Camping World in Wood Village, Oregon - Unscrupulous sales techniques

1.5
Details
Bought a Jayco travel trailer with posted price at $24,349. The flyer inside the trailer distinctly stated (below said price) Save $1000 if financed through camping world, which by all practical means would make the trailer $23,349. The salesman also clearly stated the stabilizer package would be included in the price. Once back in the showroom the paperwork appeared confusing/nebulous. Now the $1000 off for financing I was told was already a part of the $24,349. Not at ALL the way it appeared in trailer flyer. Then the stabilizer that was guaranteed part of the deal was added on at close to $500. Salesman stated "we" misunderstood him which is total BS! Then all of the added taxes and misc costs that were not mentioned during negotiation were added and now my trailer was over $26,000. I was incredulous with the sneakiness and unscrupulous nature of Camping World. We should have walked out, our bad. We were in knee deep before we realized this business has absolutely no moral compass! Never again and now my mission to is to earn the world about the shady tactics employed at Camping World!!!

Pricing issue

Camping World in Oakwood, Georgia - Not good .

Camping world Oakwood , June 1st,2018- We went in looking for a fifth wheel. I told them My price range and the salesman (Sal) continues to show us fifth wheels well above our price range. He did show us some in our price range, but it aggravated me that he kept on showing us the ones double our price range ! We negotiated down on one that we liked, but was told the GM was taking it to the lake for the weekend. So if we didn’t get it that day he wouldn’t be back with it for a week or so. It’s nice to know that Camping world is taking their campers out and using them before selling them ! We sat down to do paperwork and could not come to a fair price. We went home to realize that the salesman lost or kept my husbands CDL license. He drives for a living and we lost income because of this error. I know the salesperson never handed back the license. Now we are filing a lost or stolen police report for his license, because we don’t know if someone there took them Or if they were genuinely lost. It’s not hard to hand a license back once you get a copy. I will Never do business with camping world again. This has been a catastrophe.

All these comments are from the sales team, they have a lot of time during the day!

A "catastrophe" is something like the World Trade Center destruction, or Hurricane xxx, or the destruction of the shuttles Columbia and Challenger. World War Two and the Holocaust were catastrophes.

Your problem is a mosquito bite or a zit on your cheek by rational comparison. Chill out, slow down, analyze, overcome .... and next time explain to us indoor types the nature and purpose of a "fifth wheel" ; it sounds like an inconvenience and a physical impracticality ... two wheels, OK, three wheels, OK, four wheels, OK, a fifth wheel ?

Huh ?

A clown car perhaps ? I don't know and you didn't say.

@Chester

FYI.. For someone who is a CLASS A CDL HOLDER and for their license to get lost is a huge deal.

That is how they provide for their family, it is their income and life line. Catastophe?

Maybe the word was used a bit loosely, but not in complete ignorance. A fifth wheel is a large camper, and if you don't know what a fifth wheel even is, you probably shouldn't comment on a camping world review.

Catastrophe comes from a Greek word meaning "overturn." It originally referred to the disastrous finish of a drama, usually a tragedy. Therefore they did use the word correctly !

Camping World in Kingston, New York - Zero stars

1.0
Details
I wish I could give Camping World negative stars. They are dishonest and very unprofessional. The finance guy was swearing and using derogatory names, like a child. He was distracting us with stories about his adult children's drama. He quoted me the wrong price for the extended warranty and never explained that we could pick and chose what was in the warranty. They charged us $2000 for a warranty to protect the paint and fabric. Who would chose to pay that for a camper? and then $1000 for road side assistance which we already got free from our car and trailer insurance. They also charged us $1000 over the cost they had quoted us for the camper itself. The finance guy (Tony) told me it was basically my fault for signing it. He tried to bully me when I called to complain, asking me why I didn't know I could edit my warranty and telling me he said warranties not warranty over and over again. He was incredibly rude and he told me he would get back to me but never did. I called the sales managers (John Glenn and Michael Lucido)whose cards were in my packet of info, neither of them returned my call. I then got the number for the general manager (Dan I believe) and left him a message and never heard from him. I then received an email from my sales guy Vinnie saying thank you for the purchase and to let him know if they could do anything for me as they think of their customers as family. I responded to that email and copied it to the sales managers and the internet sales manager Melissa as well No one responded. I went on the camping world main page and chatted with someone who said she would send our case to the corporate office and we would hear back. We haven't heard from anyone We live an hour away but now we'll have to go there just in hopes of actually talking to someone.. This is absolutely ridiculous. I encourage anyone with a similar experience to report it to your attorney general and the better business bureau. I'll update if I ever hear back from them

Camping world sucks

I could write a book on why not to buy an RV at camping world. I'll highlight a free. Bathroom door will not open it's taken over 4 months for parts and still not in. Air-condition will not run correctly. Reserve battery back had no water in them . Tire pressure was at only at 40psi should of been at 80psi. Refrigerator themostate stop working after just four weeks. Tried calling customer service no answer got a recording and ask for them to call me back nothing. Had to drive 2 hours to talk with someone. Asked to speak with the regional manager and was promised a call from him nothing.I could go on and on with issues with camping world. It seems no one cares once they get your money the customer service stop. Sad cause I will never up grade at camping world. The CEO should be replaced for running a company like this.

Camping World - Sale before the Customer

1.7
Details
Had to give phone # to get price and then the phones calls kept coming & I had to block them. So I went there and when the salesman realized I was only out for information to make future decisions he gave me the choice of walking back (long hot walk for a 60 yr old) or taking me back so he could close deals with people who wanted to buy that day. So asked for brochures to take home & told I would have to go online for that. So I did and once again the hard sales started again. When I asked for that to not happen I was told that I had no choice that I would be called every time I wanted information. So I will not be coming back. I want to be treated with respect & won’t get it here. Pushy & hard sales is a sure sign that $ comes before the customer.

Camping World in Calera, Alabama - Incredibly Frustrating

1.3
Details
Four months ago my wife and I purchased a Thor Freedom Traveler 27A from Camping World in Calera, Al. After the purchase we were given a walk-thru to provide an in-depth overview of the coach. This overview revealed a yellow stain in the flooring that couldn't be removed and the LP indicator lights were not working due to a sensor missing in the tank. We were told by management, after we said we no longer wanted the vehicle, that they would replace the flooring and install the sensor. They said this would take about 4 days - the four days became 4 weeks. After taking the coach home, we did a mock campout in our driveway and found several (minor) issues. We made a list and contacted Camping World to set up time to bring it in. We also asked to have a track bar, and steering stabilizer installed. It has now been 3 weeks and according to Camping World they are waiting on a part for the steering stabilizer. When I asked about the other issues I was told that it had to be approved...something about warranty approval. This made no sense because the coach has bumper-to-bumper (the best they offered) coverage. But the most frustrating part in all of this is that the vehicle has been sitting in their lot for 3 weeks and NOTHING has been done!! Someone tell me if I'm wrong, but everything I've encountered at Camping World has shown to be poor management, poor communication, and I feel deceived about their warrant program. If I could, and I'm not sure I can't, I would tell them to keep the coach and refund my money.

You are not wrong, what you are experiencing is a very much commonplace at most of the CW locations. Camping world considers YOU the problem and not them.

I agree that you misunderstood the warranty terms ; the clue is that you stated, regarding the warranty, QUOTE : " the best they offered " ... you shouldn't have to pay anything for at very least the original manufacturer's portion.

Whomever constructed the rest of the vehicle cabin, etc. is next ; there is a very specific portion of the Uniform Commercial Code stipulating requirements regarding product sold as "new". This is not an extra charge option either.

I'd like to see the *** documents you signed when purchasing an add-on that benefits only the dealership in partnership with the sponsor. Perhaps you should have followed your first instinct and declined the transaction ; this may just be the beginning as I read a lot of complaints about RVs posted to this website.

Camping World - Poor Customer Service
Took my RV to Camping world to have Warranty work done to it and get winterized at the same time. That was in November got it back in late Feb, then took it out early March for a week. Was notified that all the warranty parts had come in and I needed to bring the RV in so the work can be completed. I dropped off the RV early March, was told it would be only a week. After countless calls to the service department I am told in late April that I can come and pick it up all the work is completed. the day before I am to pick up my RV, the service depart. calls and informs me that there was damage done to the RV that needed to be fix. Therefore, the total amount of time Camping World has had my RV is 22 week out of 35 weeks.

I am paying on something I can not even use due to company negligence, I believe that the company should pay for the weeks they have had my vehicle in their care.
