Bartow Camping World

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In June 2017 I traded my motor home that I purchased at Dusty's Camping World in Bartow. I have had several prior terrible experiences there in the past with the service dept, being lied to and not answering the phone as they see who it is on caller ID!!!.

Well, here is another one, I had three years left on a paint and decal extended warranty when I traded it in. I asked for a refund for the three years I had on the agreement and they told me there was no refund coming. When I asked why, they told me the coatings were on the camper and I had nothing coming back. Camping World had nothing to be responsible for at all with this extension.

I wrote to the CEO of Camping World, Marcus Lemonis, and advised him of this matter. No response!! So I have to eat $925.00?? When I asked Camping World why I received a partial rebate for my tire and wheel extension, which also went with the motor home, they had no answer.

I read several reviews on Camping World from all parts of the country and all seem to have the same problems. I suggest Lazydays, as they do not do business this way.

Why would you go back there. Did you not learn from the first time

Me, I don't go back to a place if I've had "several terrible experiences" there.

Why would you trade with them again?

Spammers - I was never a customer

This company got my email address when USPS gave it to them without my permission. Now they won’t stop SPAMMING me, despite repeated unsubscribed. I think this is illegal, but I don’t have the time or money to do anything about it, so they are flooding my mail box almost daily with ads I don’t want. Since they don’t care about my concerns with this, I can only assume that it’s a crap company that cares about nothing except profit. I will continue to leave reviews as long as I am being flooded with unwanted emails. I’m not sure why this site is requiring 100 words. Even a poor consumer experience could be explained in fewer words than that.

The CEO yelled at me and told me not to shop there

So apparently because I have different opinions than him he doesn't want me to shop at his stores. Instead of embracing diversity, he shuts it out and creates an echo chamber inside his company. He is a racist, egotistical, bigot. I am a huge outdoors person, and loved browsing camping world, and shopping there. I will go out of my way to visit bass pro shop, and just smaller camping stores, or stores like Target and Walmart before i ever shop at camping world again. You better make sure you align with the CEOS beliefs before you shop there or you may just be insulted, and shunned.

Camping World refund policy

I ordered from Camping World and before I even got delivery the item went on sale. They absolutely refused to credit my credit card! Instead their only solution was a store credit, which if returned could be exchanged for a check? Are you kidding me? FYI I still haven't seen the voucher for the credit! Criminals!!!! I have NO idea how these people stay in business! I will certainly not purchase anything there again. Places like this should be boycotted by all! {{Redacted}}

Camping World

Camping World customer for 30 years! No more! A CEO is in place to run a business not pontificate on politics! The tragic events in Charlottesville were masterminded by political operatives with the goal of causing chaos and subverting the free speech rights of all Americans. The officials there knew what they were doing and allowed factions with different opinions explode and someone ended up getting killed. The police were told to withdraw and allow the violence as planned by outside and inside agitators. Shame on the Charlottesville officials and on those who can't seem to look at things with an objective eye and recognize it was a setup.

NO THIS IS NOT RESOLVED! March 13,2017, that has been on their lot since July 29,2016 for a step repair, went to pick up my RV as noted by the Service Manager and Service Rep, I have now paid for the second time for the set of awning arms, when this service location initially installed the arms and they did not work when we got home, then when I bring it back for warranty, the arm has now been bent and they claim that is not their issue and I would have to pay to install new arms but they would pay for the labor, then there was a charge for $220 to install and replace the battery box and battery core charge, then I finally get a walk through yesterday with my persistence to check out, and it is noted when you open the battery door all the components were as factory installed, duh?, nobody wanted to take the time to open the door even after many requests from me on what was the work done and who made the decision to do this work, duh, the managers did not go and physically check the unit for work done, the managers claims since the unit was repaired before he was an employee at this location he is not responsible for any and all charges to the unit, when I requested for the walk through papers that were done upon arrival, he told me they were now archived and cannot be recovered to check for the issues on the RV when delivered July 29, 2016,

Original review Feb 12, 2017
I have been doing business with Camping world for more than a decade, and the service is all good with smiles at the service counter, but once they have your RV you never know what you will be charged for, what will be fixed and not, just charged for, when will it be ready, I took the RV in May 2016 and the wait began, they are the largest repair service around the US and it takes forever to get parts ordered, I had work done and picked up in July 2015, and did not do a walk through before picking it up, very bad decision we were so distraut just got out of there, oh they garanteed all is good and ready to go, and then went out of state to find out the work was not functional, then I report it to the Camping World and tell them I cannot get back till July 2016, not a problem we will honor your problem and see you then, so I take it in July 2016 and in February 2017 I get a phone call and the RV is ready, no go through the walk through no, not working, work has been noted and recorded on the work-order, now they claim it is out of warranty, but it has been sitting on their lot for six months waiting repairs, what do you do, how much more do you do than complain on this site, this is a huge financial situation to pay for what you already paid for and the work was not completed, they have the RV

Purchased motor home in July 2017 it is now October 2017, no repairs made, unable to use .

On July 22, 2017, we purchased a 2008 Winnebago Tour from Camping World in Panama City, FL. We were told there was nothing wrong with the unit and it was ready to go. After waiting three days, we went back for delivery. A young man was to give us a walk thru of how to operate the RV. After two hours of pointing out its features he was unable to tell us how certain features worked. He explained he was not familiar with Winnebago. I specifically asked about certain items that did not work or he did not show us and he would only reply he wasn't sure. By now we were way passed their closing time and decided to go home with the unit as it was getting late. We were assured if there were any issues Camping World would take care of the issues. On the way home with the coach in operation i noticed several things didn't work. The right side camera didn't work at all and the left side was blurred. The house AC was not cooling properly (had asked about this problem repeatedly and was told because it was a bog unit it would take a few hours to cool down). The dash air did not work at all, while at the dealer asked about the operation of it and was blown off by the "delivery" guy saying he didn't know how to operate it. I also discovered that the hydraulic leveling system was not functioning properly and one of the awnings was not working. I had asked the delivery guy about the leveling system to which he replied we didnt need to use it because most camping spots were level. After driving the unit home on Thursday I called Friday morning and talked to the manager, I told him there were things wrong with the unit. He said he knew about some things but these problems were not conveyed to me. Therefore i took the unit back to the dealership that very morning Friday. The manager asked me to let them wait until the extended warranty kicked in, and they would repair everything, I told him NO, I wanted the unit fixed. He promised me face to face it would be taken care of. He said he would contact the previous owner and ask them to pay for the repairs. After waiting two more weeks and not hearing anything I called back, and the manager said he was going to get it fixed. I called back a few days later and he said it was ready to picked up that the house air and dash air were repaired and they would repair the other issues later. I picked up the unit only to discover it was not repaired so I took it back and it still there no repairs have been made as of Oct. 1st 2017.

No one should be treated this way!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I cant even begin to explain how disgusted I am with my entire RV purchase experience. I am tempted to drop it off and tell Hillsboro, OR Camping World where they can shove it. The Parts and Service department is a wreck, they never answer the phone, they leave voicemails that explain nothing and then its like pulling teeth to get in touch with someone! When our camper was "inspected" the awning was found to be damaged. They told us 7-10 days it would be in and replaced. A month and MANY phone calls later we find out it had come in wrong part, and been reordered. A week after the expected arrival date of THAT one we started the tedious process of reaching a human again to get updates. Two days later when we finally did, the person had a difficult time getting information- like it was something only one person knew and couldn't just be looked up on a pc order form or something. We finally were told it was on back order and it could be "a long time". So, two MONTHS after purchasing the trailer, we brought it home without an awning,...and with a broken outdoor speaker cover, a missing miniblind wand, a missing propane cover, and a torn mattress (a foot long tear in the foot of the mattress)!!!!! Imagine how thrilled we were to find these things!!! So we emailed the ONLY decent person we had been dealing with, Vicki in Sales. She forwarded the list to Parts and Service. On June 6th we received another call about the awning, with no information other than to call back. Which we did. Many, many times. I left voicemails and email address. When I called again today I found out Jose is in Mexico on vacation now and he was the one who knew what was what with our trailer apparently.. It wasn't easy, but we finally found out why he called, The new awning came in! Damaged. So another was ordered, It's unknown if it was ordered express shipping or what the expected delivery date is, and Matt was "in the middle of dealing with another customer", so, you know, he couldn't sit there listening to us complain about something he "couldn't do anything about". When asked if he could at least order the other parts? "We'll see what I can do..." was the response. Not one person has offered us anything other than these words, "well it happens a lot". This is disgusting. No one could get away with running a smaller business like this, but since you are a giant cooperation apparently its okay. The awning wasn't even ordered until a month after it was supposed to be. Then the company who ships the parts keeps making mistakes and everyone just shrugs their shoulders and doesn't know what to do? Complete and utter garbage. I want to be compensated for the 2 and half months now that I hadn't been able to use my camper, for all the wasted time trying to get in touch with a human, then trying to find a human who knew what was going on, then for them treating US like WE were the ones doing something wrong, for all my wife's frustrated tears, the disappointment of my children when we had to cancel two camping trips because of all of this... and not one person has stepped up to offer a god *** thing to attempt to make this right. When it is time to upgrade my trailer I will finally listen to all the other reviews and I will NOT go through the company, as the closest dealer here has left me feeling swindled.

Never again

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
In June of 2014 we purchased a 2007 Tioga 31SL class C from Wood Village Oregon Camping World. This was our first experience with an RV dealership and didn't do our due diligence with researching camping worlds deplorable reviews . I wish we had , because we are just another customer that's been lied to and abused by camping world. Our finance manager told us it was a five year extended warranty , come to find out later it was only 48 months ! Then camping world took 3 months to process the paperwork for the registration ! Which meant we couldn't drive our RV for the planned 2 week vacation!! The extended warranty turned out to be as worthless as the paper it was written on. We used the warranty only once after 2 1/2 years , due to a broken step motor and poor running generator. I called to make the appointment for repairs on September 28th 2016 and were told they were booked up until November 29th !!! 2 months ? Really ! A week after the repairs we test the generator and it's still not fixed ! In April of 2017 we traded in the RV for a class A at Johnson RV ( which I highly recommend) and cancelled the extended warranty with camping world . I did the math and expected a refund of 1694.00 but was told no . My refund will be 1093.00 because they are deducting the 601.00 dollars they spent on the repairs !! It's June 1st 2017 and I still have not received my 1093.00. I called them today but just get voice mails. We will NEVER step foot in any camping world again . I've told everyone that will listen to avoid camping world like the plague . The CEO Marcus Lamonis should be ashamed of himself. It makes me happy to know that the new 40 foot 5th wheel that my sister and brother in law are buying plus ALL the RV supplies they need will NOT be purchased at camping world. They've seen what we've gone through and vow never to be camping worlds next victim.

Very poor customer service and issues not resolved

Bought brand new 2018 Fifth Wheel never have received 2nd chair that was supposed to be included. Took 5th wheel back for paint and interior detail told them about a gas leak that caused alarm to go off and run battery dead. They said leave it a couple of days well 3 weeks later we had a trip planned and had to go pick it up. Still no answer other then they didnt find anything. They left all lights on so battery was dead again. We will not go back never puchase from them again and throwing our Camping World card in the garbage.

We have driven three trips of 150 miles round trip to fix items on our new purchase rv. We found another problem while waiting for parts and wanted to let them know and the status of parts on order. We have called four times and left messages for service and asked to return our calls and no one returns them. I wish I knew this problem before I made the purchase or I never would have bought from them. Buyer beware!

I will take Mr. Lemonis at his word and take my business elsewhere. I was never pleased with their workmanship on my RV anyway. This guy is on TV as the Prophet...the ultimate business wizard. He really is not as smart as his arrogance portrays. What business owner offends half of America which represents a very large percentage of his customers in middle America. i will NEVER shop in one of his stores OR visit any of the business he has affiliated through the Prophet. Wise up Marcus. Keep your political views to yourself. Your self righteous remarks were selfish. Your words will hurt the livelihoods of your employees as your revenues feel the brunt of your ignorant comments.

I could'nt agree more. Extremely selfish.

Obviously he does not care about his employees. I would add he is completely out of touch with his customer base. Some business expert......he has no clue of the impact of his words.

If every Trump or conservative voter indeed took their business elsewhere Camping World would fold unless he props it up with his inherited money. Get the word out that Lemonis doesn't want conservative shoppers.

Bait & Switch, No response from Corporate

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
On Saturday January 21st, my wife and I attended the Camping & RV Show at the Galleria in Marietta Georgia. We browsed over 100 different campers and companies. We ended up coming to the same conclusion we did about a year ago, the Jayco bunkhouse was best for our family. We begin the purchase discussions with Gary, the sales rep with Camping World. We told him we wanted a different trim color, we negotiated the sales price, approved a lender through Camping World's partnership and told him we wanted to think about it overnight to make sure we were making the best decision. On Sunday January 22nd the sales manager from the show called me and asked me what it would take to make a deal today. We discussed it and agreed upon it. I drove the hour long drive back to the show and began to sign papers. Upon signing, I saw the VIN number was the same one as the demo at the show. I asked about it and they said they made a mistake and he went to correct it. When he came back he said they did not have the trim we wanted so this is was the next best thing. My wife was not happy as this seemed to be a bait and switch tactic. We discussed it with the sales rep and he apologized but that he couldn't do anything to get the camper we were promised with the features we were promised. We eventually ended up agreeing to the demo camper that had all the features except the trim we wanted. He promised the stains in the floor would be taken care of, the trim on the front storage compartment would be fixed, and we could pick it up from Woodstock. On Monday January 23rd I received the call from the delivery team and they told me I would have to drive 2 hours to Oakwood Georgia to pick up my unit. I was furious but had no other choice. They told me they would have it cleaned and ready to go but that I needed to plan on an hour and a half so that they could go over the unit with me. When I arrived, the delivery specialist was not available so they put me with a tech named Tom. Tom was the best thing of this whole experience. He was nice friendly and very knowledgeable. He did everything he could do to make the process smooth and I learned as much as I could from him. The unit was not washed, the stains and trim had not been taken care of, the remote did not work fully because of a burned out fuse, the TV remote did not work, the outdoor kitchen door did not shut right and the lock was broken. While I waited for him to attach the anit-sway hitch to my truck we bought over $150 of accessories. When the truck was brought around by another driver, the sway bar hitch broke and dented the front tow frame of the camper. We had to have pieces of the hitch replaced. We were at Camping World for 7 hours and we still do not have a camper in a condition that we were promised. Now we have to go back when the parts get in, all the way back to Oakwood and have the carpet cleaned or replaced and the outdoor kitchen replaced which will be several weeks to months from what I am told. Since the first week, I have taken my trailer to a different camping world only 40 minutes away. That was on February 11th. At that point I was told that it was going to be several weeks or up to a month before they would even look at the trailer. We have now had to cancel 2 camping trips (one with several other people and one with our family). I got an update from the service manager last week and he said he was still waiting on warranty items to come in so they still don't have plans to start working on the trailer. So I was sold a unit with a certain trim then told it wasn't available and then settled for a different unit based on an understanding that it would be in perfect condition. The promise that the unit would be perfect at delivery yet nothing was done to make it close to perfect. Then had to drive 2 hours (almost into another state) away from my home instead of picking it up from the dealership closer to my house like I was told. I have purchased a camper that is not at new quality, not the unit we wanted and hasn't even been in my driveway yet. I have sent emails to people at dealership and at corporate with no resolution. The sales Manager at Oakwood dealership told me I "Got an awesome deal and maybe it was too good because they couldn't follow through with it"???? Really?

BETTER OFF

YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF BUYING A POP UP CAMPER AND A TENT. ALSO DON'T FORGET ABOUT HAVING CAMPERS PUT ON THE BACK OF YOUR TRUCKS. THAT IS THE WAY OUR PARENTS DID IT. YOU WOULD SAVE MONEY AND BE SO HAPPY. REMEMBER TRUCK STOPS HAVE TOILETS AND SHOWERS. I THINK EVEN BUYING A VAN IS A GOOD IDEA. YOU CAN STAY IN CABINS AND STATE PARKS WITH VERY SIMPLE CAMPING GEAR. YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY INSURANCE AND YOU DON'T HAVE VEHICLES THAT ONLY GET 8 MILES TO A GALLON OF GAS. THAT IS AWFUL IN ITSELF. PARKS HAVE CABINS TO. WE REALLY SHOULD ALL SIMPLIFY OUR LIVES. WE MAKE IT MISERABLE BY THE THINGS WE THINK WE NEED AND WANT BUT SOMETIMES IT MAKES US MISERABLE. CHILDREN ARE REALLY HAPPY WITH SIMPLE ANYWAY. WE ARE TO. WHEN YOU GET HOME FROM YOUR TRIP YOU WILL STILL HAVE MONEY IN THE BANK TO BUY GROCERIES AND FEED YOUR PETS. TODAY IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT!!!!!!! I WISH YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS WHEN IT GETS HERE AND REMEMBER: JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!!!!! I DON'T KNOW ANY OF YOU BUT I WILL BE PRAYING FOR GOD'S BEST FOR YOU IN YOUR LIFE. HE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE. AMY
