Camping World - Service department

Three days ago I called to speak to someone is service, I was wanting pricing to install a fifth wheel hitch system and price for a 20ft awning fabric. Left message on voice mail. No return call. Called again yesterday, left message to someone named Kevin, I think. No return call. Just wondering if you have closed your service department, or is this normal business practice. If this is your normal business practice, I think I should find another camping world location to do my business. I know you are busy and this is your busiest time of the year. But to let customers go for days without a return call is just unheard of. If you are that busy, maybe hiring a extra person or two you provide the service your customers expect. Very, Very unhappy with the way you conduct business. Herb Amburn, York Sc, 803-981-2554

I bought an RV at the Kansas City RV show in Jan 2017 - when we received the RV in April the cabinet doors had been highlighted with a permanent marker - only thing is highlighting looks like a 5 year old did it -Camping World in Grain Valley , Missouri, agreed this was no acceptable and turned it in as warranty work - they have taken pictures 3 times and submitted 3 times - but they keep loosing the paperwork - so they finally agreed to fix it (Forest Rivers is the manufacturer) but now they tell me they do not know how to fix it - I should try a dollar compensation with Forest Rivers which is fine with me - however, I call and leave messages but Forest River never calls back - meanwhile Camping World Grain Valley tells me I have to hurry up and resolve this because my 1 year warranty is expiring. I am ready to turn this over to my attorney.

right after we purchased our 2018 Thor Freedom Elite in Jan and brought it home we noticed that the inside lights would not go off... Called CW of Grain Valley, KC, for appt...finally got it in and was told that it was wired wrong.. After 3+ weeks they finally told us (after calling them every day) that they were waiting on ok from Thor that it would be covered under warrenity... really?? We finally got to use our camper this past week end for the first time and we had no hot water..and AC would not run with generator.. When we went back to CW to talk to service dept to ask for another "walk thru" we were told that it would cost us, they would charge us.. We talked to the salesman to see if we were doing something wrong.. He basically told us "we just sell them, we don't know anything about them".. We finally took the panels off the generator and the water heater and figured it out ourselves... original walk thru was a joke! We bought from CW because it is such a large company and thought that if were on the road and had trouble they would take care of us....Joke is on us I guess...Go somewhere else to purchase your RV..

Camping World - HORRIBLE SERVICE DEPARTMENT

Camping World in Wentzville has had my motorhome for 2 1/2 months and counting for a slide-out repair and it is STILL not fixed. They first explained that they had huge turnover within their service department staffing - turnover that was made to address their poor performance. Well the new team has not improved things at all. Then I was told that the delay was due to getting authorization for the repair from the extended warranty company I use (they claimed they were on hold for hours). Well I use Good Sam for this policy - the SAME company. Most recently I was told that they replaced the slide-out motor and the gears, but their technician had failed to recognize the rollers were damaged as well. Therefore the process to get authorization, order parts etc started all over again. Finally, I have had to call them constantly to even receive updates - updates that nothing has progressed. I don't have confidence that anyone is supervising this repair - or they are not empowered to get the repair moving. I will never use them again for RV service and will recommend that everyone avoid them.

Camping World in Monticello, Minnesota - Would never purchase from them again

We purchased a brand new camper in Sept 2017. The store was closing and we were pushed into making a decision as they needed to close up for the day. I called the next day to them we felt like we were rushed and pushed into something that we did not have the time to think about. We had not signed any legal paperwork yet but did put money down. The credit manager told me they would take us to court if we failed to finish the purchase. We were then told that we could have 4 weeks before we needed to pick up the new camper but we needed to complete the sale paperwork. Once we arrived and explained the situation they gave us a $50 rug for compensation of the issues and told us the camper needed to be picked up with in 7 days. The General Manager was called and e-mailed multiple times and refused to speak with us even when we were in the store completing our paperwork. The day we went to pick up the camper we noticed it had hail damage and it was a brand new one. They told us they did not have another one on the lot and they would work something out with us. We found a ton of other items that needed repair but we already had a trip planned. They told us to come back with the camper and they would resolve the issues. We brought the camper back with a long list of items including the water lines under the sink had been leaking and have now damaged the cabinets, the stairs had pulled away from the bunks, the couch needed repair, screws falling out, staples not in all the way etc. They had our camper for 2 months trying to make the repairs and then we got a call that they backed another camper into ours and they would have to now fix the outside of the camper as well. They tried to fix it and it looked like a 2 year old did the job. Now it sits again waiting for new parts and repair. Each time we went to Camping World to check on the repairs we would end up with the list only being partially completed. We finally got a conference call with the GM and Service Manager. We explained that they can just give us a different camper since they now had more on the lot and we would call it good or they should give us money back as we also had to pay for storage to secure a spot and in all reality our camper sat at their store waiting on them all winter. Then they actually told us we should be lucky they are not charging us for storage. Are you kidding me?! The GM told us that they would give us a $200 gift card to use in their store and in return we would not be able to talk negatively about Camping World and we would void our warranty with them for good, even though we purchased an $8k extended warranty. But yet they would not refund us the money we spent on that warranty, just cancel it out. He threatened to take us to court if we reached out to the BBB or the Attorney Generals Office and we would not have a leg to stand on as he gave us an offer. Needless to say, we told them to keep the $200 and we would never be back to do business or tell anyone to do business with them. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. I know there are issues with a lot of places but this tops them all. I just pray we do not have any further issues with our camper as I don't want to have to deal with them again.

Camping World in Meridian, Idaho - NOT IN MY LIFE TIME

After reading some of the rants about Camping World I think wife and I will find another place to purchase our new RV. We road around on their little golf cart and listened to salesman tell us how great they take care of their family that buys from them, after reading these rants makes me really wonder how they do treat their own family. I would not buy anything from a company that wouldn't stand behind what they sale, or a service department that doesn't have a team that cant fix and RV right. Thank you for your time last week but I think not on this purchase. Thanks everyone for your honest feed back and this really helps me make my decision.

Stoped by camping world to look at campers. Found just what I wanted. Yhey told me they checked everything and it was good. they sadi the propane to the heater was unhooked and could not be checked. the batteries checked out good. When I got home with it I found the the batteries were no good and the heater worked fine if you installed 2 AA batteries. The main battries had been froze and did not hold a charge. I talked to one of the managers. He told me thatif I brought them in that they would repace them. 200 miles one way, I returned the battries. they said they were special battries and they would have to order them. So I left them the old battries and came home to return at a later date to det new battries. they then left me a message telling me that they would not replace the batteries. When I called them, they would not let me talk to the salesman or the manager that said they would stand behind the battries. Do not take them at there word. They lie and tell you anything to get you out the door.

5/16/18 Drove 87 miles to keep a appointment set by CW to have a vent fan and two vent covers installed. When fan and covers were ordered was given a ball park price for parts and labor $400-$450. First work order at check in was $900+dollars. After refusing that and all there explanations as to why I was not told this or that I agreed for them to proceed with as estimated cost of $700+. We are talking about 1 Vent fan and two vent covers. After hours of waiting, ask to see the finished product. Vent fan cover was smoke/black NOT white as ordered, the new vent had no cover only 1 cover installed over bedroom. After a lot of cussing and shaking of heads on there part was sent to pay a $596 bill. Lot of emails to corporate office, a call from corporate person assuring me he would get this before a person who can fix the situation. Got a call yesterday from supposedly the service and part managers and it did not go well. 1. According to work order they did what was requested. 2. Since I had signed a $700 work order and only paid $595 sounds like the already took care of the problem. 3. Both these gentlemen had the most condescending, arrogant attitude. I understand they were pissed because they got a email from corporate and had to call. They finally offered to match online prices that they had agreed to do from the beginning and a $50 gift card! I may be off base but i refused!!!! 1. I think I should pay only prices agreed to on initial order 2. Think I should pay a reasonable rate for hooking up a power source (not $190) there was a light 18 inches away from opening. Thor says there is a wiring harnesses there already. 3. Compensated for gas (would not have made the trip had i known they would not have all the parts) Please tell me and Camping World Hope Mills who is wright.

Get away from them and stay away from them. Camping world teaches their service people how to rip you off in many different ways. Never go to camping world for any reason ever again.
