Camping World in Dover, Florida - Bad customer service

Details
They lost a customer today. I have a travel trailer that was purchased at a competitor in town but I wanted to try the service out at Camping World. I made my appointment a month ago and confirmed they could work on the specific trailer that I own. They told me they could get the warranty items from my manufacturer so I thought it was all great. This morning I spend an hour to go get the trailer from storage, hook it up to my truck, and drive in traffic towards Camping World for my appointment. I get a call 10 minutes before the appointment to tell me they can’t work on my trailer. They apologize but do not offer anything for my inconvenience. It would have been nice to get notified earlier that 10 minutes before the appointment or since they discovered this so late, they could have offered for me to bring it in for a complimentary service and wash or anything since I was already close to their store. I missed work this morning, wasn’t able to take my kids to school like normal, and wasted time and gas. Had they given me good customer service I most likely would have purchased my next RV from them in a year but now I will never go back. Such a sad way for them to treat a possible customer. I would recommend you double confirm anything you are purchasing or getting serviced with them.

OMG we are going through the same thing. It has been a nightmare.

I am hoping we can sue them or join a Class Action law suit. Why are people not doing a Class Action law suit. We have heard hundreds and hundreds of cases just like this. It is abuse.

This is so unfair to us the consumer and these RV companies are taking advantage of us and getting away with it.

I would join a law suit in a heart beat. We should all get together and take them down.

camping world accepted a settlement negotiated thru my salesmen there

Original review posted by user Mar 06, 2018

i purchased a roadtrek r.v. from camping world ,in fayetteville n.c. in october 2017.i heard about a roadtrek for sale there,a 2002 versatile.i spoke to Jonathon Napolitano,a sales man.he told me they just got it as a trade in.he also told me the last owner had just put in a brand new motor and transmission in it.i asked him if the all the appliances worked, fridge ,generator,ect....he said yes.it sounded affordable ,compared to those i had seen ,so i put a downpayment on it ,to hold it,until i could drive out to probably purchase the r.v. my wife is in remission for cancer and i wanted this r.v. to visit relatives soon as many are ailing.Jonathon knew this.iasked to see a bill of sales ,so i had no surprises, when i got there .I live almost 400 miles away in murphy n.c.,and had to rent a car to get there.that costs me $250.the price started at $23,750,for the rv.when he sent me the paperwork ,the price jumped to $27,. i called him and he said besides a doc fee of $400,there is a prep fee and a fee to explain all the systems in the roadtrek ,to me.the prep fee, he explained , goes over the rv ,and makes sure everything works, fridge generator tv,batteries, furnace .basically all the mechanical functions of an rv ,of which there are many.i had one before,a 1987 chevy horizon so i know it's complicated.we worked out a prep price and a walkthrough fee ,and i planned a day to travel to Fayetteville N.C. i met Jonathon the day i drove out there and we took a look at the rv.it looked very nice . Weeks before ,he had given me information as to who had put in the new motor and transmission. The head of service at at Jeff gordon Chevy told me weeks before that he had indeed replaced the engine, but it had 18.000miles on it and the transmission slightly less ,and both had A 100,000 mile warranty or two years (whichever came first) thru chevy. He sent me proof of this and i felt ,even though Jonathon said the engine was just replaced(not true),it was still a good deal.Well as i inspected the rv in greater detail, the generator did not work, well over $3000 to replace. The three way fridge ,the gas pilot and gauges did not work.we did get the gas to light ,but it took hours to begin cooling.Jonathon and the tech. said thats normal for these type of fridges.Later when i did get a new fridge ,as this one leaked ammonia so badly ,it was worthless,it cooled on gas very quickly, in 45 minutes! So the prep i paid $1400 for bagan to look like a complete ripoff.Of course between getting a new fridge and repairing the generator,i spent almost $1700.To their credit, they did put in a new ac unit .They did a terrible job installing it and the leaks that came into the rv were gushers to say the least! I personally fixed ,that leak which took many hours of my time. When i returned home from purchasing the rv ,i removed the cusions in the back sitting area,to show my wife how it turns into the bed a noticed severe wetness and leak damage all around the back and side areas to the bed sitting area.To make a long story short,i paid my local rv service to remove two windows that were leaking water into the coach. That costs over $200.After reading about roadtrek window leaks, some one talked about tailights also leaking,so we sealed them too.Not pretty, but most leaks are stopped now. Two days ago we got 3 inches of rain at my home and still water was coming in to three areas ,under the kitchen cabinets and stiil around 1 tailight.I spent several more hours on the roof of the rv ,caukling any screws, awning areas ect. to stop these remaining leaks that are not obvious. When we get more rain ,i will see if the remaining leaks are fixed. Of course ,i called Jonathon, who had promised me ,he would fix the generator, the day i bought the rv ,as it did not start. He said send him a list of complaints ,and he would try to help me get reimbursements for things they missed in the prep. I ,sent photos and explainations and told him to email me back when he recieved the info.He never responded. He would not answer his cell phone. The inverter he promised to send me never came, though he said he sent it.To his credit i did get reimbursement for two leaking valves (grey and black water) that leaked when i winterized the rv last november. But as far as the Well over $2000 of unexpected expenses i have had getting this rv road ready,Nothing! Jonathon told me before i drove out, all things work or will be fixed with the prep fee i paid for. This was an outright lye!The drainvalves, the fridge, the generator, the inverter, the water leaks from many sources,a basically dead house battery, all things that should have been repaired in the prep ,were not done! I tried to going to management,Jeff Miles and Steve Rogers, who seemed at first very willing to help. Then Jeff Miles refused to talk to me when i called 3 or 4 times.Steve Rogers was nice on the phone. After i sent him all the info, photos ect..., he would not answer phone calls or respond to e mails. Finally he did email back saying tha agm battery i bought to replace the weak one in the house part of the rv was too expensive. He did not even know what an agm battery was ,and that this is what is recommended for this rv ,as the battery is very hard to remove and must be maintanance free! Iknew he was blowing me off,so i gave up on him as well. I tried filing a complaint with camping world brand management in Illinois,of course, you guessed it a dead end street. They communicated with the Fayetteville camping world and told them to negotiate a settlement with me .No response from Steve Rogers the ceo there.I can try to go higher up in the camping world organization, but all i'll get is more hot air and lyes.So my recommendation is,if you want your rv purchasing experience to be pleasant and trustworthy avoid camping world in Fayetteville n.c.(Hope Mills n.c.) at all costs,or suffer the consequences, and waste hours and hours and thousands of $'s on unexpected rv repairs that you supposedly paid for with a huge prep fee. This way you can avoid people that lye to you like Jonathon Napolitano,Jeff Miles and most of all Steve Rogers the CEO! This man talked to me for over 45 minutes assuring me he would help, then ,within a week changed his tune, and refused to help at all!

quite the turn around, when i reconnected to my salesman, after several months he was very helpful and negotiated a settlement that i was happy with.he was not told of my continued problems ,and agreed to help with a mutual solution.he honored his promises, and and this matter has come to a much waited for conclusion!

one misprint i made writing this post,i meant the price jumped from $23,750 to $27,000,when i requested an e mail bill of sales ,before i drove out to Fayettelle camping world,so i would have no surprises when i got there.

Camping World - Awesome Customer Service and Customer Care

5.0
Details
Good Morning Shawn, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated the customer care that was given to my friend Joey; Joey is the young man I introduced you to a couple of weeks ago. Joey drove his grandmothers RV from Florida to Pea Ridge where she will be staying for a couple of months. Joey had an electrician put in a 30 amp plug for the RV and it was wired 220. Well you know the rest of the story; it blew everything. Joey is new to the area and did not know where to turn to so I told him I would put him in touch with Tim in your service department. I took Joey to your retail store where we met with Tim. Tim took about 25 minutes of his time to walk Joey through several scenarios as a process of elimination to try and find out when the issue problem was. After Joey got home and went through the check list that Tim provided it was determined that it was the converter. Tim had made an appointment for Joey just in case he had to bring it in which he did. Joey drove the RV there one morning and your service department got him in and fixed before 4:00 pm that same day even though the service department was very busy they managed to get his grandmothers RV in ahead of others and get it taken care of. That was great for Joey since his grandmother is staying in the RV. I hope you will take the time to thank Tim and I believe Alex for going way and above customer service. You now have a customer for like in addition to Joey is looking at purchasing a camper. Regards, Lolan Mackey

Camping World - Buyer beware.

Ordered part from Camping World website. Ordered from photograph and confirmed part number. What i recieved was not what i ordered. Called customer service and they triedto tell me that wat I ordered is what recieved. Took about 45 minutes to convince them it was not. I explained that i ordered a C40065 wheel kit and they sent a 40065 wheel kit. The "C" in the model no. 8s a different kit. I explained that I verified this and was specific in my order even though their website specified the "C" model number and pictured the "C" model number wheel kit. They finally said that the would have someone call in 48 hours (?) to resolve the problem. That was 4 days ago. No word since. Called the part manufacturer and the problem was resolved in less than 10 minutes. Camping World ae very poor customer service.

Camping World in Strafford, Missouri - Unethical (Internal Communicatioins)

1.5
Details
Called Camping World in Strafford Missouri about a unit we were interested in we asked what was the best price they could give us. The lady came back with a price and we said that was a little more than we wanted to pay. We then contacted a Camping World in Mesquite Texas. The salesman said we can do better than the Camping World in Missouri by a $1,000.00. I asked how did he know about the price we were given in Missouri and he said they have an internal memo system through out Camping World that lets them know what other salesmen quoted. We called the lady back at the Camping World in Missouri and asked why she circulated our name and price through all the Camping Worlds she got defensive and wanted to know who gave them away. She then attempted to say she only did it to make sure she got her commission. She said she would try to remove our name from the Camping World list. Since we have no intentions of shopping Camping World anymore I guess we will never know if she actually did.

Camping World in Council Bluffs, Iowa - Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service! This business has no business even being in business. They will hold your camper hostage until the warranty expires. We have been paying for indoor storage for months and they have had our camper for four months now. They are the most unprofessional and on organized company I have ever worked with. If you’re to take anyone’s advice it would be to find a new warranty facility to take your camper to. They truly do not care at camper world.

Camping World - Nightmare!

Details
We bought a news camper and arranged for a trade in on our old camper. We were pre-approved for the loan, went into Camping World, signed all of the paperwork. They took our old camper and paid off the loan. We took the new camper and thought all was well. We insured the camper, loaded it up for a trip. Meanwhile, we were trying to contact Camping World in Robertsdale, AL because the power cord was broken and we were promised a tv since we bought the camper at a camping show. We tried for two weeks to get in touch only to be put off, ignored, treated rudely, and when we finally got in touch, they informed us that they found out from the bank that we were not approved after all. They never tried to make things right or said they made a mistake. Because I could not get a call back from the store OR from their corporate office, I commented on the Camping World Facebook page. I was immediately blocked and my comment was removed. We had to go get our old loan back and are at this point, trying to get them to come and bring our old camper back and pick up their new camper. This is not the way to conduct business and not the way to treat customers.

Camping World - Horrible place to do business.

My TT was in for a bad fridge. It sat for over 14 days and not a thing was done. Heartland approved a swap with a new fridge on 2/27 @ 2:30 cst. I went to dealer to try to get resolved. The Operations Mgr. Sonny told me the part was not here yet. Never had a clue that full replacement had been authorized by both Dometic and Heartland. The insult I received by being told I could use an ice chest was above and beyond. I will not let camping world change a light bulb. I truly feel sorry for anyone who HAS to use this dealer for any kind of repair. Obviously they don't give a *** about veterans either.
