabled (with a short life expectancy, for a 49 year old, thus my seeking (sought) the RV full-time lifestyle! Why would one EXPECT - any - better from ANY (vehicle) sales person RVs?

ESPECIALLY BE AWARE! AND - especially of [ANY] CAMPING WORLD, cause they're TRULY a "world" of their own!

Don't buy a used camper. That on you that you did not have someone look at it first.

That is on you. Why would you buy something you can not take care of or tow.

Salt Lake City

Updated by user Mar 12, 2017

Not that important, but reviewing my notes, when I called Friday March 3rd I talked to a Brady not Bradley. Also, other than our introduction first thing Thurs a.m., the only other time Kelly came out her office through the entire ordeal was when I requested she tell me to my face that she had mentioned a deposit as she had told her manager.

Original review Mar 11, 2017
March 11, 2017 CEO Camping World Corporate Office & Headquarters 650 Three Springs Road Bowling Green KY 42104 Dear Sir, This letter is being written in hope something might be done, procedures, communication, whatever, to keep anyone else from going through what I just did. My wife and I decided we were ready for an RV a little larger than what we currently own so I went on a search for what we wanted. That being a Navion 24g of certain years and configuration. On rvtrader.com I found just what we were looking for at your Salt Lake City dealer. Thinking it might be easier to follow what happened, I will try via a timeline format. Tuesday February 28th: I called the store and was transferred to a salesperson named Kelli. I asked her questions that weren’t on the website and inquired about a range of trade-in value on our RoadTrek. She said she would call me back with the info. Wednesday March 1st: No return phone call. Thursday March 2nd: Afternoon, having still not received a return call, I called the store and was transferred to end up with Kelli’s voice mail, left her a message. Friday March 3rd: By mid-afternoon having not yet getting a return call, I called the store and asked if I could talk to a salesperson other than Kelli, was transferred to Bradley. Told him a brief history of what had happened with a half serious, have joking comment about wanting to deal with a salesperson that was interested in selling an RV. He took the basic details on our RoadTrek and promised to call back in 5 to 10 minutes. Less than 2 minutes later our phone rang and it was Kelli saying she was getting back to me with my requested info, no mention of my conversation with Bradley. I thanked her and told her that my wife and I would discuss and get back to her. She said fine but mentioned there was coincidentally another gentleman from California that had called about the same unit. I couldn’t help but think that by what had transpired she thought I was a different person than who originally called. Monday March 6th: I called Kelli and told her that I was interested enough in the Navion that I was going to fly from my home in Northern California Wednesday the 8th, after a business meeting that I could not miss, to Salt Lake City and would see her when they opened Thursday morning. I also mentioned to her that we were not interested in trading in our RoadTrek. I asked if she could please take my cell number as I would not be home and call me if anything changed before I flew out on Wednesday. She said she would. Wednesday March 8th: After arriving in Salt Lake City that night my wife called to say that when she had arrived home that evening there was a message on the answering machine from Kelli stating that there were no deposits on the Navion and it was still there. I wondered why she hadn’t called my cell as agreed but regardless, all was well. (To tie in later, absolutely no question, that was the first time I had heard the word ‘deposit.’) Thursday March 9th: Arrived at the store a couple minutes after 9 and asked for Kelli. She met me accompanied with a gentleman named Jeff whom she said would show me the unit as he was much more familiar with the Navion than she. Jeff walked me out telling me a little history on the RV. After looking in the interior with much discussion, Jeff went to start it to move it out so we could access the exterior and it wouldn’t start, low battery from setting for 2 months and evidently something was left on. While Jeff went to get assistance I continued exploring the interior and had decided that we would come to terms and I would be off to California in it. Try to imagine my feeling when literally climbing out of the driver’s seat I had just adjusted for my drive home to be told “sorry, it’s sold, someone left a deposit with the internet sales department after business hours last night.” Jeff walked me back to the office to meet with the manager, Levi. My shock must have been very evident. Levi explained the situation to me ending with there was nothing he could do as I had left no deposit. Again, absolutely, the first I had been told anything about a deposit. Being a person who had retired from a life of nothing but operating on ‘good faith’, I’m still wondering what about the facts that with my verbal and physical commitment to having transferred all the funds needed to our checking account, booking a one way flight, the expense of an overnight stay, car rental, and bringing what was needed for a 2 day drive home wasn’t commitment enough. If informed, I would have had no qualms about a deposit. Levi did treat me with courtesy and searched to find a comparable unit. Jeff was also very professional and willing to do what he could to help the situation. Unfortunately, what we want is a narrow search. After me commenting on not only my time wasted, but the money wasted on my journey, Levi did offer to write me a check for $300 to cover my one way air fare. I’m still out another $500 for the return flight, room, and car. And no, this letter is not about my monetary expense. That said, I personally don’t want to think so, but, of the few people who have listened to the whole story, almost everyone’s first comment has been, “somebody tipped the other guy off’’. Hopefully, it was all just an unfortunate learning experience that no one else should have to go through. I know this seems like a long letter, I have included what I think necessary. There was plenty of other conversation along the way which is rather pertinent and some not so. Please feel free to contact me if you feel necessary. Sincerely,

Delayed Shipping and Lies

I ordered a couple of items from Camping World online. I received one of the items I ordered and when I checked my account online, the item I received had a tracking number but the other item said, "direct from manufacturer." I sent an email to CW and made an inquiry about the missing item. As you can guess, the email was not answered! A few days later, I called and spoke to a customer service rep. He put me on hold and called the company. When he returned to the phone, he told me the item was drop shipped from the company and I could call back for a tracking number. When I told him I was familiar with shipping and I know a tracking number is issued at the time a label is printed, he was silent. He told me he put a rush on it and they didn't know the items were back ordered. I put this order in about 3 weeks ago and nothing was said about a delay or back order. If the item was shipped, there is a tracking number. The rep didn't care about what he told me and just wanted to get off the phone. I will never order anything from CW and I don't think I'll go to their store anymore.

Our experience at Saukville & Deforest, WI

July 26 '17 My Wife & I are newbies when it comes to RV's & RVing. We are seriously considering a lifestyle change to include some traveling. After doing a lot of searching on the internet we decided to take a day & make a trip from the Green Bay WI area down to Camper World in Saukville & Deforest, WI to see them first hand. The following is our experiences at both locations. At both location the salesperson were not very informed with the units on the lot. To start off, I have never written or posted a review before. Saukville. WI Upon our arrival we met a salesperson and told him we were interested viewing & more info on Class C RV's. We did view 5-6 units ranging in price from $70k-$100k+. Each unit we viewed had some serious issues ranging from holes in interior doors, scratches in walls, doors not opening & closing properly, Steps not extending, electrical equip missing & one even had a lug nut on the front wheel missing. Needless to say this is very discouraging to see this on new units. When I mentioned it to the salesperson they said that people steal & wreck things all the time. I said that a little security might be needed & that it's not very re-assuring from the customer's point of view. To that I was told everything would be taken care of when purchased.....(Kinda late, don't you think? You only get one chance to make the first impression) Deforest, WI Pretty much the same experience as Saukville, although the units were in better condition. The main issues here was that the salesperson didn't know how to work the options on the different units. In one unit, that was $100K+, they couldn't extend the slides, turn on electrical, or extend the steps. In another, it had LED lighting cord hanging from the ceiling, Needless to say, our first experience with RVing & especially Camping World was NOT good. I would assume that a company this size & the reputation of it's CEO Marcus Lemonis, would be, at least, be trying to put it's best foot forward. I have a pretty bad taste in my mouth now, so if & when we buy our first RV it probably won't be with either of these locations. Mike & Gina Wildenberg

Worst experience ever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have received the worst customer service by your company I was flat out ignored by your customer service team after not shipping my item for 9 days after I was told I would have it in 5 to. 7 days. I asked several times to have my item RUSH rush shipped paying for extra even as I needed this item. I was told after asking 5 times it shipped and here is tracking. Did not even acknowledge my request. Then I received a 15% off email in the middle of all this which I wanted applied to my order because it hasn't shipped again was not even acknowledged flat out ignored. I have worked in customer service for 30 years and never in my life have I seen worse customer service. I am reporting this to the better business bureau and any and all reviews I find about your company I will pass along my story. Never again will I order from this company and will make sure everyone I know does not either.

Extremely dissappointed in Service Charge as a long time customer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Brought my 2010 Chalet into the shop in Woodstock Ga. Needed a skylight cover replaced. This plastic piece was $39. The service dept did not quote me a price to make this modest repair, and when it was fixed, they charge total was $392. A $39 plastic cap replacement costs roughly $400. I have asked the service manager for consideration on this charge to no avail. As a consumer, these labor charges for a simple fix is more then I pay licensed HVAC, Plumbing or engineer contractors in my business. I've bought 2 RV's and was in line for a 3rd, from this camping world. This experience is insulting and as a customer, I will not go back to Camping World as a buyer. Robert

Dear camping world. You'll never see another dime from me. If you had smart leadership (you don't) you wouldn't try to shove your political agenda down your customers throats. PS: our RV was in for repairs at Camping World when it was robbed on site. Camping World took no responsibility and didn't pay for a dime. I'm not shocked at all that your leadership leans to the Left politically. Total crooks.

Brand new 2016 forest river RV major problems TERRIBLE service!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. This has been our experience and it's STILL on going.

Purchased May 2016: Spectic Sani wash feature FAULTY, installed incorrectly at the manufacturer ; does not work. Was not repaired until Aug 2016. Used RV all summer without this feature. "Waiting on warranty from manufacturer" is what we were told!

That took 3 months! Power cord FAULTY; no power to the coach. Stranded in Nova Scotia with NO POWER. Generator FAULTY; will not start.

Dealer says "gunked up", only had it for two weeks, we never used it, how could it be gunned up? Stove burners DO NOT WORK. Repaired one at a time! Waiting for parts!

Living room window screen has fallen apart. No water pressure in the coach. Water trickles out of faucets and shower... they said they repaired this on 3/14/17....

used today 3/17/17 for the first time since repair SUPPOSEDLY made.... still trickling out... we have video. Living room slide out insulation: improperly installed and falling out.

Dinette seat top; installed incorrectly and falling off. Levelers STUCK and unable to move RV; stranded in Maine, Sept 2016. We called BigFoot Leveling Co, told us what to do to be able to move; disconnected computer. Brought in for repair.

Oct: levelers not showing retraction. Brought in for repair. November: TOLD dealer BigFoot told us the fault was in the SENSOR. Once again they said it was repaired.

Nov: Stuck in Maine AGAIN. Computer NOT recognizing levelers are up. Dec: Brought in AGAIN. Reiterated to CHECK THE SENSOR.

Issue found. Sensor replaced. Jan/Feb: leverlers NOT working; Now they are saying the computer is FAULTY. That has now been repaired....

although I don't trust it to work properly, it is right now. Last night while driving the rear/side camera started flashing and now stays STUCK ON the drivers side!! Really pleasant when the other drivers headlights flash in your face while driving! The camera is NOT WORKING 3/17/17.

Better Business Bureau is involved, Attorney General has been contacted. We will go to court if necessary! Save yourself a LOT of aggravation.... DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Update 3/20/17::And so it continues..... camping world had our RV this past week to make sure ALL was good with our RV since we've had SO MANY problems! Well.... they didn't fix the low water pressure.....

I sent them the video and received an email back letting me know how WE COULD TRY TO FIX IT!!! We can UNSCREW the faucet and try to put the hose on it to blow back any debris.... WTF!!! And just now as we are driving down the highway our moulding is flying off!!

Update 3/23/17 New issue, the air conditioner is draining/leaking inside on the bed over the cab!! The bed is soaked!

We have t had any rain and we couldn't figure out why the bed was wet, so we went outside to look. It is draining into the windows on both sides!

Good God!!! I'd have pulled that SOB to Camping World and told them my attorney would be in touch!

I've never heard of so many problems with a Forest River. I've been looking them over and sort of prefer them to some of the others. I've heard Heartland has been having a lot of problems with theirs.

I'm thinking of either a Forest River Vengeance toy hauler, or a Grand Design Momentum toyhauler. Hope you get all your problems resolved!!

Can you please learn to use a period. You should have checked the camper before you took it home.

You will very soon get tired of the camping world service, at any of the locations.

Time to go find a dealership that actually cares about people, they might help you out if you are nice to them.

Credit for $30 Good Sam Coupon

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I recently renewed my Good Sam membership for an additional 3 yrs. Good Sam sent me a $30 coupon for Camping World for renewing for three yrs., so I placed a $130 order over the phone with Camping World. Upon checking out I was told that in order to use the coupon I needed to send the coupon to the Bowling Green headquarter office with my order number written on the coupon and it would be credited back to my credit card. I was told this procedure was to prove that I actually made the purchase and that I was entitled to the $30 credit? I tried to do it over the internet, but the internet would not allow me to enter the Good Sam coupon, so I called the Camping World order line and was told the above procedure, and told it was a quick turn around. Not really understanding the reasoning behind this procedure, I followed directions and mailed the coupon that day with the order # on it that day. I have yet to receive any refund for this $30 Good Sam coupon. Where is it Camping World?

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service, service dept, including manager and Bruce were wholly inept and should definitely consider a career change. Salesman pounce eager to HELP you through the buying experience all the while lying about pretty much everything ie: amenities in the unit, items will get fixed right away (brand new unit on the lot), you would be much better off going to reputable dealer ie: Northgate rv, choo choo, heck pretty much anybody

Thor Motorhome

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased a brand new Thor Class A Motorhome from Camping World with the total extended warranty. Remote mirrors did not work. Camping World service department could not fix or find the problem, so after a period of time, they told me to take it to Ford as it is a Ford problem. Amazing, I could not believe what they said! Dumb ***! So I took it home, found the wiring problem and corrected it myself. Then when I brought it out of storage this spring the Onan gas generator would not start. The Motorhome is only 9 months old with only 2000 miles on it, most of which was from the delivery to Rapid City, SD. After Camping World has had the Motorhome for two months with no communication, I called to check on what is happening. They said the generator repair is not covered by the original warranty or the high priced extended warranty they talked me into at the time of purchase. I had heard bad things about Camping World and now I personally know they are true. The sales department will tell you anything to make a sale, the added warranty is a joke and the service department could *** up a two piece puzzle.

yes, ignorance and disorder are the company policy. I bought a new $40,000.00 camper trailer in Camping world and was in service for 6 months of the first year of use , under warranty, and never fixed it. They give you an appointment to repair for a month after you call, and they start working a month later. and very bad work. When leaving messages for the camping world manager they are never returned, the service manager does't do his job. I only had it when was in storage. If you want to be unhappy buy here. DO NOT DO IT , the service manager does't do his job., the service manager does't do his job. ***************************************************
