Camping World - Lies, Overcharge and poor customer service

1.0
Details
I bought my 2014 coach in Sept of 2014. I’ve had nothing but issues with it and took it to camping world in olive branch, MS beginning in 2015 for warranty repairs. They kept my coach for months and when I finally got it back it still wasn’t right. Every time they say it’s ready things have not been fixed. While they keep my coach for months at a time they have had it around a total of 2 years which means I didn’t have it to use. While they have had it many items have been stolen from it and of course the response was they don’t know who took it and offered me a $100 gift card. What a joke. They currently have had it since Nov 2017 because the window on the entry door they fixed blew off while I was traveling down the interstate. Other things needed to be fixed that they didn’t previously fix properly and now they want me to pay them around $800 and $410 is for labor. How do they think they can charge wenlabor on rework? To top that they tested the house batteries and charged me $135 just to test them and then an additional $260 to replace them. I asked for copies of all my paper work and they sent me invoices and not all the paperwork. What shocked me was the dates they had my coach have been changed to make it look like they only had my coach a few days and no longer than a month. What a lie. I have proof of how long they had my coach so why lie about it. Contacting corporate and the CEO will probably be a waste of my time. I would not recommend camping world to anybody and not even to buy a wagon if they had one. Extremely upset customer

Camping World in Grain Valley, Missouri - Warantee parts taking 2 months to ship!

This is unacceptable! My 6 month old camper needs a circuit board for the hot water heater and they try to tell me it’ll take 2 months before they get the part! How am I supposed to use my brand new camper if it doesn’t have hot water? If I wanted to tent camp, I would have saved my $20,000! This is horrid. It took me 10 phone calls and they are now telling me I HAVE TO PAY FOR EXPIDITED SHIPPING!!! Do not buy from camping world! They must have a horrible relationship with their manufacturer for such terrible turn around for parts!

Camping World in Caldwell, Idaho - Taken advantage of...

Being an out-of-state buyer I made the sad assumption I would be given a fair deal. First, they tried to sell it for a different price than agreed upon. I asked for a walkthrough video & was told it wouldn't upload. When I asked about issues with the rig I was told "everything works" I had to specifically ask about water damage & was told, "it looks like it might have had a little at one time but it had been repaired correctly". I woke up on a rainy morning to a puddle under a window & the whole nose wallboard bubbled out from water intake. It arrived with the windows open (this was in January) & the kitchen roof vent dome was completely broken with just the frame left. I emailed to ask why I wasn't told about the vent & the salesman replied: "The wind must have been bad on the trip down". No, this vent was already like this. I wasn't told about the 2 gashes in the ceiling & bedroom wall. Nor was I told about the broken molding on the entertainment center, the disgustingly dirty carpet that is stained beyond cleaning, the table that is so loose in its stands you cant put anything on it without it wobbling back & forth, the water connections that are rusted so bad that putting a hose on them is quite a chore, the water heater that is so rusted plug barely fits in & this after having to re-thread it, all the patchwork with some type of tape on the fender flares, the microwave that doesn’t operate completely, the furnace blower motor that is on its last leg, the shower that is pulled away from the wall & had to be re-attached & silicone before use as well as the shower connect hose that doesn’t fit the faucet & had to be replaced & finally the door that had stripped screws in the plate on the frame that had to be drilled out & replaced to get the door to shut properly. Then to top it off I live part-time in Utah & part time in Montana. I was told I HAD to license it in Utah. I told them I was in Montana for the most part of the year & needed to license it there then they sent the paperwork to the Utah DMV when I'm in Montana. All this because the finance guy was too lazy to rewrite the paperwork! Needless to say, it is not licensed yet. I specifically asked about a different broken vent & could they somehow secure it for the transport trip & was told yes, they didn't. The major thing is the roof leak. Upon closer inspection its obvious it’s been like this awhile, fixed with a small strip of cracked tape across the seam on the nose. I realize it’s an older trailer (2002) but come on I feel I was completely taken advantage of because I was buying sight unseen & trusted them to be honest with me when in fact they were just looking to dump this trailer. I was told the bank wouldn't accept my online credit app & they sent me another to sign. I was told the payments were figured reflecting a $1500 down payment but I was only required to pay $500 down - how does that work? Their transport & setup fee is outrageous especially when I was told the setup fee was to cover the service department doing a walk-through to inspect it. I wouldn't trust the service department to build a peanut butter sandwich based on all the issues this trailer has, things an inexperienced trailer buyer like myself saw immediately. It came with a paper temp tag & that's it as far as paperwork I even had to beg twice for my copies of the signed paperwork & then I was emailed a copy but a copy wasn't good enough for them when I was trying to get them to release the trailer for delivery, they had to wait until they got the originals back in the mail when they already had them signed by me & emailed to them. The whole experience has me wishing I would have gone through a local dealer or Bish’s RV. If I could return this rig I certainly would as I feel completely taken advantage of & played. I figured going through Campingworld I would at least be treated honestly when in fact all they were after was to dump this thing & I was the perfect buyer because I was female & from out of state. Lesson learned. The sad part is I work for a state park in the summer & what better place to promote an RV dealership....or not.

Camping World in Tallahassee, Florida - Two years later and we are still paying dearly

Details
We bought our 2016 Outback 298RE from Camping World (in 2016). We noted about 20 things prior to the PDI and we’re pretty pissed when we went to accept delivery. Nothing had been fixed... by nothing, I mean not even air added to the tires (which I found each had 45 psi in them... they take 65 psi). The next year was spent with multiple trips to them for warranty work. For the most part, their techs (local, hard working guys) fixed the issues. Some of the issues could not be resolved by them so I had to hire that work out to an experienced, independent repair person who skillfully corrected and improved our camper. I educated myself during that year and also tackled many issues myself which resulted in successful correction of poor craftsmanship. Poor craftsmanship isn’t Camping World’s fault. Their PDI process is inadequate. Their pricing is also outrageous. Over the last year, we’ve been educated more and more to find that we overpaid by about $10k. Ouch. The first year, we made payments using their *** financing. Another mistake. Refinanced with credit union and now aggressively paying our camper off. We keep it in tip-top condition and plan to NEVER buy another RV again since this one is all we will ever need. With certainty, we will never buy from Camping World again. Reach out to the CEO and you’ll get nothing. Marcus Lemonis is more concerned about being on TV than being there for customers who have a lot of money invested in their rigs purchased through CW. Avoid Camping World of Tallahassee and all other stores. I regret our decision to buy our camper there.

Camping World in Thornburg, Virginia - The worst I have ever exspenced

I bought my 2016 Rockwood Roo from Camping World in Thornburg in June of 2017. The converter and the microwave blew on our 2nd camping trip. We purchased a 4 year warrenty with it. They had the camper for a week and never even looked at it. The 2nd week we called and they said yes it needed a converter and a microwave. The 3rd week we called they never even ordered the parts and told us we had to pay for the shipping of the parts and it xould take 3 to 4 weeks to het it in . Needless to say we are going to pick the camper up amd make the repairs our self. I am so dissapointed. Spend all that money and they have had it 3 weeks and tell us we have to pay for shipping. They are a terriable place to deal with

Camping World - Ripped off

I went to buy a 2016 Colman camper at camper world in North little Rock off of galloway . I went through my bank so financing wasn't the problem . What was the was during our walk through . I made them turn on the ac which didn't seem like it was as cool as I would think it needed to be . But the salesman said it just has to run longer to get colder . like a dummy I believed him . So we turned on the air let it run awhile and was hot . Did not get cooler !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ac man came out and said not one but two was broke . I texted the salesman the week I bought the camper . He did nothing . Will never shop there again and would not advise anyone either . Spending 20000 dollars . You think I would have air !!!!!!!

Camping World - Always be prepared to walk away.

I went in to see if I could work a deal trading in my 2004 Class A for a new 5th wheel. My motorhome was back at my residence which is about 200 miles away. I was planning on storing the new 5th wheel in the town where CW is located. I gave them an honest description of the condition of my trade. I didn't want to drive it all the way down there just to be turned away. They said they still needed to do a check on my trade in unit, but baring any major problems everything should be good. They had allowed me the amount equal to the NADA book for trade in. Since everything seemed in order with the deal I agreed to the numbers and signed the deal. I followed through with my everything on my end and drove the motorhome down there 2 weeks later to "finish everything up". After about an hour the Salesman comes back and says there were a lot of issues with my trade basically going down the list of everything I had disclosed and described to them two weeks earlier. He said they also needed to keep the unit into the week to have a mechanic look over the transmission. I had to be back at home the next day since I worked during the week. They also wanted to put an additional $5000 into the deal to cover the issues I had told them about before. Since I had an problem with both issues I asked for the keys to my motorhome and requested a refund of my deposit. For my trouble, they did give me a $250 gift card, but I wasted half that in fuel plus my time and trouble. I will monitor my account and post again if my deposit isn't refunded. My advise to everyone is not to trust CW and always be prepared to walk away.

Camping World - Poor Management at the General Managment Level Ft Myers baranch

Management favoritism towards a young female employee but against a older worker at the Ft Myers branch and the older employee has been there longer and has to the pick up the work of the younger employee in many cases. This is pure case of age discrimination when the GM gives a 20+ girl a pay raise and an older employee is told she can"t have one and is harassed by the GM. The General Manager is involved with the younger employee which indicates a poor operating process. This harassment has forced the older employee to leave with a bad taste in her mouth. I have been a manager for 55 years and worked with young and old but never showed blatant miss use of my management power as this GM displayed. I also Manage a 501 c 3program in the Education arena so I know what has to be handled and how. Most of my 35 employees are 55 years or older and are the corner stone for my program. Its very disappointing to think an organization as large as yours would allow such poor management philosophies especially at the GM level ---- Thank You for your time

Camping World - Liars and thieves who will rip you off.If you let them.

Was in the process of trading up a beautiful, hardly used in exc.cond.travel trailer . When I was about to purchase, my trade value was lowered by $3,000 because "we (camping world) have to bring it up to trade quality". My coach is in exc.cond.and just inspected by a local rv dealer.Brakes/tires 90%.First thing I was told was "brakes and tires need replacement $700 ". Liars. "coach needs to be vacuumed $300" (I recently had it cleaned and detailed). "Complete inspection is needed, $500"(I just had it completely inspected before trading it). All these charges would be deducted from my trade valuation. More miscellaneous charges would be added and deducted from trade valuation, including $1,000 labor. DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED $$$ AT CAMPING WORLD.You have been forewarned.Do not upset your children by finding what you want only to be lied to, by a company that does questionable tactics. Camping world lies to your FACE.

Completely agree with all you said here. Two years after I bought our 2016 Outback and still being told I overpaid by $10k.

Didn’t know any better back then. Delivery inspection also revealed multiple issues (leaks, broken cabinet doors, malfunctioning plumbing, etc. So bad they didn’t even put air in the tires.

Checked them when I got home and found all four were 20 pounds low. I am sorry you went through this too.
